gaming Zelda U Delayed + NX Port

@@Shift,

Oh. Der. I got started on Final Fantasy and Nintendo became irrelevant.

Prepare for bitterness in that case. I guess there's the possibility of there still being a Wii-U version (which adds to my suspicions that the NX version will just be a Wii-U game with slightly better graphics) but if the NX is truly that much more powerful then it needs to be exclusive to fully realize its potential.

Look: I know Nintendo fans have legitimate cause to complain and even Nintendo's detractors have solid points.  But I've watched Nintendo "fans" whine endlessly about EVERY.  LITTLE.  THING.  Everything.  I saw people on Miiverse hate-spam onto every VC release that wasn't precisely the title they wanted to play.  I saw people on Miiverse hate-spam onto games aimed at younger audiences because they were so damned afraid of the Wii U being considered a console for children.  I've seen people who wanted the Wii U to die an abrupt death in its first year and people who expect a commercially unsuccessful console to continue being unsuccessful for who knows how long.  I've had worthwhile gaming experiences with my Wii U console because I both knew what I wanted from it and knew how to make the best of what I got.  I'm not saying it shouldn't have been better, but it's not the world-ending event some self-proclaimed Nintendo fans have been making it out to be from day one.

But just on the other side of things, a lot of die hard Nintendo fans will admit Nintendo does no wrong.

After today I think I truly am done with this company. I am sick of the incompetence and ignorance. I think its for the best if we part ways, Nintendo. Good luck with NX, you're gonna need it.

And my mind is made in case anyone decides to reply to this. Done.

I think there are times like these where I really shouldn't be looking at Nintendo with rose-coloured glasses. I do firmly believe they can still create great games. But with business practices like these, it's only going to set them up for failure. Next thing you know it, they will probably cancel Zelda U entirely and it'll really impact the company as a whole negatively. Nintendo shouldn't be this afraid to take risks, because at this time and point, they really need to pull off something crazy.

I doubt they would cancel it entirely, but I would not be surprised if they cancelled the Wii U port.

I will say this: Considering everything that's happened since last E3 up until now with their corporate restructuring and all, these next few months are gonna be really interesting to watch, for better or for worse

But I don't know anything about the new Zelda game anyway. Last thing I saw of it was that thing they showed when it was released and they said you could travel to every corner of that world you were seeing.

That's the thing, we know absolutely nothing about the game aside from the artstyle/graphics and that it will feature a large world.

That's it.

We actually were never told those were the finalized graphics.

That being said we have been hinted at the possibility of a female link, and that the game will be "somewhat" open world. We also know that Nintendo wants the game to be a console seller now.

There's also the possibility of VA, which I feel should've happened by TP, but w/e

Does anyone think that MAYBE Nintendo intends to have the two systems coexist??

I mean, even I can agree that it is completely unlikely, but it is a slim possibility. We know that the NX is supposed to be a more "hardcore" system that appeals to more core gamers and to gain 3rd party support, but couldn't it be that that is all its supposed to do? That they may leave the Wii U alive for some of their more family oriented games?

For example, I believe the next FULL Animal Crossing game would do well on the Wii U (especially if it was a combination of New Leaf with Happy Home Designer elements) because the game pad would do well for inventory management and floor layouts.

Considering that it may be that the handheld market (the 3DS) is starting to fade out, I feel like the Wii U would make a good platform for those style games. Thus, why I believe, if done correctly, Nintendo COULD theoretically have them coexist.

Zelda is a great launch title for their new system no doubt, but I feel that, if what I said WAS the direction they were going to go, then releasing it on both platforms would make sense.

  • First: Great launch title for a new system
  • 2nd: Will give the game to those who bought the Wii U for the game
  • 3rd: Gives them a chance to see what they can fully do with the game with both systems, theres a chance that no party will lose out in regards to the gameplay or graphics....just saying...

No, they never do.

Very slim given their history. They "promised" they would support the Wii after the Wii U came out and that ended in like... 6 months.

Running two systems would become expensive and hard to advertise both and support them. Remember they need an entire team to work on these things after release, cover production costs, etc. It's just not a good idea to run two systems at once and no company has ever really been able to successfully pull off two "current" systems at the same time. It separates their fans and kind of creates unneeded expenses when they could consolidate into one system.

Oh absolutely. It would do amazing.

Possible but if the next gen version isn't really a big bump up, it creates no reason to get the new console. Someone is going to have to lose out in order for sales to happen, my money is on Wii U owners because Nintendo is not about to spend billions on new hardware to risk not giving it a headstart that it will need.

Update:

Just found this article: https://mynintendonews.com/2015/06/29/rumour-diddy-kong-racing-2-is-apparently-being-developed-for-the-nx/

My Nintendo News is fairly reliable about this stuff... But I am SEVERELY hoping they are wrong here because some of the things they've said are worrying:

"Nintendo is aiming at launching the NX for $149.99."

How? You can't give away hardware that is as strong as the Xbox One or PS4 at such a price, you'll be suffering a market loss.

"The reason for the cheap price point is that Nintendo doesn’t want to compete against the Xbox One and PlayStation 4."

Oh no... What's the point in making this then!?

"Wii U development kits are being used to develop NX software; the NX hardware is technically a Wii U except with higher memory bandwidth and a more balanced CPU."

Noooooooooooooooooo!

Please for the love of god be untrue...

Personally I never liked MyNintendoNews much and don't find them reliable. With that said, I think this rumor is a crock of shit. First off any of that info would make the system one of the most pointless ones ever made, even more so than the NEO. I know Nintendo has made a lot of mistakes regarding past consoles, but after the Wii U there's no way they can't be this fucking dense.

Also this rumor is the exact opposite of pretty much every other NX rumor we've heard yet, most of which have come from much more credible/verified sources. And this one? Who is Kevin Callahan and why should I trust him?

And lastly $150? There's no fucking way. That's sounds awesome but there'd have to be some sort of catch

I'm calling bullshit

I am severely hoping it is. I am crossing my fingers and my toes because if this was the case... Dead on arrival.

I kind of understand why the Neo is happening. We kind of skipped a generation of consoles so the Neo is kind of an attempt to get caught up. Since it won't be a "needed" upgrade for some time, at least they are transitioning to it better than Nintendo did with the "New" 3DS where they instantly released exclusive games for it. Sony probably will wait a few years then push towards the newer model. It's a smarter plan really because it kind of makes the transition seamless.

Like I said, I am hoping severely that this is false, but I am going to at least put it on the burner as "maybe" so that if it DOES become true, I won't be too surprised.

@@Key Sharkz,

Yeeeeaaah, i'm calling bullshit. If the system is really $150 I would be ecstatic, but I honestly doubt it. And as for it being a slightly better Wii U... I agree with Megas, Nintendo has made tons of stupid decisions lately but they're definitely not this dense. It's alright if they make the NX compatible with some of the Wii U features/build off of them, like making it gamepad compatible or something, but I honestly doubt that they would make the NX a carbon coby of the Wii U except with a few changes to make it have better hardware.

Like I said, I am severely hoping that's not the case either... But Nintendo has misinterpretted the Wii's success for some time to where I wouldn't put it entirely past them to think trying the Wii U again with a different name is a good idea...

Yeah I agree with the others, I don't think its true even in the slightest honestly. I get what you're saying about having it on the backburner as a maybe, but I doubt this is really true....

Unless....

Nintendo is TRYING to commit company suicide...which also wouldn't make much sense. Their company is over 100 years old, I don't see why they would just give up now, and because of how old their company is, does it really seem logical to make such a dense, and dumb decision? I don't think so anyways.

So while there are gaming coming to NX in March... Nintendo is going the bad route when it comes to advertising and apparently saying that Zelda U is the only game that is going to be at E3 2016.

Why is it that we've gotten nothing but continuous suspicious news for these past few consecutive days??

Does it seem weird to anyone else? Like, I'm somewhat concerned that just very SUDDENLY for these past few days all we have gotten is suspicious or negative or strange convoluted news concerning Nintendo....

Like it seems odd to me...

Well I know that, but the big things we've been discussing in here have been recent news over the last few days is all I'm saying...

It just seems all coincidental maybe? I don't know lol

They never said it was going to be the only game at E3, just that it's gonna be the only playable one. They'll still likely have some more games to announce...

I hope
