web Youtube bronies, help me!

Okay, there has to be some ponies that do youtube videos here. Specifically speededits/speedpaints. Help a pegasus out here, what free screen recording program do you suggest? The one I have is nice, but it turns the video sideways and has a mirror sort of effect

I have OBS installed on my laptop, it works great and you can even stream live to YouTube if you turn on an option in the menu.

I've tried OBS actually. I'm not sure if it's just my computer, but it never wants to open or be helpful at all

Don't look at me.  I use Nero Vision 10 and that's a retail program.

 

Edit: Have you heard of Kdenlive?  I heard it was an Open Source Video Editor.  Might wanna give that a try.

Hmm.. that's interesting. Personally I didn't have any troubles. Perhaps there's something wrong in the settings?

If you'd happen to have Windows 10, you could try to use its recorder by pressing WIN+G while in application/game. I just tested that, it works.
 

Other than that, I haven't used the others. I think I've bumped into Fraps once years, years ago, but I recall not liking it.

I do have Windos 10, but my computer is really more of a tablet with a keyboard that is atatchable. Some keys are not really on my keyboard

Try using the virtual keyboard then.

It works pretty weirdly, but works...

 Search for virtual keyboard or whatever it will be named in English interface (I have Polish).  
 When the keyboard will be brought up- click on the window (outside that keyboard) you want to type in - in your case, most likely an image-editing software of some sort.
 Click WIN then G key on the virtual keyboard for the shortcut
 A game bar will pop out - make it think, that it's a game you want to record by clicking 'Yes, it is a game' or something along these lines.
 Click record button, then close the virtual keyboard
 Now your window is being recorded; do your thing
 When you'll be done, you'll find the video in the user video folder.

It does its job, but is pretty limited and isn't really nice to work with - well, it was designed for games after all - games have only one widow, so there wouldn't be a problem. Image-editing software on the other hand, tends to have multiple windows opened at once (color palette, various tool options, other message windows etc.), which gives pretty weird results.

Sadly, there's no way to record just a part of, or the whole screen regardless of what windows will pop out in the way - it only records windows you ask it to record.

That helped! Except it keeps disapearing before I can click things, but I understand now. Thank you!
