I haven't found a mobile game as good as a computer game yet it seems mobile games is being paved towards for the future.

Mobile games is nothing but a big money dump of repetition that is boring and lacks in strategy. I'm not buying this.

For me the computer and consoles are still the real game machines.

The Mobile version of RCT was a disaster and disgraced the RCT fans.

The only reason Mobile games is so big is because of money. They make bank because they're both incredibly cheap to buy and incredibly cheap to make. It's all about short term profits, and there's boatloads of bullshit surrounding the practices behind Mobile gaming. And honestly I actually see it crashing once people start to catch on said bullshit practices, I mean just look at Rovio and Zynga, two huge mobile gaming companies are now laying off employees in droves

If this was said a couple of years ago, I would say that it seemed possible, just because of how huge they got, but mobile games have lost a lot of momentum from what I have seen. Like, a lot. mobile games just don't have the extreme presence like they did before. Probably because the production values of most of them are in the exploitative range.

Really, badly made core games and terrible business practices are the major threat.

Mobile games are terrible to play, even when they're as complex as console/handheld games. In fact, imitating console/handheld games only makes them worse, because the purely touch screen controls are terrible.

I hope that Mobile games will never become the major gaming plattform.

All of the Mobile Games i have seen so far are horrible. They look bad, are extremely short and often are just endless runners without any real story or...anything.

I just hope, that Mobile gaming will go away at some point and never come back.

I will never play Mobile Games myself anyway.

Thinking that mobile gaming would become mainstream is nothing but an unrealistic expectation.

I don't think mobile games will become bigger than pc, ever, for reasons already said: it's got no good content, and the controls are weird and bad.

I actually saw one app, that basically made it possible to play Monster Hunter on a phone.  :okiedokielokie:

All those who know Monster Hunter know that that could only end in tears... :P

It's basically Dark Souls. Playing Dark Souls with inferior controls is a bad idea indeed.  :adorkable:

Only thing mobile gaming is good for is the FF7 port. The port's actually pretty decent, and a mobile FF7 is pretty much my dream come true, but trying to play Tifa's piano to get Final Heaven is... frustrating. The controls aren't bad either.

Otherwise, mobile gaming isn't great, but it's lost a lot of momentum from what I can see. Most controls are bad. Good content is a diamond in the rough.

Mobile games are the future... Of handheld gaming. Consoles and PCs, not so much. In their current state though they are not quite there yet. While many people resist the idea, it is a very likely future simply because mobile phones are getting powerful enough to where they already dwarf the current generation handhelds in terms of power, they are accessible in that almost everyone has one and they are more portable. Right now though it's still a young market so they aren't quite where they need to be, but given enough time, yes they will replace handhelds, it's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of "when".

Let's face it: dedicated handhelds are being phased out because they aren't as convenient. People don't like paying $150+ for a device that more or less ONLY plays games when there are mobile phones out there for less than $100 which can do so much more.

Not true! Many major devs (including Nintendo) have adopted the platform and are ready to push it further. Square Enix was able to release PS3 graphic visuals on a mobile game, and as time goes on people will get better at developing for the platform. The biggest issue with it right now is control. Touch screens can be finicky for certain types of games, but given enough time someone will come up with a very versatile universal physical controller for the mobile platform that will catch popularity and work with a majority of phones and it'll more or less be over then.

Think about it: phones can produce better graphics than even the Vita and can emulate on the go. All that's truly missing is a good controller.

Are you sure about that? Right now more people play mobile games than on the PC platform. :P

I wouldn't count mobile gaming out just yet. It's still a growing platform and it's only  becoming more readily available to people every day.

Some stats for those hesitant to believe:

  • The average time playing mobile games has gone up in the past 4 years significantly. The average mobile game player spends around 7 hours a week playing mobile games.
  • The market penetration of mobile is over 45% It has been rising steadily for years.
  • King games (Candy Crush) reported a record profit of $2.2 billion in 2015. This is more money than many big AAA developers make in several years. To put this in perspective, this is almost half of what Nintendo made in a year. That's pretty huge for one game.

It's a growing platform that will continue to grow.

Not necessarily the future but it's gonna become a noticeable part of the video game industry, it's already more recognized these days.

By the way, mobile games aren't necessarily cheap to make all the time, companies are more than welcome to spend just as much as console games to create a really good mobile game, it's just that the vast majority of the companies prefer the cheap ones since it comes with a lower risk.

"Pay to win" is a pretty notorious option of a mobile game business model, and a pretty bad one when it comes to gaming experiences, but it's evidently working and lucrative since quite a few mobile game companies are practicing it and got financially positive results.

Personally I would prefer companies who spend much and quality time maintaining a small number of games through content updates and good customer support (i.e. Supercell) over companies that create a large amount of games while doing relatively less maintenance work, or none at all, perhaps for short term profits, or what some prefer to call "cash grab games."
