Hi again guys. Today I'm opening this topic to see your point of view. As you remember I made a big deal about how the S6 finale killed my hype for the show despite loving the S6 very much until that point, how that made me deciding of quitting with the next year's Movie, and all that stuff. However, indipendentely of what are my concerns for the future of the show, I personally believe the Movie should wrap up the show. Not only because the two episodes I didn't like from the s6 (The Cart Before the Ponies and To Where and Back again) have shown the first signs of the show officially starting to run its course, but also because I feel that the stories this show could tell are running out: (almost) every main and more recurring character got his/her signature episode, most of the places on Equestria's map have been seen at least once, and all the arcs started since S1 have been concluded. The Movie will show locations OUTSIDE Equestria, so that's another thing covered.  Honestly at this point the only thing this show needs it's a Celestia episode, I don't know what else they could tell at this point.

While I've zero worries about the Movie itself as saying that it's in good hands is using an euphemism, I've several concerns about the S7 instead and how the characters will be handeld in it by the time the Movie it's released, and I've already pointed that indipendentely by what will be the fate for MLP, I'm gonna take the Movie as the series finale in any case, but this is just me. What about you? Do you think the Movie should wrap up the series once for all? Or you still think the show still might tell something else? To you the word....

No, certainly not. :P

The movie, I think, will be the midpoint and highpoint of the show.

Just because one season was of lesser quality doesn't imply that Seasons 7-10 will also be bad. Plus, after the movie is over, Meghan McCarthy will be back on the show. She has been away for all of Season 6 while working on the movie.

Plus, there is so much potential with worldbuilding, new villains, adventure, magic, etc., in Equestria. It would be a true shame to stop the train while it is still rolling. MLP has only recently gotten good after the premiere of Season 4. I've been following the show since its inception (for me, around S1 E3).

I am quite excited for what the show has in store for us. :)

While I do think that FiM will end with the movie ( :( ) I don't think it exactly needs to. It depends on what else the writers can bring to the table. Can they keep the show fresh? Can they keep new ideas flowing in? Can they create new adventures for our beloved characters? It all depends on if they still have good ideas left in the vault. A show going on for far too long can impact its quality.

Hmm, well, I certainly don't share your dislike of To Where and Back Again, however,

Honestly at this point the only thing this show needs it's a Celestia episode

I couldn't agree more with this...

I've several concerns about the S7 instead and how the characters will be handeld in it

or this!

And I also agree that the movie should mark the end.  I've always felt this way.  Don't want this thing going all Simpsons.

Here is a radical idea... if you don't want to watch the show... don't.

This whole "I don't like it anymore so it needs to go away" is what needs to go away. MLP IS NOT JUST YOU. If you have lost interest in the show or think it is going downhill or your feelings have been hurt because the writers screwed over your favorite characters or whatever reason you have, then just stop watching it... it is not that big of a deal. As long as I am enjoying it, I will continue to watch it, the moment it changes in a way I do not like or it starts to bore me, I will stop, just as I have with shows before. The fact is, if they decide to carry on for 75 seasons that means someone is watching it and enjoying it, and I don't feel people who don't like it have the right to tell people who do what they can and cannot enjoy... so it should be gotten rid of.

So no, I think the show needs to go on as long as people enjoy it and Hasbro is willing to greenlight it. If it turns into Simpsons 2.0... so what? Don't watch the stuff you don't like and stick with what you do. Let the people who do enjoy it continue to enjoy it while you go enjoy other things.

As long as Season 7 has just the episodes I need (1 Pinkie/CMC at least), by then I'll be okay without any more seasons.

Of course, this show and Transformers: Rescue Bots are the only two animated series from Hasbro currently in development, but I think Transformers is having more trouble than MLP at this time.

I don't think so, from what we saw in the finale, we see that the show maybe going in a different direction than what we saw in the first 5 seasons, in those seasons, you only had to defeat the villain with the Mane 6 with a Rainbow and that's your finale. Now we can see that with Starlight, we can see how friendship work in a different way rather than going back to what it was in the old way. I feel that if the show focuses on Starlight, the show may go for a bit more.

You're missing the point of the topic. I've opened it to see what are the points of view of other users on this, not to rant more about my disappointment on the finale.

Oh really?

So you did not name the thread "Should FiM end with the Movie?" And then spend half your post talking about your concerns that the show is going to go downhill ruining it for you?

And then my reply with why I think the show should continue despite others not liking it with my reasoning why... exactly what point did I miss? I was not aware the only POV allowed was "Show sucks, end it now"

It's simple, you don't trust the direction you feel the show is headed. And that is fine... you have every right to quit and pursue something else you think you would enjoy more. That still does not mean that the show should end, since there are plenty of fans who are still happy with the show and may even like the direction it is going. I personally feel S6 was not up to par with previous seasons, but was not as bad as so many make it out to be... and have hopes that S7 with give people a lot of what they have been asking for.

But let's flip it around. If S7 hits and completely blows you away and is the best season EVER yet.... do you still think it should go away with the film? Even if S8 has the promise of carrying on even bigger and better things?

Ah.... actually, even in the eventuality the S7 proves me wrong... yes, yes I'm still gonna quit after the Movie, but not for the reasons you think. While I've concerns about the future of the show after the Movie, I've other reasons to quit MLP after it, but those are more personal ones, maybe I'll explain it in private to you.

It doesn't matter whether they decide to wrap it up one way or another. As long as there's substance.

I've experienced some of the symptoms you have mentioned, though. So, given the chance the show grows stale, I'll stop watching.

I won't be interested enough to care about it anymore.

All it proves is that Chrysalis is vulnerable to her own food source.

I have to agree with what you said right here, I'm tired of the people who leave the show because it's not what it's used to be, well times change after a while and if the show does not adapt to these times then the show will just tire out and they would lose even more fans if they don't make the changes, just because it worked in Season 1 doesn't mean it would work now.

The Mane 6 can still develop.

The Mane 5 are okay, it's Twilight I'm concerned about, I fear that she is becoming a mary sue in the show and not being her old self like in the first 3 seasons and since she's the protagonist in the film and series and that everyone looks up to, I feel that this will be a disaster unless something miraculous happens.

I find your lack of faith in the writers disturbing.

Should it? Not really, as long as the show is still good, and currently it's still good. Would it be good? Perhaps, it'd be nice to end the show on that kind of high note, but you know, more ponies would also be nice. Will it? I really doubt it, unless they decide to go for a spin-off or a generation 4.5, but I doubt it'll end any time soon. It's even possible they'll also decide to make a second movie if the first one meets/exceeds their expectations.
