Rose would have to make her move fast, because Zerra was showing that she still had plenty of energy, and she was ready to end the fight. The cage around Rose glowed brighter and constricted around her, straining against the shadow protecting her. She had a matter of seconds before her protection failed.

Rose stopped thinking and screamed as she ran at Zerra, "I'm not going to die here." As she ran, she noticed that the walls of the barrier surrounding them were speeding towards the middle of the arena.

To the outside it looked like the dome was caving in a little.

Rose shouldn't have been able to run since she was still in the lightning cage. Zerra stepped to the side if she was able to move at all. Still, It's unclear what Rose is planning to do. The lightning cage around her had shrunken so much it almost touched her skin.

Rose felt the electricity getting through the shadow and saw it was moving to slow. She poured all she the magic had left and the shadow into stabbing everywhere, including the area she was in. She collapsed to a laying position. As the dome fell in around them. She hoped that this works, or she will die by both magic and the electricity.

Zerra saw rose collapse and smirked. She stepped forward and poured more energy into the electric cage to make sure she finished Rose off when she suddenly heard movement behind her.

Zerra turned around, using the light from her electrical attack to see the ethereal spikes coming out of the dome surrounding them. She broke her focus on Rose's cage, releasing her so she could create a barrier to defend herself from the protrusions heading toward her, but they broke through the barrier and pierced her torso and shoulder in three places.

Topaz couldn't see what was happening, but she heard shocked screams from both mares as the attack struck them both.

Jade's eyes narrowed and her hooves clenched. She wasn't sure what was happening, but the fact Rose was still standing after all this meant something.

Rose and Zerra were both standing across from one another, both of them bleeding from their new puncture holes. Neither of them had fallen over yet, so Topaz didn't start a ten count.

Zerra had a shocked look on her face, her mouth slightly opened as a trickle of blood spilled out. She took one labored step forward. It looked like she was having difficulty keeping her balance.

"But how?" She asked through labored breaths.

Dynamo had to shield his eyes from the bright light of the electric cage. He couldn't tell what was going on, but the screams didn't seem like a good sign to him. 'Just hang in there Rose. Whatever is happening, just remember to never give up.' He hoped that his teammate was going to be okay. He knew that she was weakened, but he didn't want anything worse to happen to his friend.

As the electric field faded away, Dynamo stared in shock at the two fighters in the ring. Rose and Zerra had looked like they had seen better days. He wanted to say something. Anything, but he didn't know what to make of what had happened. "That's just like me when I used up all of my energy." He noted as he was in the same situation. 'Please, just let Zerra fall. She looks as if she could fall to the ground, so there's no way she can keep fighting.' He thought as he awaited for the results of the match. He clenched his hooves and prayed that Rose would be alright.

She said as she struggled to stand up with her pride, "You were keeping me at bay, when you forgot I had magic left, and I said I wasn't going to die alone, that I'll take you down." Her vision blurred a little, but she shook her head to clear it up.

Zerra gritted her teeth and took two steps forward. Her right wing started to glow with yellow sparks and she swung it at Rose, but before she could complete the swing, she fell at Roses hooves, crashing into her legs with a grunt.

Zerra worked her way up to her knees and stamped her hind hooves on the ground. Both contestants were bleeding from Rose's gutsy move. Topaz paused her ten count.

"Don't lie to me, Rose. You have less energy than I do right now." She huffed.

Rose said as she sat down, "I wasn't bluffing. You will die more by the puncture in your chest. Now, if you lay on your back at my hooves, I'll make it quick, painless, and left with dignity. Or we can talk until you die of blood loss. It's up to you." She shook her wing and the knife fell out at Rose's hooves. She didn't want to show it, but she is on death's door. It took a lot of energy to sit up, she only had enough to move her hoof to plunge the knife

Zerra looked over Roses body. She was in worse shape than she let on. Ross's injuries were even worse than Zerras. If what Rose was saying was true, then Rose was close to death just as well.

Zerra gritted her teeth and folded her wings forward, creating an electrical field between both tips. She angrily screamed and shot a bolt of energy at Rose point blank.

Zerra couldn't sense a drop of energy in Rose's body. If Rose still had power, she would be able to deflect Zerra attack even reverse it back at her, but she shouldn't be able to. Unless Rose had some way to muster up enough power to save her in this desperate situation, the attack would be enough to finish her off.

"Well I better get to the arena then lady dai," Draco stated with a grin on his face. "Now if you'll excuse me," Draco said as he took flight. So he was a fast flyer as he came in flying into the arena looking haggard but even that pushed his limits.

Rose was surprised at Zerra wanting to fight more, she stumbled back and was ready for, but a pole of magic popped up front of the bolt. She stayed down and said as she got over the pillar coming up from the ground , "Do you seriously want to fight, till you bleed out

"You're more injured than I am!" Zerra cried, and it was clearly true to any observer that Rose was even more greatly injured than Zerra. Because of that, Rose shouldn't have had the energy to summon any shadows to defend herself. Zerra took a step to Rose's right side and fired a blast of electric energy point blank.

Rose did what came naturally to her. She painfully lifted up her wing to stopped the bolt. It blackened her wing more, then she rolled over to grabbed her sword and thrusted it towards Zerra. She felt an known magic pour into the blade, where she had none. Her body was hurting from the pain of the fight and her pushing her body over it's current limits, but she needed to finish it quickly.

There was a flash of light as the sparks clashed against her wing. Zerras two outstretched wings acted like a blanket over the two combatants, obscuring what happened. 

The stage was silent for a moment as Topaz stepped around to see what happened. Zerras wings lowered and Rose could be seen again beneath her, her body visibly smoking in the patches of dark fur. 

Roses blade sunk into Zerras gut just bellow her ribs. There were sparks around the hilt showing where it had broken through her electrical barrier.

Zerra looked down at Rose through squinted eyes and gritted teeth. She opened her mouth, but instead of speaking, she simply exhaled a labored gasp and fell to her side next to rose, unconscious. 

Tricis breathed a sigh of relief next to Jade and spoke while Topaz gave the final ten count, "Closer than we'd hoped but making it through this is a good sign. You'll have to find out what happened to draco a frostflame, but I've got a feeling that as of now, you finally have a team."

"Its over, folks! The winner by ten count is Rose! Team Lotus is the first to advance to the semi finals!" Topaz announced.

Rose said as she slipped her blade out of Zerra, "Hey Topaz, when I get better, want to get a drink?" Her vision swam and she fell backwards on the arena. She pushed her entire self to the brink of dying. She closed her eyes and tried to use magic to heal, but sadly didn't work.

Dynamo continued to watch as both Rose and Zerra were on their last legs. Either side looked like they were ready to lose at any second, but neither wanted to give up. His eyes widened as he could see that Rose looked to have been charred from the attacks. He was surprised and thankfful as Zerra finally fell and lose consciousness. The gaming unicorn let out a breath that even he didn't know he was holding. "We did it. We made it to the next round!" He cheered as he threw a fist in the air to celebrate. He suddenly regretted the action as he winced in pain. However, to him, it was worth it. He and the others had made it through. While the matches were indeed close, he was just happy to have his friends with him. "I thought we were going to be in trouble a couple of times, but I guess we should count ourselves lucky. Hopefully, we'll be able to catch a break one of these days." He looked to Tricis and nodded in agreement to her remark.

As he saw Jade fly over to Rose to help her up, Dynamo looked to Topaz and nodded once more. "You can count me in when it comes to finding Draco and Frostflame. It's just like you said. We're all a team and we all need to stick together and work together." He says, slowly getting up from his seat. "By the way, coach. Do you know if there is a legitimate recovery room? I'd hate to be given medical help and then be double crossed." He says, not trusting how their match had gone. Along with having to deal with Patchwork from earlier.

Topaz seemed offput by the question. Whether or not it's what Rose intended, it sounded like she was asking her on a date. Topaz looked blankly at Rose trying to think of a response before the pegasus collapsed.

Dynamo chuckled briefly as he agreed with her remark. He was then momentarily surprised by her next remark. He knew that she could be strict, but she did mean well. Even still, hearing that he and the others earned this almost felt foreign to him. Did it have to do with the spell he used, along with Jade and Rose doing a great job. Perhaps it was how they took a team down with only three members. He could only nod with a grateful smile on his face. "Thanks, coach. That really means a lot." He was caught off guard as he was supported by Tricis' magic. He didn't struggle as he allowed the magic to take hold of him. At the mention of their recovery, Dynamo nodded and sighed in relief. "That's good to hear. I guess there will be a way to get rid of that poison joke that chemist had spoken of. I think I heard of it once, but I never looked into such a poison, to be honest." He says, he ears fell as he felt embarrassed to have been affected by his opponents. "Thanks again, coach. I really appreciate all of the help. When Jade returns from searching for the others, I'll make sure to explain everything about that spell. That is, if any of you have any questions." He noted as he wanted to let his team know what had happened during the fight. He was honest to everyone, so far and he intended to keep it that way. They were his team and his friends and he didn't want to lose them so soon. He would protect what was important to him, no matter who he fought.
