A childhood favorite for many 90s kids, including me. It seems to me a lot of people remember this film fondly, but among critics it is almost universally panned. What are your thoughts on this classic? to me it's one of the most bizarre premises I've ever seen, but still fairly entertaining and a good nostalgia trip. I don't think making a sequel is a good idea though.

I watched it in choir class back in fifth grade. I remember liking it, but I'm not sure how I'd feel watching it again. All I can say is

COME ON AND SLAM

AND WELCOME TO THE JAM

And on that note, feast your eyes and ears on this:

Is it still a terrible movie? Yes. That doesn't mean I can't love it. It's still a classic, and it's still awesome. Watching it now is a great nostalgia trip.

And just so you guys know, the original Space Jam website is still online, and I'm not sure it's ever been updated. If you want to experience a classic terrible 90's website, look that up.

Loved Space Jam back then, and I still love it to this day, not to mention the song from Quad City DJ's which never gets old.

Oh, and as for a Quad City DJ's remix.

Space Jam was my childhood yo, can't resist the slam jam! Monstars and Moron Mountain are like burned into my regular vocabulary lol. Still great to me to this day, only truly bad and dated and dated aspects are some of the effects.

When I was a kid there was big border between live action films and cartoons, not like it's today. So such... things... like this and Who Framed Roger Rabbit just exploded my imagination.

An yeah, now I like basketball too XD Maybe it's influence of this movie.

I love Space Jam. It may not be the most brilliantly written movie of all time but the toons make it fun anyway. It's a lot better than some of the more uninspired toon/live mixes we've seen like Looney Tunes: Back In Action and Cool World, even though it lacks the greatness of the classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The fact is, I can appreciate the effort and the idea. I like the toons and I like to see them interacting with the human live-action world. I always thought that was a great premise. I would welcome a sequel (especially with more Lola Bunny!) :o

  • 7 years later...

It's been years since I saw it... Back then I would watch pretty much anything with the Looney Tunes characters in it, so I did enjoy it, but it was never one of my favorites.

I knew essentially nothing about basketball, so the Looney Tunes antics were the main thing for me. And there were quite a few cartoony moments (even some involving the live-action cast). Probably my favorite thing was how they brought back some forgotten characters for cameos – when was the last time we had seen Sniffles, for example? As for the negatives, not all of the voices were that good – Tweety came nowhere near Mel Blanc's performance. And I wasn't a fan of Lola Bunny – I didn't find her entertaining, though the design of the character wasn't bad by any means. I'd rather have seen an original Looney Tune like Petunia Pig get an opportunity to shine!

As for the sequel, I've never seen it. I might check it out at some point if I get the chance, but I'm not overly interested based on what I've heard.
