S07:E19 - It Isn't the Mane Thing About You

I love this episode. There are many episode where Rarity shines, but I really love the moment when she accepts it and turn the situation on it's head. Turning something bad into something good is really fabulous. Besides I love Punk Rarity

Also memorable is a shown case of the physics of Pinkie Pie's body. Spiral neck and always love to see Zecora.

This was a pretty good Rarity episode. The visual gags were great and I really liked the ending. Was nice to see Zecora too, since I feel like she's one of the more underrated characters. 

Also, let's be honest, the punk hairstyle is a great look for Rarity.

I liked this episode.

This was a mellow, chill, cheerful slice-of-life episode, in the manner of seasons 4, 5, and 6, but with the transitional features we see in Season 7.  

Feels like it had been a long time where the focus was on Ponyville, with Ponyville ponies being given anything to do. 

You walk away from an episode like this on feeling happier and somehow refreshed. 

I like the fantasy and world building, and the epic arcs we see in FIM, I'm not a hater of those.

But this show was also brilliant of taking day to day mishaps and turning them into instructive adventures. 

The jump cut to months later was kind of an interesting decision as far as pacing is concerned, we don't usually see a temporal jump on the order of months in a single episode.

On this occasion, we did.

Rarity mixes up condition with hair remover and dissolves most of her mane. This is a real problem, since she has an upcoming photoshoot. She tries to hide the problem. Her friends have both magical powers and considerable crafting skills, yet none of them can make her a wig (they have literally made wigs in other episodes). She then decides to "shine from the inside out" and adopts a punk look which suggests that she did it on purpose. Behind her back, her friends hire Photo Finish to do a creepy photoshoot while she's just walking around town, and this is then featured in a magazine without Rarity's permission or even knowledge.

I didn't care for this one. We've got some dubious messages here. Rarity, the epitome of feminine elegance, adopted a look very much against her personality and managed to carry it off. That doesn't mean she wants to be seen all over Equestria in that state. Also, big no to the creepshoot.

Oh well. There've been several great ones recently, and I can't love 'em all.
