Pinkie Pie has ADHD?

I think Pinkie must have ADHD, because she's almost always hyper.

You can also have ADD or ADHD (I don't remember which) can be formed from if you're the youngest in class, or youngest of your friends. And some bronies are speculating she's the younger than most of the Mane 6.

I know because had ADHD at one point.

Pinkie Pie just wanna have fun and share smiles, it's her personality not ADHD, remember the episode "Too many Pinkie Pies", she passed the test of concentration.

Attention Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder?

Well, I have to admit Pinkie Pie does have trouble paying attention to a lot of different things as well as other ponies, but I'm attributing that as a symptom of the hyper-activity, as she was able to concentrate on paint drying, something I, a human without the aforementioned affliction, can not do. Granted, she had the incentive to not look away lest she wanted to be vaporized, but I rest my case.

As far as the hyper bit of her... She does live in a bakery and has been known to eat entire cakes in just several bites. I think that her ADHD is just a symptom of increased sugar intake.

That said, Pinkie might seriously want to have her blood sugar checked.

"Time is just an illusionary factoid that all natural things are bound to. It has the power to crumble even the mightiest of mountains into little more than dust, yet if it is an illusion, why is this so? Because people waste a lot of time, only wishing they had more. Little do people realize an inescapable fact: Time governs those who wish they had more of it. By wishing you could use it better, you govern time, and you can get all the time you'll ever need." — Starfall, Quillwaver

I would say yes, but then we have to remember that this was a thing.

:toldya: I think that goes beyond a simple case of ADD or ADHD. :toldya:

She did pass, but she had to maintain a lot of willpower. The desire to live is very powerful. Weak people will become strong, people will be able to preform tasks that were impossible before, etc. If I was in a situation where I had to act as if I didn't have autism or schizophrenia or die, I probably would succeed, even if it was a situation that would cause issues. So while Pinkie did pass the test, it was that or essentially dying.

I really hate it when fans look too deeply into the show and they wonder if the characters have a lot more going on than let on.

The characters don't have disabilities or mental health issues. This is just a case of someone looking too deeply into this.

Well... Whatever you say.

I actually kind of agree with you. What kind of person speculates if the Mane 6 are homosexuals?  :sunbutt:

If there are disabilities in Equestria, she probably would.

Correction, disorders. Disabilities hints a complete lack of function. Disabilities are canon in the show actually, there have been many cases of conditions, especially horse related conditions that have been featured. Pinkie seems to show frequent, off-topic and sporadic behavior in events of the show that get awfully out of context so I wouldn't be surprised at all if she did have ADHD.

As long as no one accounts it as canon or any other related serious behavior there's no harm in speculating further depth into a character, or to maybe make your headcanons and perceptions of a character seem viable and likely.

I don't think so, since Pinkie has been shown to do things that even other ponies recognize as impossible. I'm not saying she's god-like, but given how unique her abilities are, she's at least more than pony.

But then again maybe even gods can have ADHD.

That doesn't have anything to do with ADD, nor ADD have anything to do with the common subject! Just imagine some people have faster processing speed than others, so the current assignment takes a very small portion of their total process capacity. Working in parallel at multiple frames of thought.

So much unused potential, you just wander off. Multitasking. You can talk with someone, while you think about something else, drawing with both hands at the same time. Something pinkie can do quite well.

Indigo children are usually diagnosed with ADD, because they're being taught information from a civilization far behind their star homes. Obsolete knowledge, in other words, them they sent you with different psychologists. To which they all conclude "The child is brilliant, but it doesn't seem to care for some reason"

You and your primitive science, and ancient education system!

Based on the Season 4 episode Testing 1, 2, 3 Dash probably does have ADD. (I'm a Baby Boomer. When I was a kid there was none of this dyslexic or ADD stuff. You did poorly in school, it was because you were either stupid or lazy & everyone told you so)

Pinkie is probably Hypomanic (which is sort of low grade hyper active)

Pinkie Pie actually has high dopamine levels. High dopamine levels can be linked to ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia, all of which Pinkie is thought to have by fans. (Having high dopamine levels don't necisarily means one has ADHD, Bipolar, or Shizophrenia, though. So I'm not saying she has any of them.

Maybe Pinkie just has high dopamine levels, or maybe she does have mental health problems. Regardless, she is PInkie Pie.

Pinkie is an Eldritch Abomination, who missed the point of being a horror from beyond space and time because that's totally mean and gross and not fun at all; Don't you think it's much nicer to brighten up ponies' days, and maybe eat a lot of cake? But then if you eat too much cake you might get a bellyache, but that's okay I guess if you can just warp space and time and hey *that's* why she never puts on too much weight

*Sigh*

ADHD is not temporary.  If you have it; you have it.  You can learn to control certain qualities of it, but it doesn't "go away" entirely.

I've had it my whole life, but wasn't diagnosed until I was 17, and have since been on medication for it.

You could not have had it "at one point" - either you do have it, or never did.

ADHD gets a bad name from some people because it's been overdiagnosed/misdiagnosed.  However, that doesn't mean it isn't real.  It's very much real.

There are many different kinds of ADHD, and only one type of ADD.  ADD is attention only.  ADHD can be any mixture of hyperactivity, impulsivity, and attention.  I don't have attention issues, but I do have hyperactivity and impulsivity issues.  Luckily my medication has worked for me.  Before I was diagnosed I would do things on impulse, without thinking.  A lot.  The thing I finally did that made me actually ask my mom to take me to my doctor was this: I jumped and slid on my friend's car hood, denting the hood... (yeah, I pulled a Dukes of Hazard).

Now that I'm on medication I don't do stupid things like that anymore.  I still sometimes have urges/ticks, but I'm able to overcome most of them.  An example would be the urge to blurt something out-loud randomly; I'm able to get over it by clearing my throat, or taking a deep breathe.

---

Pinkie does not have ADHD.  She has a sugar addiction.  That's all.
