Why is M.A Larson such a big deal?

Did he gain pride after writing Magical Mystery Cure? Is he being invited to every convention and interviewed by every network because he's the reason Twilight is an alicorn?

I know a lot of people have adapted to alicorn Twilight, but the thing is, if you ignore the alicorn twilight moment, the episode is still bad (In my opinion).

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad thing to give him this attention at all since he wrote Slice of Life! I'm just wondering if it's a "I learned my mistake" kind of thing.

I have to give him credit, Hasbro does in fact give him the right. That being said, I think good for him for not letting a bunch of grown men upset over a cartoon not make him feel bad about himself. He takes it pretty professionally.

What I'm saying is, for a short time there was a point where everyone hated him because of alicorn Twilight, then after that, people "inexplicably" like him and are now (sort of) treating him like the Gabe Newell of MLP. I have nothing against him. I like him a lot now because of Slice of Life, but why did they like him before Slice of Life?

So, this video was put out regarding MMC. Apparently, there was a lot of stuff Larson wanted to do in the s3 finale, the script was a lot different, but Hasbro being Hasbro, basically said, "not gonna happen" He wanted to make it a two-parter and they denied it. So for all of you who blame Larson for it being a poorly made and rushed episodes, shift your blame to Hasbro for stupid executive decisions.

People need to stop blaming Larson for how MMC turned out.

I saw him and a few other bronies doing a reaction type vid to MMC and what was Larson doing? Cooling himself by using a hand full of dollar bills as a fan. XD

I don't like him as a writer. Maybe he's got a sense of humor and great guy to hang out with but I did not like any of his episodes. Make him a host on conventions and meets but keep away from that pen.

Everyone? That isn't completely true. Go through the episode discussion thread here in the Season 3 forum. There isn't as much hate as you assume. This site even had a dedicated forum area specifically to discuss Twilacorn and dislike was most certainly not unanimous ...

 

Larson was liked before because he engaged the fans in a whimsical way. He is known for playfully poking at the fans and also being relatively to the point with things.

I think Larson's personality and way of interacting with the fans just gets their attention more then with other members of the show staff. He knows how to ruffle them up, and he's done it so much now that I think fans have just come to expect it from him, even where it really shouldn't be. I doubt he pens scripts with the mindset of "How many fans can I fire up with this?". He gets a few subtle cheeky moments now and again, but that to me just shows he's not flat out ignoring fan response, he's just not making it a bigger thing then it has to be. He does what he's paid to do, and if Hasbro like it, that's what matters most.

M.A Larson is like that cool uncle, you might be seeing once a month, or every easter/thanksgiving/christmas. He always makes you laugh and he always gives you cool presents.

 

In short, this guy is just incredibly cool to us.

I don't mind him. I'm okay with Alicorn Twi, although magical mystery cure was bad (still had some good songs though). He's also a pretty funny guy and he plays along with the "Thanks M.A.Larson" joke. I began to like him even more when he featured in Bronies React to Season 5 premiere. He's good at his job. It's just unfortunate that sometimes he (and every other screen writer) has to make sure the show still makes Hasbro money.

I love him cause he is bucking hilarious and I can't watch a video with him in it without doubling over. He is the gleeful parody badguy and I freaking love him for it, just that bronies react vid he did alone was genius.
