health Anosmia

Hey guys. Flyer here!

I just have a question. Does anyone else here have Anosmia?

For those who don't know what that is, let me explain: Anosmia describes a situation where a person has no functioning olfactory system. So to make a long story short, they can't smell.

I myself have suffered from this since I was a baby. Is this abnormal for someone to have been born with?

I think i actually acquired this condition, or at least partially acquired it. My sense of taste and scent have been really weak since my teenage years. I can only smell strong odors, and only particular ones at that.

I think a friend of mine has this, at least to some extent. I always seem to smell different things that he is completely unaware of, like good food from a restaurant nearby. So I am busy drooling over the good food smell and he is like 'eh?' :P

My sense of smell has weakened over the years to the extent where I can only smell the utmost strongest of things, usually faintly at that. Like when I was stood in the middle of Solfatara in Italy (a dormant volcano that has steam vents that emit an extremely strong sulphuric odour) I could only just smell the sulphur, I could taste it more than I could smell it. My sense of taste has been impacted by my ever weakening sense of smell too, but no where near as much.

Sounds like me with my friends, except I'm the one that can never smell anything.

I had a bad sense of smell for years. It turns out it was due to my parent's cat when I still lived there. She has a finer softer fur. I have my own house now and my own cat too, but he has coarser fur. I don't have as much of a problem and don't blow my nose as much anymore either. You can smell better if don't constantly have mild allergies.:ooh: Who knew?:muffins:

An important thing related to the Coronavirus of early 2020... If you suddenly do lose your senses of taste and smell, WATCH YOUR HEALTH carefully. You may have the virus, as it is a common symptom.
