A better way to test which Pinkie Pie was the real one

Here's a question; Why did they have to get rid of the clones in the first place? The worst crime they commited was being a little annoying and some property damage, and yet they don't have a right to exist? Clearly if that other Pinkie in manehattan is any indication they can think and act independently well enough to be considered sapient. Why not just give them a stretch of land? Why not just set them up with some kind of business? Why not do ANYTHING instead of straight murdering them?

We don't know for certain that the other clones are DEAD dead. We saw their essences go back into the pool, what if they can be brought back somehow? Would make for a good melee scene in a season-end battle episode.

 

Or biofission...imagine if she could do it without the spell, like a certain DC comics character...

Wait a minute. Twilight never would throw away test results, even non conclusive ones. She would still have a brain scan of Pinkie Prime (Love the sound of that!) from "Feeling Pinkie Keen". I would bet a hundred bits that the copies would have a different, possibly degraded brainwave pattern!

I don't know from what I believe nobody but the real Pinkie can only use the Element of Laughter. Mainly because once it has chosen it's owner it doesn't move away from her unless there was a big shift.

 

And since the Element of Laughter is a part of the Elements of Harmony, it wouldn't work with the other Pinkie Pies that are a personification of Pinkie Pie's playful nature, they are selfish and only look for the fun as a result can't get serious and bond with the Elements of Harmony for greater justice. How Twilight figured out Pinkie Pie out of them all was by her caring more than about fun for instance that is how her Element of Laughter would work. I mean if the Element of Laughter worked for anyone that lived in laughter that means it could work on the Joker which I doubt it would since he doesn't have a side that cares about harmony.

 

Pinkie's power of laughter was for her friends not just for herself.

You make a persuasive argument, cider.  Sounds to me like the element would have worked.  Probably would have been a better method than Twi's test.  Her test isn't really proof.  It just relies on the assumption that the real Pinkie would be the most determined to stay.

Just asking "who is the ruler of Equestria?" would have sufficed. The mirror copies didn't even know the names of the other Mane Six members, so they would have no idea how to answer.
