lack of S7 toys at toyfaire and whats to come

Is it just me or does it seem strange that there didn't appear to be any toys shown at toyfair dedicated to S7? Like, there didn't appear to be a toyline with a theme tying into the season like with explore equestria or Rainbow power or cutie mark magic-- not even any Guardians of harmony toys for S7 shown at the toyfair.

 

I understand that they wanted to showcase the movie primarily, but ruminating on it, I'm left to wonder if there even IS a toyline for this season? Or if this is going to be a "filler" season just there to fill space until the movie hits, without any changes to the world or status quo?

Sadly this season may end up being terrible. I mean, I'm hoping its pretty good but really with almost all the writers gone we are left with mostly new writers. They may just tell the new writers not to make any drastic changes to the show since there new. May end up being filler.

 

Most of the experienced writers are off working on the movie :/ and the ones that gained experience are either not returning or are at the movie.

I don't know really, I never been to a toyfair before, or any convention since the closest ones that would ever happen, do so more than 500 miles away from me. I have bad feelings about this season. Last season had some good episodes, but I for the life of me, cannot remember a single episode off memory. Nothing good happened other than trixie and starlight.

tbf, Season six hardly had a toy theme, you could argue it was "Explore Equestria", but it was really merely coincidental, there wasn't really real exploring apart from 2 or 3 episodes, most of the time we just kept going to freaking Manehattan or Canterlot over and over again, or stayed in Ponyville.

 

I don't expect there to be any toy theme for S7, and I'm ok with that, the movie and Guardians of Harmony work just fine

Maybe it's because they have hardly any time with the new mainstream toy designs .

One of two possibilities that I can think of.  Either there's something huge that they're keeping under wraps (like a new member of the mane group or something equally huge).  Or else, there isn't really much that is planned to happen in the season and all the major things are being saved for the movie.

 

But bear in mind that just because we don't have much in terms of toys doesn't mean there won't be plot developments.  We've already more/less been promised at least one major development for a member of the mane six.  And I'm sure it won't be the only one.

Eh, I wouldn't really count "find out about their parents" a big development

I mean, fluttershy's parents and brother were barely a footnote. (I assume the AJ and RD parents episodes are what you're talking about)

Maybe Season 7 is still a mystery, other than a few details about it, no one other than the show knows about it, everything else was pretty much released as it was stuff that we already knew about.

S05-S07 are bonafide filler. Mane 6 can't progress till the Movie is done and you can't really have some spectacular story cause that would be a wasted marketing opportunity. I mean, what kind of an idiot wouldn't wait to use their best stuff in S08 after the Movie when public interest would spike. The new writers are just kugelfutter. It's like those reality shows where they are searching for best X but most participants are shit.

 

Let's see what my Herd Intelligence came up with:

-Erased history from books.

-He is only doing this because he needs to (kek).

-A villain that needs to remain forgotten.

-Shadow Lock won't be in FIM due to his development in IDW.

 

Guess we're getting another good-in-theory-badly-executed genuinely evil non-pone villain. Best wild guess about its origins: Dreamscape.

 

If I'm at least partially right my E-peen will grow by three sizes. Then again, I'm operating on the premise that they are not stupid enough to introduce another just-needs-friendship cardboard cadaver with a horn. GL with that, eh
