One of my worst experiences in a fandom period came from the Sonic fandom. More than anything else, it's the pettiness people have over differing opinions - it's in every fandom, for sure, but it runs especially rampant in the Sonic fandom, to the point I was practically chased out of it because I didn't think Sonic Colors was the best thing since sliced bread and I thought Sonic Boom was going to be bad before it came out because I didn't like the designs (and what do you know, now that I'm gone, people are contesting these very things and recognizing what I said before...go figure).

that fanbase...... its so messed up. like more so than the dark side bronies and furry fandoms.

sonic fanbase is kinda where the rejects of the furry fandom go, or its the opposite and is the gateway to being a a terrible furry. (im an ex furry myself, but theres a huge number of fecked up fetish loving members). Sonic fanbase doesnt shy from fetishes either x.x

I'm not sure, there will always be haters for each fandom. I know nothing about the Sonic The Hedgehog fandom, so I can't say exactly why it's hated by many.

Like most fandoms it gets judged by its most extreme fans, who draw weird fetish art and don't allow any kind of criticism of their beloved franchise. I'm sure the vast majority of Sonic fans are perfectly reasonable people just like the majority of Bronies are.
