gaming Worst Game(s) of 2016

With each year that passes, we get some really good games. Also with each new year, we get some really bad games, Games that just fail to live up to what they were wanting to do entirely or games that are just plain awful in execution. I have already made a thread for this year's best games, you can check that out here!

So to you, what are the WORST games that were released in 2016?

I know one of them for me is 7 Days to Die. Telltale essentially released the game unfinished on consoles and charging 35$ for it! Screw that. It is a shame too because I love the concept, but I want that concept to be finished before I friggin purchase it.

If we're talking about games failing to live up to expectation, then by far the worst launch this year was 'No Mans Sky' which is increasingly looking like the death blow for Hello Games. The game itself is mediocre, not 'bad' but not good either. The problem is that it was marketed terribly, it cost too much and it failed to deliver what it promised. Not a terrible game, but a terrible 'everything else'.

As for the worst game of the year, Its kinda hard to say. 7 Days to Die is great on PC but the console port is abysmal and really shouldn't have been released, but that's a technical problem and not exactly the 'game' in a sense. The new Homefront game was pretty bad too, but not bad enough to be the worst in my eyes. Im really not sure but Id say overall we've had a decent year for games.

I think one of the worst games released this year was Mighty No. 9. That game had a tumultuous development cycle what with constant delays, a radical shift in graphics, and that infamous trailer just to name a few problems. Even now, those who funded the kickstarter have regretted their decision based on the final product.

What Ganondorf said, I've forgotten how to mention. Plus No Mans Sky. Game itself isn't that bad but what they said would be in the game compared to what is actually in the game is pretty shocking.

There are probably worse games out there this year, but Starfox Zero and TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan are definitely some of the most heartbreaking games for me this year both of which were real shyt, especially since they're both from my favorite developer, Platinum(though I blame SF Zero's shortcomings on Nintendo), especially after coming off the excellent Bayonetta 2 and Transformers. And the fact that Zero was the first Starfox game in a while only to turn out that it was another fucking remake of 64 is infuriating

I was interested in ReCore until I heard Inafune was on the team. His royal fuck up with Mighty No. 9 killed any credibility he had. Not that I played Mighty No. 9 myself but it was a train wreck to me before it was even released and the post-release hubbub pretty much confirmed that for me.

I watched Brain Scratch Comms. play through the game a couple of months ago so I saw what I needed to see regarding how bad it really was. Inafune royally screwed up with this one but I'm not sure if it will set him back that much.

No Man's Sky was the ultimate trainwreck of 2016.

I had enormous hopes for that game to say the least. It was my dreamgame, focusing on exploration and survival, giving huge space with endless supply of planets to explore. There were sand planets (I love that kind of enviroment), grassy planets, all kind of them (well, no gas giants, but I got over that). I loved the screenshots, it was literally what I was waiting for for many years.

But then I got suspicious. The price was outrageous to say the least (60 dollars? c'mon, it's indie game! ). I decided not to preorder it, I am not sleeping on money myself and today the only gaming company I trust is CD Project RED. Besides where were the reviews before the release?

And then the game was released. And oh.my.god, I don't think I have to tell anyone what happened. Big shame on Hello Games. They had a chance to set new road for future games. They had a chance to become one of the most successful game developers. Instead they gave us half baked... something. To quote Angry Joe: "as wide as an ocean, but has a depth of a poddle". It earned itself a title of worst rated steam game. And to make things better steam even put reminder on its page that it... too is a part of return policy XDD

*rings bell* SHAME! (I wonder if anyone gets what is that from lol)

Star Ocean 5 has been the worst one I've played this year. It wasn't super bad or anything but even though I enjoyed it when I played I can remember little about it. I regularly forget it exists.

As much as I love Street Fighter, I would have to say SFV. The game has made improvements since it was released, but there is still more they can do to improve the game, like add Arcade mode and fix the online modes.

I have a new wonderful nominee for one of the worst games of 2016: Clustertruck for Xbox One. This is an ungodly mess that exists purely for stupid lets players to scream at. The gameplay is dull, the visuals are terrible, the difficulty is entirely unfair with one of the worst final levels in gaming history and an overall lack of proper game design. On top of this, the Xbox One version does NOT have the custom levels or even LEADERBOARDS that the PC has. The developers are insanely incompetent.

TinyBuild should try publishing a game that isn't some piece of shit YouTuber bait.
