What if ponies can talk, but chooses not to?

Maybe its a secret. Imagine if a pony talked to you, but it would tell you that if you ever tell anyone then you will be cursed. So its a deep hidden secret that you can't tell anyone about if you are ever so lucky to meet a pony who so happen to talk with you for some reason.
