gaming Another video game banned!

Oh dear... They've done it again!

Joining the My Little Pony movie in South Korea's forbidden list is the video game "Danganronpa 3: Killing Harmony".

For a different reason compared to the former, this game is banned for containing kids killing other children.

Here's the sources:

I so can't believe it -- one nation killing off a movie and a video game released in the US and Europe just 2 weeks apart from each other -- Those guys sure are getting nothing this fall!

why did south korea ban the my little pony movie?

To my knowledge, they didn't. He keeps saying they did without posting an actual source to back it up (IMDb doesn't count since anyone could've put it on there).

He'll probably post one. But i will find their bans inconsistant

I mean, they choose the ban the game for the murder of children, but they dont ban the hunger games (Movie where 24 children get locked into an all out battle royale to the death and the last person standing wins a $20 crock pot)

Yeah, all the non-IMDb sources I can find say that the MLP movie was NOT banned in SK and that it's a hoax.

As for the actual thing this thread is about, I mean, I can get that.  After all, the children in Bethesda games are invincible for that specific reason (not necessarily so that it doesn't get banned in SK, but so that it doesn't get banned EVERYWHERE).  As for @Ninetales said, the best guess I have comes from a Kotaku article which mentions that there was a murder case back in March, where a 17 year old girl killed and dismembered an 8 year old girl in Korea.  There was an investigative news program that covered the case and used a Danganronpa parody to describe how the killer discussed various morbid acts on Twitter.  However, when asked about this, the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee denied the allegations.  Though they did mention that there was concern about copy cat crime, the main reason the game was denied was because of its content.

I don't have to, actually. Seen here:

is a LONG list of countries where the movie was released. But SK isn't anywhere on this list! Maybe the movie isn't clearly banned now (although I still think it is), but it most certainly will be pronounced banned once the foreign totals all come to a halt.

You might want to amend you improperly sourced article you threw up on the MLP Wikia about it so that people know that you think it may have been banned.

I'm amused that this discussion was about Danganronpa being banned and the Pony speculation being stated factually ended up actually marginalizing your whole point, and probably jeopardizing whether people will actually believe it's bunk from go.

Anyway, I have to credit @Hazard Time. I wasn't aware of any of those details, and it definitely sets up an interesting discussion regarding when, if ever, game censorship is appropriate. More to that, if game censorship isn't palatable to western gamers, should we be applying our own views to suggest another county's decisions are inappropriate? Then you have the office statement by their board, and one has to consider how to weigh any trust you have with it. There's a lot to unpack in what was said here so I may consider it longer before I opine.
