White nationalist “alt-right” leader Richard Spencer still thinks his movement is ascendent despite getting far fewer attendees at his recent Washington, D.C. conference than a July conference where men dressed up like ponies.

I noticed that as well. These people are getting the lime light because the mainstream media wants you to be extremely afraid of Trump and of conservative voters. It's as though there weren't legitimate reasons to take issue with him that they could be covering instead. These media companies are profiting off of our division and disharmony, and should be stopped.

Are you really afraid of Nazis? Do you want to know what it's like to have a real fascist uprising happening around you? Check out In the Garden of Beasts. I'm reading it now. It's a non-fiction account of the American ambassador and his family living in Germany as it descends into chaos prior to WW2. By the start of the book, 1933, Hitler is named Chancellor and doesn't even have real power yet, and there's already mass violence, secret torture bunkers, and attacks on Jews, minorities, and foreigners (including Americans).

It's also important to consider the environment in which this happens. Germany had suffered a great defeat in WW1, and was broken by post-war reparation requirements to the victors. Their economy was bleeding profusely, printing money just to keep up with their debt obligations, during the Great Depression, and unsurprisingly suffering from hyper inflation and mass poverty.

We are no where near that, and for all his many faults, it's disingenuous to suggest that Trump has anything to do with that stuff. Even Bannon doesn't come close. (I'll stand corrected if anyone can find footage of him at these sorts of events, giving the Nazi salute, and so on.)

It's time we stop giving these nut jobs undue attention. They're a side show distraction to the real issues, inconsequential ghosts of a wolf long dead.
