Unlikeable Pony 2,698 November 13, 2015 Share November 13, 2015 Either that or they all become immortal. xD SEASON SIX. But yeah, I think they'd probably just either say "twilight's not immortal" for simplicity sake, or say that the table/map keeps whoever is working for it young. I don't think they'd actually delve into that in the show itself, so I doubt it'll ever be addressed, as I don't think the little kids are going to be thinking to themselves "Is twilight immortal now?" as much as bronies. And they generally only really care about explaining things so the target audience knows.
J. Brony 313 November 13, 2015 Share November 13, 2015 (edited) Perhaps, they would unlock a special power to help them all maintain their lives for a good period of time. Indeed, this is likely the case. And this special power is what people in the business refer to as "ratings". So long as My Little Pony is generating a profit for Hasbro, the adventures of the Mane 6 will continue. SEASON SIX. Is that an actual screencap from the movie or a teaser image or just fanart? When the 2017 movie was announced AMC movie network grabbed some MLP fanart, slapped the "Hasbro studios" logo on it and briefly flashed it when doing their report on it. Its fanart from 2011 in the early days of MLP, not legit in the slightest. If it was a legitimate teaser you'd have heard about that by now as people would have shit bricks at the implications of it XD

melody5697 195 November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 As many people have already said, Twilight will not outlive her friends because Meghan McCarthy says so. I like to think they'll all have extended life spans. Then I can keep reading TwiLuna fan fictions! Reading those would just be too sad if Twilight still had a normal life span. sweetolebob18 728 November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 I'm not completely convinced ANY Alicorn is immortal. Yes, Celestia & Luna seem to be unaging, but that isn't quite the same thing. It just means they won't grow old or die from old age, not that they can't be killed. Given T's line of work... Well, let's just say I'd worry more about the medical plan & not so much about retirement benefits
Sidral Mundet 1,666 November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 Well lets look at it this way: Is the show ever going to bring it up? No, mostly because they're not going to have any of the cast die off so we're not going to get confirmation about it either way. It's basically like Applejack's parents, we all have a general idea what happened but the show will never confirm or deny such thoughts Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end. Celli 4,338 November 15, 2015 Share November 15, 2015 It's already been confirmed that she's not going to be immortal. That said, if she's supposed to be Celestia's successor, Celestia's obviously not close to dying of old age. So what happens when Twilight dies before Celestia? Guest90210 3,568 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 As of Season 6, we know that Celestia & Luna aren't naturally born alicorns, therefore the theory that naturally born alicorns have longer lifespans is unknown/inconclusive since new-born Flurry Heart is the only known naturally born alicorn.Twilight & Cadence haven't lived long enough to pass away from what would normally be considered old age (an average lifespan), so all we have to go off of are Celestia & Luna, both of which are thousands of years old. Unless Celestia & Luna are some sort of Gods which set them apart from other alicorns, it's safe to consider that perhaps their alicorn status is what keeps them alive. Are they immortal? It's impossible to tell. But it's clear they age extremely slowly, at the very least. As for McCarthy's tweet that "Twilight will not outlive her friends", that most likely means one of two things:1. As Unlikeable Pony said earlier in this thread, McCarthy could just be saying what she said just to vaguely respond to the question, since its possible the topic won't ever come up in the show, therefor quelling concerns from fans while not having to actually answer the question through the show. The writers probably don't have the concept mapped out yet. This is what I think is most likely.2. McCarthy is potentially implying that the ReMane 5 will somehow gain immortality or a massively extended lifespan. I doubt they'll become alicorns themselves, or that they'll give some sort of alternative explanation for the slow aging, but who knows where the writer's heads will be at when the series finale comes around. Notice the specific "she won't outlive her friends" wording. She didn't say that Twilight will age at a normal pace - she implied that she won't age any faster than her friends, or that she'll die an unnatural death in battle (very unlikely). As for my thoughts on the matter, I do think Twilight will outlive her friends by thousands of years, just like Luna & Celestia. I'm not positive that they're necessarily immortal, but I do think they age incredibly slowly due to their alicorn magic.
CT-1138 3,182 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 Meghan McCarthy has said that Twilight will not outlive her friends. So unless they will all become immortal, then she isn't. Lil Pip 775 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 You know instead of rejecting immortality, which is silly, why not just ya know, get starlight and discord to make everyone an alicorn permanently? Boom, no need to die, and they are elements of harmony, they might be immortal already, and Twi is growing yes, she could be alicorn sized in the future ya know? That's a possibility. -Octavia- 1,176 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 we know that Celestia & Luna aren't naturally born alicorns This is never explicitly stated; the wording is too ambiguous to assume one way or another what their origins are, unless there has been new evidence revealed in the more recent episodes I have yet to watch. 1 Aria Rosewood

Hmm. This is the direct quote from the Season 6 premiere: Rarity: But... But... But I thought Alicorn wings had to be earned by accomplishing some great, princess-worthy deed! Applejack: Yeah. How can you just be born with 'em? Princess Celestia: The birth of an Alicorn is something Equestria has never seen! Princess Luna: It is beyond even our understanding. Interesting. However it's worth noting that AKR isn't a writer for Season 6, so we aren't sure what the writer's intent was with Celestia & Luna's quotes, though AKR's thoughts on the matter do make sense. What doesn't make sense to me is why Luna would say "it is beyond even our understanding" if they themselves were born alicorns. If they were indeed born alicorns, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't know so. If they did know, I feel they would have spoken so clearly instead of giving such a seemingly contradictory response

Guest90210 3,568 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 Well, if they've never seen any other Alicorn babies before, then that's where the aforementioned lack of personal experience comes in. Why didn't they correct Rarity when she said she thought alicorn wings had to be earned? I feel like that scene would have been written entirely differently if they intended to imply that Celestia & Luna were born as alicorns. Imo, either the writers intended to imply otherwise, or purposely kept it vague. If they intended to keep with the previously accepted canon of Celestia & Luna being naturally born alicorns, why word it that way? I chalk it up to bad writing or the writers trying to change the previously accepted canon. Furthermore, considering AKR's tweets & the previous canon, I do think -Octavia- has a good point that it isn't confirmed either way, so it's still up to speculation until we receive more conclusive information from the show or staff. Additionally, the theory that alicorns have a drastically longer-than-average lifespan is still up in the air until we know more of Celestia & Luna's origin, but I still lean towards it being true
Xeltor23 704 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 I almost thought that "artificial" alicorns aren't immortal, and this brings another question: are Celestia and Luna natural alicorns? I recall Celestia saying that wasn't any natural alicorn birth known to date in Equestria (I think that's what she said), but I can't recall if they existed before or after Equestria... if it's before, then I think they're natural Alicorns and live a very long time (without immortality), but not the artificial ones who live normally, and if they existed after Equestria, then as they are like Twilight and Cadance, Artificial alicorns live a very long time (without immortality) but we don't know about natural alicorns :
