It was bought from Asda but it's pretty darn close to how my mother used to make it. Their mince pies are excellent too!

I plan my xmas dinner for weeks before hand 

• deviled eggs
• celery filled with cream cheese
• my own take on green bean casserole
• baked chicken with homemade gravy
• mashed tatters
• smoked cheddar cut up into cubs

I had plan on also corn bread muffins but ill wait to news years!

Since I was a kid the Boxing Day lunch was practically as important as the Christmas Day meal, and was always centred on Bubble & Squeak. Bubble & Squeak is potatoes mashed with a green vegetable, usually the sprouts left over from Christmas Day (but could be cabbage, spinach...) – and then fried in a skillet. The name comes from the noise it's supposed to make when frying.   Today I fried mine in pork sausage fat, not as healthy as olive oil but you must have the right colour! (Brown) As traditionally, eaten with cold turkey & stuffing, sausage meat or sausage (& possibly cold ham, but not implemented here), & pickles. Here, pickled onions & beetroot, Branston & Piccalilli sauces, ketchup.

I had chicken schnitzel with diane sauce, chips and salad with crème brûlée.

Vegetable stew, mostly sliced carrots, half an onion, some thickly diced potato, chopped sausage, a vegetable stock pot, couple of crushed crackers because I have no bread – sorry didn't stop for pix, too hungry!

Leftovers – boiled potato & carrots, stuffing. Not leftovers – brocolli, pork sausages, baked parsnips, gravy... the result is like a Sunday lunch (but it's not Sunday)...
