Nintendo's next console.

Nintendo is currently sitting pretty with the success of the Switch, but where do they go after the Switch? Do they make a traditional console again, or do they keep making a console-handheld hybrid? I'm not sure a second hybrid would be as successful as the Switch, and I don't know if they can succeed with a traditional console. I'm worried they'll be in another Wii U situation.

I think they will make a download only machine. I would buy it but not the games. I would just have it to collect. I am philosophically opposed to download only games.

I really don't know. Console gaming isn't as popular as it used to be, but handheld/mobile gaming has soared in popularity in Japan, making it very likely the successor to the Switch will continue with the handheld trend. Some professionals in the industry talk about the end of home consoles, but I wouldn't bet money on anything. Just when I thought Sony was never going to make a PS5, lo and behold, they announced they were working on a PS5. This is why I like to keep my speculations humble and never say never.

Hard to say what they will do next seeing as they like to beat to their own drum so to speak. Though if I were to take a guess, they will pay some attention to what Sony and Microsoft will end up doing within the next year or two.

Nintendo probably won’t do anymore consoles unless it’s someone that you can just download games onto. PlayStation and XBox will always have better specs until Nintendo wises us.

I'd rather Nintendo continue down the Handheld-COnsole hybrid success they had with the Switch.  The successor should also be Backwards Compatible with previous Switch games as well.

I'm not sure what Nintendo will try next. They always seem to try to make their consoles unique in some way. I expect they'll stick with the handheld trend, but I'm really curious as to whether they'll make a successor to the 3DS. It has some good games, but I'm not sure Nintendo would need two different lines of consoles in the future. Smartphones can fill the space the 3DS sits in. On the other hand, the 3DS and especially the 2DS might still be good for parents wanting to give their children a cheaper gaming console. I guess Nintendo will just have to guess what the market wants.
