So, with scaremaster shown, we know that the nightmare star image wasn't just a costume for halloween. That ticks off one more way for them to logically fit in Nightmare star into this season, with it looking like the finale is the only logical place left for her to show up.

 

 

Do you think Nightmare star is actually going to occur in the show, or do you think the Trading card game is now making cards that aren't canon and just based on stuff fans talk about?

And if you think nightmare star is still going to happen, do you think it'll be in the finale then? How big do you think nightmare star will be as an event when it occurs? (S4 finale big in changing status quo and changing things even, or back to normal at the end)

 Hah, I've actually seen that idea a few times on derpibooru.

I don't think its the alicorn amulet though. if you look closely at it you'll note there's no wings on it, while the alicorn amulet has wings, which makes me think its not the same thing, just a recurring trend in designs.

The Unicorn design on it is a recurring shape in alot of the show, like the book from the very first episode of the show, making me think its more just that is a recurring horned pony design.

 

Though, I will note you have a tendency to post insider information alot on pchan marimo, which makes me view that theory a bit more seriously now XD

Yes it does. You just have to adjust the colors and get a closer look at the lines.

And they are outright using the alicorn amulet's design for that horned pony, not the unicorn on the book.

Mm. It honestly could just be reusing and modifying assets or just lore that only applies to the card. We haven't gotten anything that supports Nightmare Star that didn't come from Enterplay.

It's a card that so far has only been used as a card and a poster made by Enterplay for the CCG.

 

And Nightmare Star is Celestia's equivalent of Luna's Nightmare Moon.

I can see it in the image you have, but only barely. The smaller resolution makes it hard to see, so you'd need an image with a larger resolution to make out the details.

Starlight Glimmer is gonna stop the Mane 6 from getting their cutie marks which then keeps them from defeating Nightmare Moon, right? Well, what if, with nobody to wield the Elements of Harmony, Celestia is desperate and decides to use the Alicorn Amulet to make herself strong enough to defeat Nightmare Moon? The Alicorn Amulet would make her magic so strong she could save Luna without the Elements. She thinks it won't corrupt her because she's an alicorn, but she's wrong, and she turns into Nightmare Star.

Personally, I'm thinking that with The mane six not friends and twilight never existing as Celestia's protege, Celestia will turn to dark magic to try and "force" the elements to work, leading to her corruption.

It would sync up well with the smite makes right card's foreboding line, though all things considered that the flavortext is probably just there to add onto the image of Celestia from the crystal empire.


The only snafu here is, if the mane six are retconned into not being the element bearers, then why are the elements their cutie marks? They only turned into their shapes when they came into contact with the mane six (besides twilight's of course), and that wouldn't happen in an altered timeline.

Granted, they could try and do some "destiny" thing that the elements became those shapes because it was supposed to happen, and the mane six's cutie marks actually represent that they were supposed to be the EOH bearers or something.

one of the theories for the nightmare star image was that it was just a costume that Celestia was going to be wearing in the halloween episode: Since we now know that's not true, this brings up the question of when this season (if at all) nightmare star happens.

Well... In MMC, everything that happened was just plain impossible. The characters couldn't even exist if they all had different cutie marks. Nothing made sense. Twilight created a paradox, and what originally happened got all mixed up with what she caused to happen instead. By keeping the Mane 6 from getting their cutie marks, Starlight Glimmer will be creating a paradox. What originally happened and what she'll make happen instead will get mixed up. That's how the Elements of Harmony can look like that.

Exactly. Some people thought that Nightmare Star would be Celestia's costume, but it wasn't, so now people are wondering what Nightmare Star's role will be in season 5, if she appears at all.

It's probably just a reused asset. If I had to guess what Nightmare Star was, knowing what we know from EQG 3, I'd say NMS is what Celestia becomes in one or all of the bad timelines.

I just got another idea! I think Luna was possessed when she turned into Nightmare Moon, so maybe in the alternate timeline Celestia figures out how to defeat Nightmare Moon without the Elements of Harmony but she was only able to force the Nightmare out of Luna, not destroy it, so it possessed her somehow!

Take note that many cards released this year foreshadowed events of this season, so don't rule out Nightmare Star could happen in this time loop shenanigans this finale
