My favorite part from all 3: BBBFF- the short yet very sad and moving reprise; This Day Aria- pretty much all of it; Love is in Bloom- the piano intro before it 'officially' starts

hence my comment.

Ugg, this is hard. BBBFF is such a happy, simple, but touching song. This Day Aria... is stunning in all ways, but Love is in Bloom always makes me so pumped up for a party or something. This Day Aria is the best in terms of actually music and singing, but Love is in Bloom sounds so awesome. *It's my 2nd favorite MLP song, after Becoming Popular* Maybe I'd like BBBFF more if I had a brother, lol.

"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs

This would probably be the hardest question I been ever faced with, they were all such good songs  I

think I like This Day Aria was the best for me because I always loved villian songs. And this one was awesome. Love is in Bloom and B.B.B.F.F were also awesome songs, but they should have been longer.

B.B.B.F.F sounds like a cute song at first, but it's actually much deeper than that and it's actually a very dark song about a tyrannical government and how Twilight is forced to accept its rules and the supremacy of Celestia.

At first glance, it may sound like the "big brother" referenced in the song is Twilight's older brother. FALSE! It actually refers to none other than Princess Celestia.

The term "Big Brother" is a reference to Orwell's novel 1984 in which Big Brother is the dictator of a totalitarian society in which liberty of speech and of thought is basically nonexistent. If you aren't familiar with the book, it's about a man who lives in this totalitarian society in which all of the inhabitants are brainwashed to love "Big Brother" who is the dictator with supreme authority. The song makes the parallel between Orwell's society and Equestria. While everypony seems to be happy and to love their supreme ruler, Princess Celestia, it's really because they've been brainwashed and they have virtually no freedom.

Anyway, the lyrics go like this

When I was just a filly I found it rather silly

To see how many other ponies I could meet

This explains just how ponies are being brainwashed from the moment they are born. She did not need anypony. They are conditioned right from infancy to trust no one.

I had my books to read, didn't know that I would ever need

Other ponies to make my life complete

This only reinforces the idea that ponies are brainwashed to agree to the government's very individualist ideology. No one was important. It's everypony for themselves.

But there was one colt that I cared for

I knew he would be there for me

My big brother, best friend forever

Like I explained earlier, "Big Brother" refers to Celestia, aka the their government/dictatorship. She is the only pony for which ponies were allowed to show love and respect. The government would be there for them in the way that it supplies them for what they need to live, but it completely deprives them from their liberty and privacy in exchange. But despite that, it is all the ponies know, so they have no choice but to accept it and to like it, hence why they say that it's their "best friend forever".

Like two peas in a pod, we did everything together

He taught me how to fly a kite

We never had a single fight

Everything they do is for the government or at least indirectly related to it in some way. The second line where Twilight says he "taught her how to fly a kite" refers to how the government is the source of all they know. Education is regulated by the government. And so , all of the knowledge and information can be freely modified according to Celestia's will and intentions of the moment and the ponies will have to accept it since she is the only source of information that they know. This allows the government to control knowledge and information and so to keep the population on its side

We shared our hopes, we shared our dreams

I miss him more than I realized, it seems.

This is the really tragic part of the song. It shows just how brainwashed the pony population is. They shared their hopes and dreams with their dictator's. If the government wants something, everypony wants it too. Everypony is merely a zombie that has to truly accept as a fact whatever Celestia decides. The population and the government are like a single entity and every individual pony has no freedom of choice or of expression.

And though he's oh so far away

I hoped that he would stay

My big brother best friend

Forever

Although the government is omnipresent in everypony's life, it's head and the figure that they all admire; Celestia is far away. Even though they are treated inhumanely, ponies have developed a strong affection for their dictator and they want her to be there for them forever. It's kinda like the Stockholm Syndrome on a larger scale. The use of the word "forever" at the end is especially scary since it implies that the government is so powerful and in entire control of its population that a revolution would be absolutely impossible and so it will continue to rule Equestria this way FOREVER!

...

Okay, I admit, this whole post was a joke, I don't actually believe any of what I wrote here! This was more of a satirical over-analysis of the song haha. I'm sure Equestria is a really nice place to live and Celestia is no dictator! But this was really fun to write :P

Well, everything else was just silly...but Celestia is a Dictator 1000 years unchallenged? Dead giveaway.

After listening to them some more, I'm starting to like BBBFF a lot. It's just so upbeat, it's a nice change of pace from most things in life.

B.B.B.F.F, easily, This Day Aria came out of the left field and shocked me, but B.B.B.F.F shocked me even more, and was upbeat and catch. Then I heard the Archie remix of it.

Holy crap. Second best MLP song ever.

Plus, Mythbusters proved it was better to end with a bang. And Bloom is close enough to Boom for me.

"This Day Aria" by a mile. When I first heard BBBFF, I thought it was the worst song to be aired in the entire series. I must say, however, that listening to it more has made me change my tune, as it were. I now like it much more, but "This Day Aria" is just simply better to my ears.

Happy minion of The Fabulous One!

Oh dang, such a toughie. I absolutely love all three of these songs. They work their way into the two-parter so perfectly too. We've got a song that sets up the plot and the characters, the villain's song, and the happy ending song.

They're all awesome, but I gotta go with This Day Aria. It's a really well made song, and really captures Queen Chrysalis' intentions in song form. The haunting vibe of the song really made the execution of A Canterlot Wedding's unexpected dark side excellent. The contrast between Cadance and Chrysalis was also excellent.

From an objective standpoint This Day Aria probably has a lot more going for it than the other two. It's a deliciously fun villain song and the split between Chrysalis and Cadence portrays a lot of fun emotions. Oddly enough, I listen to Love is in Bloom a lot more. The beat picks me up a bit.

Something is missing in here... hmm, Oh, yeah! The "all of above" poll's selection :\, btw I like "Love is in Bloom", the beat is unstopable xD, but the others is awesome too, Hasbro never disappointed me :P.

Man these songs were like my top 3 until Babs Seed came out x)

Above all, This Day Aria beats the other two songs IMO. All of the songs were great, in fact I almost like all of them equally. I just loved Cadence's voice, and it was really rare for a major villain to sing a song. Honestly, I think this was the first song that I actually bothered to learn the lyrics to sing ;D
