ManaMinori 4,145 November 3, 2016 Share November 3, 2016 Fan made items have a charm of uniqueness, exclusivity, and care, and more often than not, higher quality from the craftsman/fellow fan that makes them, compared to factory manufactured official merchandise. Creative Bronies are some of the most talented assortment of artists I've seen. For those reasons, I have always longed to have a few fan made pieces of my own (mostly Sunset Shimmer fan made mock Funko's), but tight funds, fear of online purchasing, and the competitive first come first serve nature of purchasing many of these Fan made pieces deter me from ever trying to get my hands on one. Are there downsides to famade merch? Do you own any fanmade stuff? (Feel free to post pics, if so) Do you try to make your own? 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Denim&Venöm 18,916 November 3, 2016 Share November 3, 2016 (edited) Price is probably the biggest downside. Inconsistency in product quality too if they make multiples. And yes I own quite a bit. A Derpy plush. A chryssi plush. Aloe & Lotus plushies. Daisy & Lilly plushies. A Firefly plush. A Cherry Berry plush. 11 mascot plushies & two non-MLP pony plushies, soon to be 5. and no. I'll probably stab myself with the sowing machine. Not the needle. The sowing machine. That's how good I am at arts & crafts. Brony Number 42 10,069 November 3, 2016 Share November 3, 2016 (edited) The fan made stuff was better in that there is neat stuff that Hasbro will never make. I have cards, posters, pins, stuff like that. I don't have any fan plushies. The Twilight Sparkle Secret Ship Fic game is way better than the official card game. While we are talking merch, I am put off by stuff that is just an item with a pony slapped on it. I know it is cynical. For example, those big, wooden swords with mlp art on them. The art is nice, but I don't want a big sword taking up space. Edited November 3, 2016 by BronyNumber42 This is my new signature.

Guest November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 I wish I did... The money is just a bit of a problem... I was thinking about the same. If I had the money, I would probably have at least one fanmade plush. Or a custom figure. ...Now that I mentioned a custom figure I also remembered that my friend was once making a custom of my OC but I have no idea what is currently going on with the project because I haven't heard anything about it for a long time. ChB 18,550 November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 (edited) Only a Brony T-shirt. The fan-made plushies are WAAAAAY too expensive for me, so I just purchased a few 4DE's. Edited November 5, 2016 by ChB Thanks to @Sparklefan1234 for this awesome sig!

You should go to a convention if you want to score a good deal, they slash prices on the last day typically. 1 https://www.fimfiction.net/bookshelf/709463/read-stories That's 5% of the last 4.5 years. Ra1nbowCrasH 272 November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 conventions are pricier than the merchandise! Plus, too many people. Nah thanks I would go to conventions even if there was no merch, so I guess I don't consider that part of the price. But if you aren't going anyways, I can see how that would be more expensive. https://www.fimfiction.net/bookshelf/709463/read-stories That's 5% of the last 4.5 years. Send help. Earthenhoof 47 November 10, 2016 Share November 10, 2016 (edited) I'm pretty much turned off to official hasbro merch compared to several years back, they just keep using stock vectors, not to mention the designs are usually a bit too flowery and intended-for-children for my taste. Third party merch is still alright though. I sold a good amount of my old merch, gave away some, just hanging onto a few gems. When I buy custom-made merch, I tend to go big. Guest November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 Seems like I do now, as my friend gave me the custom figure I talked about a couple of weeks ago. The coat color of the character is so dark that it was a bit difficult to get a proper photo, but I think I managed to do that somehow. I really like the figure! The mane and tail especially, she did a good job sculpting them. Especially since this was her first time making a custom. She definitely earned her place on the top shelf. Concerned Bystander 2,902 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 I have quite a few t-shirts with fan art on them, as well as a duvet cover, a couple of pillow cases and a pair of cuff links.

Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,463 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 Sadly no. Main reason is the price of these types of products. Anything I would want is just faaaaaaaar too out of my preferred price range. Maybe one day though. Perhaps a custom Kyoshi plushie. XD
chaosprincess 1,067 November 17, 2016 Share November 17, 2016 No due to I can never really afford it due to the seller for some reason believes they can sell it for an outrageous price and think people will pay for it which its not worth it in my opinion I would rather by actual products made by Hasbro at least their reasonable priced.
