ManaMinori 4,145 May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 I have a sinking feeling that the time has long since passed where we'll get any proper explanation of the Alicorn tribe mentioned in the JOtTS, or the ToH's role in the show (where it came from, who gave it its sentience to bear markings of the destinies of ponies and stand through and guide ponies to altered timelines), etc. Think we'll ever get such things explained, or not? What would be the best avenue to do so, if we did? Chapter books, movies, season premieres/ finales? Oleks 1,993 May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 There are so many things unlikely to ever be explained in FiM that it’s easier to guess which things actually will be clarified. Among the things I don’t expect to be explained are the exact meaning of the term “Equestria”, the origin of alicorns, the “human” things in pony world, the past of Cranky and Steven Magnet, Pinkie Pie’s powers, and most importantly – the force behind all the friendship magic. I hope I’m wrong at least in some aspects, and we’ll get an explanation for something from my list. As for the stuff from comics and books, I think it might be explained only in other comics/books for the most part.
Ganondorf8 11,369 May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 The show staff are probably aware that certain things don't have much in the way of explanation, like the examples provided so far, but then given the age demographic of the show, they feel that such explanations aren't necessary as the intended audience may not understand why. To be honest, I want those explanations revealed at some point as some could do with answers more so than others.

Jeric 46,860 May 18, 2017 Share May 18, 2017 I actually don't want all things explained on the show. Many IP's fall into a trap of trying to explain things that should be left for the audience to ponder. A perfect example would be how George Lucas introduced midiclorians into Star Wars lore to explain that Anakin was strong in the Force. Not a popular move, and one that the current stewardship of Star Wars is wisely ignoring. We don't need to demystify every mystery in FiM. Having gaps in our knowledge invites the fan to become part of the creative process through imaginative collaboration -- the fundamental aspect of interpretation. That isn't to say I want all unknowns to remain that way, but what we don't know can be more tantalizing than what we do know.
Unlikeable Pony 2,698 May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 We'll most likely never get the EOH or Tree of harmony explained. What happened to starswirl the bearded. Alicorn lore. Alicorn amulet information. explanation for things like the inspiration manifestation book or other magical objects.

Valeska 184 May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 I feel as though there would be less things left unexplained if Hasbro hadn't just thrown up a ton of history or side stories that may or may not have a connection in the actual series. Some unexplained topics have been answered by the series writers, the comics, and other small sources. However, this keeps a lot of the fandom in the dark about the explanations of said topics. pnylvr 185 May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 I've always wanted to know what the stars that aided in NMM's escape actually are/were, but I don't think that'll ever be explained.

She might be. Faust says otherwise, other crew don't say anything. 2. Probably 3. It grew from Discord's magical seeds. 4. Who cares. 5. Birth 6. She took the egg from a dragon's nest, or it was abandoned. 7. That is one that is up for debate. Would make an interesting prequel.
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,730 May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 I have this sneaking feeling that we might not ever get a proper explanation to Starlight's overpowered nonsense. I assume there has to be some reason to why she is so stupidly overpowered and an explanation within the show itself would be a bit nice. Wouldn't make me hate it much less but it would be something. I also feel like Flurry Heart be an Aliborn might be simply be ignored as a subject. I mean, so far that has been pretty much forgotten about in terms of why it is the case. It bothers me.
