gaming Opinions On The Nintendo Switch?

The Wii U Pro Controller was sold separately from the two Wii U bundles, so I'm assuming the same will be true here. Again, this is all just speculation on my part. I could be completely and utterly wrong.

Speaking of bundles, I wonder if the Switch will have multiple versions? The Wii U had the 8GB and 32GB versions yet the latter proved to be superior given it had more storage. Would they try this tactic again?

I know, but the reason I think it may be included is that it was shown off so prominently in the trailer. I'm hoping Nintendo doesn't try that tactic again. Just release the system with the highest amount of GB space you can and don't waste your time developing smaller ones because no-one's gonna buy them, I don't see the 8GB Wii U appealing to anyone in my eyes, you can barely fit anything on it. Also, since the console will be portable, I think one cool way to get around the problem of space (for games available on cartridge anyway) is for Nintendo to create some kind of mini Switch cartridge holder, so like a case with a few Switch cartridge slots in it that can fit in your pocket for easy switching of games.

I'd say that releasing the Wii U in two versions wasn't their smartest idea. I get why they did it though. Those who had a smaller budget would be interested in the 8GB since it was cheaper, yet it lacked storage space along with other key components. The 32GB was the full package and much more expensive, and was what most people bought anyway. A mini Switch cartridge holder... I'm liking the sound of that. It would make space less of a problem, but would they consider it?

Yeah, I guess it makes sense, what with Nintendo being the only company left that doesn't make you install games even on a disc, those with a smaller budget would be smart enough to buy the games on disc whenever possible and only download the download exclusives.

I actually think Nintendo might consider it. I remember seeing them do a similar thing with DS cases before. Heck, if Nintendo themselves don't do it, there are a lot of 3rd party companies out there who make accessories for Nintendo products, you'd be surprised, they could probably make one.

Perhaps the disappointing thing about this is that it will not be backwards compatible in the same sense as the Wii or WiiU since this uses cartridges instead of disks. But a home and mobile console. Wow. As a PC gamer, I haven't been excited about consoles like this in a long time.

Well, there will be ports if that counts for anything.

I think most people are going to buy Switch games via physical copy instead of a digital download. Depending on how much storage will be included in the system, buying games instead of downloading them would save players valuable storage space. Of course, I expect the Switch to come with certain things already installed thus reducing storage before it's even out of the box.

Well, the Wii U didn't have any pre-installed games.

No, but it had other things pre-installed that weren't games. Those take up storage space as well.

True, I'm hoping it won't be much of a hindrance.

Personally i really like it i might actually pick this up after it comes out i travel sometimes kinda rare or occasions and this is perfict for me and i like the design

Yeah, I love how simple and sleek it looks.

I showed my dad what the Switch looked like earlier and he appeared to like it.

Well, that's neat. That makes me wonder if this'll hit at all with parents? I think they'll probably like it more than the Wii U at least, I took a couple hours for my mum to understand what the Wii U was.

I even told him that it was being released next March which did surprise him. To be fair, releasing anything around March/April is seen as awkward because of how quiet those two months can be regarding the gaming industry.

Yeah, even with the Switch itself the launch lineup is looking a little bare at the moment, even for Nintendo. Nine games have been confirmed so far, only 5 of which I care about. Still, I'll wait as long as I have to, because if there's anything I learned from the Wii U It's that Nintendo drops the good games one by one over time it seems, their console launches aren't their strong suit. However, I guess that might be a good thing, because as some have said, releasing a ton of titles at the same time can lead to bad consequences.

It has to do with how third party developers deal with Nintendo's success. If Nintendo were to release several of their top franchise games all at once, that would please fans but upset third parties because they can't compete with what they have which consists of shovelware most of the time. If Nintendo released one or two games, the third parties would be pleased but then fans would be upset.

It's an unfortunate position for Nintendo to be in because it's a lose-lose situation.

I think they should launch with a mix of first and third party titles, and it seems like they are. We have Dragon Quest X and XI, plus Steamworld Heist confirmed, Just Dance 2017 (Though Just Dance doesn't interest me, I do have to wonder how they're going to make that work on the Switch...) and the rest are first party.

That would be their best bet. A mixture of the two instead of one dominating the other. They need to not make the mistake they made with the 3DS and the Wii U when it comes to launch line-ups.

I actually thought the 3DS had a decent launch.

In Nintendo's eyes, it didn't work out because it was overpriced, had poor third party games that didn't live up to expectations, and the two games they themselves released weren't what fans were hoping for. The 3DS turned things around when Ocarina of Time 3D was released a couple of months later.

Perhaps they should have waited longer to launch it then.

Patience isn't one of the company's better qualities.

True, but then again Sony and Microsoft aren't exactly patient either...

It's all about rushing to get products out in order to meet certain deadlines or important holidays. Of course, taking things slowly can also have a negative effect.
