gaming Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot is my childhood explained in two words. Does anyone else remember or play the games?

The old Bandicoot is kept in the hearts of many, and if it weren't for the long-time fans keeping his name alive, he'd be dead in the water.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is the first video game I ever played and is still my favourite video game of all time. I still own the same copy of that game and the same PS1 from 17 years ago, when I was 2. And it still works like a charm.

Point being, anyone else remember or still play the games? Especially the original trilogy. I'm not saying the later ones were bad, not at all, but I think the original trilogy just can't be topped.

I actually own all of the Crash Bandicoot games. Well, except for N. Tranced and Big Adventure, but I never found much point in getting those two anyways. I never really cared about whether the new games or the old games were better either.

As for my opinion for the series, I honestly am not a fan. I used to downright adore this series and is a big staple of my childhood. I mean, this series has introduced me to the world of gaming. But I grew up and realised how mediocre the games are. To me, it's another standard platformer series. It doesn't help that there is no exploring and you just follow a simple path, which I'm not too crazy about. I'm not too keen on repetition is what I'm saying. Then again I still love Pokémon and that's repetitive as fuck, so maybe I'm not one to speak. The stories and the characters' personalities aren't anything too special either. Although I shouldn't be saying that either as Crash Bandicoot was never story-heavy.

But that is not to say that I hate everything about this series. As I said, this is the first gaming series I've ever played, so of course I'm going to remember it. I'm not interested in playing it anymore, but hey, I'm still thankful for what it has done to me. One thing that I adore about the Crash Bandicoot series is the music, especially in the trilogy. It's atmospheric, it's vibrant and it's memorable. Some of my favourite tracks in the series include the music from the level Pack Attack/Rock It (Cortex Strikes Back) and Medieval Madness (Wrath of Cortex, PS2 version). The graphics in the trilogy are also very great. Like the music, it is vibrant and fits the themes of a certain level. Oh, and some of the characters have really cool designs. Not all of them, but the ones that work are really creative.

But unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good, and as such I wouldn't call this one of my favourite gaming franchises. But hey, it could be worse. My favourite Crash Bandicoot game is Cortex Strikes Back, while my least favourite is the original.

I loved Crash Bandicoot and I remember playing the original trilogy a long time ago. My favorite of the trilogy would have to be Crash 3: Warped. The levels and enemies were pretty cool and the bosses were really well designed. I also remember the Crash racing games and I loved playing Crash Bash as well.

I used to love this game!

I remember one of the bosses was a pig crossed with a crocodile or something

That boss was one of my favorite characters because of his design. His name is Dingodile and I think his design is a cross between a pig with a crocodile tail, or something like that.

Ahh, Crash, so many childhood memories came back just by reading the name! :D I loved the PSX games, my first one was Warped. I also liked Wrath of Cortex and Twinsanity, but my favorites were the first 3.

I have a PSX emulator, and already have finished all 3 of them with most gems...but now, I want to go back and finish them again, heh.

Actually he's a cross between a dingo (which is an Australian breed of a wild dog) and a crocodile.

Great to hear you got 5th generation awesomeness. It's worth a gametastic brohoof.

Do you also have Crash Team Racing?

Does this answer your question?

I never knew that, and all this time I thought he was half pig because of his face sprite in the early games. Now I see why they call him Dingodile . That's still pretty awesome and thanks for clearing that up.  :)

Loved this series growing up. Between the original trilogy+CTR, I'd say the second one was my favorite.

I never hear anyone talk about it, but I actually liked the 4th game Wrath of Cortex a lot

I played 1 + 2 and CTR and they still hold up very well IMO except for any point where you have to walk backwards. Those moments always sucked.

I remember very well Crash Bandicoot. My favorite character is the antagonist, Dr.Cortex. Also I liked Nina Cortex.

Just some time ago I played Crash Bash again on a PSX emulator for PC.
