Would a pony girlfriend/boyfriend be overprotective?

Would a pony girlfriend/boyfriend be overprotective? As in the ponies are insanely more overpowered (blame fan fiction) physically than a human. To the point they would not out Mike Tyson without a sweat. Topped off with ponies having insanely overpowered magic.

 

Would you say let's say Twilight Sparkle as your girlfriend be extremely overprotective of you? Overprotective as in never leaving you out of their sight and by placing magic barriers and protection spells on your body in general just in case some mean bully pony tries to hurt you.

Humans are generally considered to be superior in our scientific and engineering abilities (fingers, bro), and I'm willing to bet Mike Tyson would be able to take on any non-trained pony in a match. And Twilight doesn't seem neurotically over-protective of those who don't share her magical abilities, like her Owl. And she doesn't go crazy making sure her friends in th EG universe are safe from a flight of stairs or falling icicles.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be anymore protective than a regular girlfriend/boyfriend. The "magical barriers and constant observation" descends into stalker territory and trespasses into the realm of the absurd. Plus, I think Mike Tyson could still take on a few ponies without any trouble, no matter if they were unicorns, pegasi or earth pony.

I wouldn't think Fluttershy would be too overprotective because she would understand I'm old enough to take care of myself but she would still want me to be safe just like the rest of her animal and pony friends

Aye, really this kinda sounds like Twilight. (Not Sparkle... no wait... that doesn't work either... not the VAMPIRE one). Edward saving Bella from car collisions and such. But I don't see any reason for this to be an issue, as long as you didn't charge headlong into the crystal war because you thought you could handle it. Equestria is a very safe place and the only reason to constantly fear for the life of a human is bigotry/hate-groups, and they don't have a problem with that.

Honestly, i can definitely see rainbow dash being overprotective.   Like accidentally crushing me when holding me too tightly in bed. (Sleeping. not...you know.)  She already cares for her friends safety.

Yes, especially Twilight. If she was somepony's gf, then she would probably actually love that somepony (which is required to make her overprotective)
