The 2010s are more than halfway over. So, how would you rate the decade in terms of animation so far?

I personally think it's been a very good decade for animation. There are a multitude of good cartoons like Regular Show, Adventure Time, My Little Pony, Steven Universe, Gumball, Loud House, Bojack Horseman, and Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

Really great as a lot of my favorite cartoons such as Korra, Voltron Legendary Defender, Thundercats 2011, Transformers Prime, MLP FIM, Bojack Horseman, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe and Sym Bionic Titan come from this decade.

Really good. It has several of my favorite shows as of now, including: Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, MLP: FiM, Rick and Morty, Star VS the Forces of Evil, and Adventure Time. I would rank it up there with the 90s to be honest. Being able to compare cartoons to the like of the Simpsons, Rugrats, and Ren and Stimpy says a lot about how good they are.

Gravity Falls, Regular Show, Adventure Time and Ben 10. Ahh, childhood-teenager memories. I to be honest miss the first MLP when they were just new to this friendship stuff. Now it feels like while we grow up mane 6 grow up too and it feels like the show will end soon although I never want to see that moment.

Unfortunately, most animation from this decade has not interested me. I have noticed that most cartoons today (at least American productions) have a similar art style. That angular style doesn't look particularly good to me. I may be shallow, but for me, the art style of a cartoon is a large part of its appeal. There are some exceptions, such as South Park, where I think the crude animation style fits. But in most cases, I have to find the character designs appealing in order to enjoy a cartoon and that's where many cartoons fail for me. MLP is the only recent cartoon I have seen where I love the art style, though it took me a while to get used to the colored outlines, now I can't imagine it any other way. I know I may be missing out on many great series due to my requirements but I can't help it.

I can't stand Adventure Time and I am not particularly a fan of Regular Show or Rick and Morty. I rarely watch Teen Titans Go! Only for nostalgia's sake. But other than those, I enjoy a bunch of Western cartoons from the past 7 years.

Here are my top 5:

1. MLP: FiM

2. The Legend of Korra

3. Voltron Legendary Defender

4. Steven Universe

5. Star Vs. The Forces of Evil

And for honorable mentions, I think We Bare Bears, Sonic Boom, The Loud House, and Gravity Falls are alright too.

So far? Significantly better than the 2000's, which started strong, with that stuff like Danny Phantom, MLAATR, Zim, Avatar, Megas XLR, Kim Possible, etc, then the second half went down the crapper

The 2000s as a whole have been really bland and taken a serious nosedive in quality, in terms of animation, story and pushing low-brow, gross out humor. There have been a few stand outs if we don't count anime, but bleh to most of it.

4/10
