RD. I really hate her mane.

Uh, what about this?

What about it? After is appears, you can shave it off and it’ll grow back. The entire point is that these creatures naturally grow pictures in their fur, so why are we concerned about them growing natural rainbow hair?

Cutie marks are usually not seven different colors like a rainbow mane, though.

Also, if cutie marks are part of their fur, then how does so much fur grow in a place that already has fur, but is still able to keep a solid image without any of their main fur color mixed in?

I’d say they’re “worse”. Rainbow’s hair is just stripes. Cutie marks are perfectly neat images, regardless of how many colors.

It doesn’t add fur. The original fur changes to the cutiemark.

My entire point is that if something as improbable as cutiemarks is openly accepted, we shouldn’t worry about RD’s hair.

Unless, of course, the cutie mark also happens to be a representation of a rainbow. And, considering the sheer amount of weather ponies...

 Sigh.

 Lol.

Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread  and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread!  Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew!

@Widdershins YES ! Omg yes finally I can relate to somepony ! I've always thought that her mane was trash, a rainbow really ? Okay we get it, her name is Rainbow and she can do sonic rainboom but was her mane supposed to be a rainbow ? Her tail is okay but I don't like the way that the colours are separated and there is just too many colours ^^

Aye! That be the issue! Now I do love Rainbow Dash as the "Sporty One" but it's that she's *Too Detailed!*

As I might have previously stated, A cutie mark can certainly come off as more detailed, being a symbol and I assume, more of a tatoo that can grow back. (Think the show's cannon has been uneven on that fact.) A pony's (and I state that as a living being on this dimension, rather than a real life horse) tail can come across as longer and more coarse to be able to hold stripes a bit better...
But a mane can probably be at max, three colors.

And i'm looking at Twilight Sparkle here for example. My suspension of disbelief can hold that your hair just naturally grows in a highlight like that. Kind of hip & punk for Twi that doesn't entirely go with her character, but its downplayed and easily missed. A Rainbow is eye-catching though. I do love rainbows, but aside from a pattern for a flag or banner it immediately becomes the dominant section of any picture or design.

Especially since, realistically, her hair would blend together and give us a multicolored mess. Considering her character, she probably would keep it short enough to exercise and not make her sweaty any. So unless it was a Mohawk or Crewcut then I don't see how a 5-Color Mane could work.

Though I am loving the mental image of Spiky-Haired Dashie, hehe

Discussing the usefulness of rainbow hair as camouflage is kind of silly considering the ponies live in a similar state of civilization as humans where they don't really need to worry about predators on a day to day basis.

Design wise, I think it's fine. It works well enough in the show's style, but I probably would've preferred if the colors were split between the mane and tail.

Either way, it's a really simple thing to suspend belief on.
