I like foils, but let's not go overboard, so stop making more Twilight foils. With Trix, Sunny, Moondancer and Starlight, I think we got plenty of characters filling the same archetype.

I think the Twilight foils ties into my "do not want" list, in that I want the two parters to STOP focusing on Twilight specifically or Twilight and her foil; the last 2 two parters for example were basically twilight/glimmer episodes with the other 5 as cameos, and I expect the same will happen in the Finale here.

I know its bringing the EQG universe into this, but I don't want a situation where it boils down to twilight and a Clone/Foil being the characters who two parters are about with the other five's role being to be power batteries.

I know I'll get screamed at SPECIFICALLY for this, but I'd also like less starlight: I really just don't feel her as a character, and even BEFORE my previous complaint above, I just don't like her that much or find her that appealing: At least Sunset shimmer I can find enjoyable as a character when the Spotlight hogging issue isn't around, but even in slice of life I find starlight boring. So I don't want to see her become a seventh member either.

 

 

 

Now, moving on: I don't want to see Chrysalis redeemed; I don't want changelings in general to be redeemed. Stop at maybe one or two good ones if you have to have good ones, but don't end up turning this into a thing where it turns out that like 90% of them just "want to be good" and its only chrysalis making them be evil.

I LIKE my evil succubi, and I want that to be their major role.

I don't want to see Tirek redeemed; I want him to remain an engine of destruction with only personal greed to fuel him.

Basically: STOP REDEEMING CHARACTERS; I'd be here listing all the characters I DON'T want redeemed otherwise.

 

 

 

Alright: I don't want to see the show time skip to focus on the CMC. I really don't care too much for them as a group, and I know that, while many would like to see them be a time skip 5.0 gen, I just wouldn't care for that.

I like the mane six, and I think there's still TONS of stories to tell about them; By contrast, I honestly think the CMC are pretty damned boring, Applebloom especially. Sweetie belle I actually like and see potential in, but I really can't find a whole lot redeeming about applebloom compared to her compatriots.

 

 

Hmmm. I Want less unicorns and more history and legendary figures from Earth pony and Pegasi races. All the super important ponies seem to be Unicorns really, like meadowbrook and starswirl.

 

On that note, I honestly don't want any "new" pony races to just suddenly show up out of the blue and take up residence in equestria, like seaponies just suddenly being added in an episode and being a "normal" race in equestria. At this point, I think that if any more pony races show up, they should be quasi-mysterious and live far away in their own lands.

I only got three

 

- Twilight foils. Apart from Suri Polomare(Rarity), and Lightning Dust(Rainbow Dash), any foils introduced is pretty much Twilight's. Like she's got enough, let AJ, Pinkie and Fluttershy have one before shitting out more Twilight clones

- Applebloom getting all the CMC episodes. Not because I dislike her or anything, but she's constantly getting more episodes while Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle are still severely lacking. She had what, 3? 4? by the end of season 2 before Scootaloo could even get any. It especially sucks since I find the other two more interesting, and still with plenty for them to do, the episodes they've had are some of the show's best(SiP, SS, FWTSBT, FttF), vs Applebloom's which is the complete opposite for me

- More Rarijack. They hang out with other characters don't they? I'm so goddamn sick of this pair, I don't find it very interesting, and barring Sisterhooves Social, most episodes featuring the pair sucks. I'd be much happier if they'd try to use more pairs that could use more exposure

 

EDIT: Oh yeah, more redeemed characters, that one too. Like, if they want to, at least pick one that makes sense. Starlight's was the straw that broke the camels back for me

I'd love to see a good AJ foil, but what would they be like?

They currently have the flim flam brothers as Quasi-foils to her due to being Con artists compared to her being Honest, but I really don't feel them as true anti-AJ foils, yeah?

 

 

I kind of wonder what a nega-AJ foil would be like in the way we have LD and Suri; Its a bit harder to give AJ a foil due to AJ being so laid back and without ambition in life. The three of the six who have truly defined foils all have Ambitions and goals in life to allow them to come into conflict with clones: RD wants to be a wonderbolt, Rarity has her dream of opening boutiques and twilight has her princess arc, but the other 3 mane six have little "get up and go" for them.

I guess the things I wouldn't really like to see in the future is Starlight becoming a part of "Mane 7". I feel like our 6 main characters have a special bond that nothing should interfere with. I really like her, but I think she should be somewhere between the main characters and the background ones.

 

Also, just like the others, I don't want to see Chrysalis becoming a good character. We need some "bad guys" to stay in the show, because if everything would become nice and friendly, there wouldn't be many things to look forward to.

I am so sick and tired of them at this point and with how terrible Starlight's was, it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

It got me to realize that reformations have always been one of the show's weakest points.

If Chrysalis gets redeemed at the end of the season, I am going to scream.

Besides that I don't want to see another episode about background ponies, because it is hard for me to get invested on background props with less personality than an MCU villain that isn't Loki or Ultron.

And after that, I don't really want to see a season 7 as I feel it would be best for the show to end here, as a lot of the major characters have reached their end goals, like CMC getting their Cutie Marks, Rarity getting her boutique, and Rainbow becoming a wonderbolt.

Plus at this point, pretty much everyone who originally worked on the show has left, and that is usually the sing to wrap things up unless you want the show to end up like the last two seasons of the original PPGs.

Than there would be the concept of Starlight becoming a mane 7.

Even though I don't really hate her, Starlight's reformation would have to be my least favorite thing that has happened in the entire show, and she honestly hasn't done anything or put any sort of effort or have any sort of real struggles that would make me believe that she deserves that sort of title.

1. So many new characters. Season 6 has been way better for this, but season 5 repeatedly took the spotlight off of characters we know and care about for some random pony we may or may not ever see again.

 

2. An increased focus on action. Just not what this show is about, and not why I watch this show. Keep it focused on character development and I'll be fine.

 

3. Sympathetic Chrysalis. I'm not as passionate about reformations, but sure, why not. Reform as many changelings as you want, but Chrysalis seemed to enjoy destruction too much to *just* be feeding her people.

 

4. Rarity/Applejack dynamic. Don't see why people like this, and it's way, WAY overdone. Gimme more Rarity/Rainbow Dash instead.

 

5. Fluttershy being a scaredy cat. Glad "Flutter Brutter" moved past this, so can we please not regress?

This runs into the problem of "What now?" for fluttershy's episodes though.

 

Its an issue I bring up alot, but fluttershy has no Goals in life, so apart from her overcoming her fears and shyness, what could her episodes be about?

There is the option of making her teach Discord about Friendship, but for some reason that INFURIATES ME, they choose to do these lessons with Twilight instead of fluttershy (Look at all the discord episodes we've gotten: the vast majority of them are about him AND TWILIGHT, with only ONE fluttershy/discord episode). So it seems like something the crew don't want to pursue with Fluttershy, and we've already pushed discord pretty fully into redemption territory after S4.

 

I'd love to see some episodes focusing on fluttershy outside of being a scaredy cat, but they'd have to sit back and come up with some new things to introduce to her life to make her fresh, like how they changed up RD's mechanics by adding in tank or her idolizing daring do for more plot ideas. (Hell, next to twilight, RD probably has THE MOST plot hooks they can use for her of the cast)

I actually would be fine with the movie being the finale, but yeah, I'd HATE for S6 to be the finale for the show in general; Its meta-plot has been pretty freaking poor overall, and it just seems a poor showing of the themes and bonds of the group as a whole.

I would have accepted S4 as a good Finale to the show, with its Finale having a good 5 minutes that closed the series well IMO (Showing the six as a group succeeding, the castle and the chairs, plus Twilight wrapping up her princess arc... before they tried to drag it out MORE), but S5 and S6 just don't do it for a closing IMO.

I don't want Vinyl scratch to get a role simply because I think she works best as a mute. I think it contrasts well with her musical DJ status.

Derpy I'm fine with speaking, but I think that being mute is kind of vinyl's "Thing" at this point.

Adversarial relationships provide easy conflict. That's really the only explanation; it also explains why pairing Rarity and Applejack is so popular. Easy conflict even though it's kinda grating.

I agree. Also I think that some of the underused pairs make for better and more subtle conflicts, as much as I like Rarijack they really evolved past a conflict. • Don't simply throw characters away. This is an entire potential universe, and every single character clearly has a life outside of the 22-minute segments.

Don't focus exclusively on Twilight in a season premiere or finale.

No more all-powerful villains that have the Mane 6 massively outmatched and are only defeated by letting them win.

The Mane 7 HAVE to use their powers when appropriate.

No more stories that have to be padded to fill 22 minutes.

Don't just use one show. Different shows with different mane casts provide even more storytelling opportunities.

Don't focus too much on action to the point of becoming a video game you can't play.

Don't let a Changeling turn into a character from another franchise. Save that for crossover fan works.

There needs to be a lot more Rarity/Dash. Loved that pairing since "Rarity Investigates!", and their combination of clashing interests and mutual respect for each other's lofty ambitions is so great and has so much potential.

A FEW MORE:

 

1. Stagnant character arcs. C'mon, these characters still have plenty of room to grow. Just plot them a course and let everything follow from there.

 

(Although, arguably the show has already fulfilled most of the arcs it started with.)

 

2. Related: compelling ideas compressed to fit in a single episode. Does Discovery Family not allow ANY continuity? A bare minimum of serialization would do wonders for allowing the show to stretch its wings and not try to cram too much into too brief a time. I swear, "No Second Prances" was an outright tease with regards to potential deeper characterization.

 

3. Monster-a-day style two-patters. The formula's gone stale by now, so I want more unique two-patters like the slice-of-life S6 opener.
