GrimGrimoire 4,973 February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 Define rock music. Because there are several songs in MLP many would argue are rock music by today's standards. ~No profound statement needed~

cmarston1 5,959 February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 (edited) I dunno the movie seems pretty appropriately titled to me. I mean there were rainbows in it, and it being awesome does mean that it rocked after all. Edited February 20, 2017 by cmarston1
trademark2 485 February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 rainbow rocks had a lot of great songs. Every song I have heard I have loved. I haven't actually seen the movie, just heard the songs Feel free to message or add me everypony!
GrimGrimoire 4,973 February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 they seemed more pop than rock. seems to me the closest thing to Rock was Dash's guitar solo Perhaps. But it is all open to interpretation. What I consider rock music, may be different than what you consider it... and everyone in this thread may have their own individual ideas of what is and is not "rock" music. I hang out (or used to) in a pretty big music forum, and this very topic came up it seemed like once a week and always went into the whole back and forth about what is and isn't rock, metal, pop, hip hop or whatever. Also, as was mentioned above it can mean something besides the literal style of music. They could be singing Opera and have people say "this rocks!" So maybe they called it 'Rainbow Rocks' because 'Colors Awesome' sounds insipidly lame. 3 ~No profound statement needed~
Tropico 226 February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 it has more rock elements and the most pop-rock soundrack of all the movies so imo its true to its name but as @@GrimGrimoire said, yeah its upon everyone's interpretation xD

Ganondorf8 11,311 February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 The movie had more songs than any other Equestria Girls movie--twelve as opposed to the usual six though the three shorts that were released months after Rainbow Rocks do count bringing the total up to fifteen--and while not all of them were rock, a few of them did fit that description. If anything, I just see the name of the movie as exactly that, a name that the writers wanted to use to convey the sense that the movie focused heavily on songs.
