I've watched both reviews he made for the finale and I agreed with what he said for the most part. One or two things I didn't agree with him on but overall he was in the ballpark.

I eventually grew to appreciate the new looks for the Changelings whereas he appeared to dismiss them. His opinion might have changed since then from watching that part again.

They're a cuweird insect-pony hybrid race. It's a bit hard to do something nice out of that. Pretty sure they went through a lot of trial and error before accepting this design.

I actually like Thorax and the new design of the Changelings myself. It was how the episode was written and treated the Mane Six and Royal Family that was the only gripe I had with it.

I have no idea, but it must have taken a while before they settled on these designs and how they did the finale.

I was disappointed with the finale. When I heard the title and saw the screenshots used for the thumbnails in the episode video on youtube, I was interested in what this episode could be. The title, "to where and back again" with the inclusion of Starlight, Discord, the changelings, and Trixie, signified something new. I thought Twilight would be the main focus but I thought the episode would be about her reflecting on the past in regards to all the lives she had changed for the better. So "where" would be the unknown and "back again" being ponyville. I guess who knows what that title meant. Maybe it meant nothing.

 

Instead we get an invasion plot that we don't even get to see while all the important characters get pushed aside for the "B team", who loses all the powers that helps to make them interesting. Changelings are ruined, I assume permanently. The designs are not what I would have suggested. Others have already mentioned plenty about why that is the case.

 

I guess I just don't like that the Changelings took over Equestria so easily either. They should have lost.

Some people were probably surprised that Thorax ended up saving the day. I was actually expecting Starlight to go through the big transformation, but all she ended up doing was encourage Thorax into doing the right thing. I ended up being partially correct. I knew there would be a change but not the character I was expecting.

Yeah, but it was Starlight who encouraged the Changelings to follow Thorax's lead, make up for kidnapping the Royal Family and Elements of Harmony earlier, and destroy Chrysalis' throne, freeing the very ponies they kidnapped and cocooned earlier from their prisons.

I actually have a question about those changed-lings. Do you think they can "devolve"? Let's say a changeling absorbs the love from a changed-ling, will that revert them back to changeling?

Alicorns are supposed to be a rarity and yet we're up to five of them now. I can understand what you mean about how it would cheapen their overall impact were a sixth alicorn were to appear. Starlight not having a great destiny? For now this is true but we don't know what the writers are planning when it comes to her future character development.

No kidding they would. I think we've got enough Alicorn Princesses as it is with Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Twilight, and Flurry Heart. We don't need any more of them any time soon. I would prefer some Alicorn lore instead to satisfy me come the next season in the Spring.

I liked that Trixie was featured, I need more Trixie. A bit indifferent about Thorax (why does this name is?) and Lord Discord. And I just Luv, LUV LUUVV Starlight all the time.   

Plot wise, though I don't have high expectations for plots of any shows, I was a bit disappointed in the royalty and heroes of Equestria. Getting got so easily by Chrysalis' hive goons is nothing short of a shameful display. But I have to wonder if Celestia is even trying anymore. I mean she's been around for ages. I wouldn't be surprised if she's so horribly bored that she's thinking of catching the next train out of Equestria for good.

That being said, I have thoroughly enjoyed every episode of the show and this is no exception.

Still does not excuse the fact that the writers keep putting them into situations that they have to be saved from by other characters, especially here with Cadance, Shining Armor, Flurry Heart, and the Mane Six as well.
