What is the worst damage that has been caused to your home?

i havent had any really major damage to my home , apart from the boiler packing in and causing damage to the walls last year which has been fixed , apart from that nothing major.

Hurricane Frances and Hurricane Jeanne back in 2004.

Lost 3/4 of the shingles on my house, fence fell down, my treehouse was a total loss, and we had a leak in the bathroom which luckily was over the bathtub. Also the screen in the back patio was completely gone.

When I was little, a terrible storm knocked a tree down. A big branch punched through the garage roof like a spear! It went all the way down to the floor. We were very lucky it didn't fall at a different angle and go through my brother's bedroom!

Our water heater had burst, and we didn't realize it until the flooring was removed after suspecting something was happening. Turned out the the floorboards were soaked so bad in the laundry room and the hallway that it had to be knocked out and replaced.

Luckily, I've never had any major damage dealt to my home. The worst I've experienced was back in 2013, when a tap burst and the entire house got flooded. Nobody was home at the time, as I was on holiday with my family.

The worst was when I still lived in the Midwest and a tornado went right across our property. We lost some of the siding on the house and some medium-size trees but the neighbors just next door got far worse, losing 11 huge oaks. There were 5 telephone poles snapped like toothpicks and a corral at the farm across the road was also taken out. happily I don't think any animals were harmed, at least as far as I know. Strangely enough, the cover on my car in the driveway remained affixed through all that craziness.

The worst damamge done to our house has been from hurricanes. Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and then Hurricane Irma in 2017...we lost a few roof shingles and a window shutter in both hurricanes but that's about it. Nothing too serious. Still have yet to fix those missing shingles though.

The roof in my house is currently leaking where we added on to the house back in 2005-ish.

Rain damage and raccoon damage to the roof. Yes you read that right but a night staked out on the front yard with my air rifle and the raccoons weren't a problem any longer.

Sewer backup three years ago that required trenching the entire line out to the street for replacement, pretty sure there were lumpnuggets down there older than the Mona Lisa. Having an all-dirt full basement with that was both a blessing and a curse.

Most recent was some damage from a house that blew up at the other end of the block this past autumn. Ended up with a couple cracked windows and loads of shrapnel in the roof. The dead house was being reno'd and was empty at the time so at least there was that.

Where we're at is a rental, gonna say that's prolly a good thing

Well, luckily I've never lived in a house that was dealt serious damage. The worst though was when a tree fell on our house when I lived in Washington state. The tree didn't hit the house too hard, so it wasn't that bad.

Nothing really when I lived at my parents house.

In my house I bought 2 years ago, the worst damage was caused by the "home improvement impaired" previous owners. Some people should just not be allowed in a hardware store.

Luckily it's just minor stuff.

All the damage done to the places I've lived are always done by my brother. The worst thing he did was break almost all the doors in the house off their hinges.

Once when I fell asleep while the bath was running while the others were out visiting my grandparents. The next thing I know my mother is screaming, and there's water all the way out of the front door. Took several days to dry up entirely.

I got blasted by a tornado during the early March 2017 tornado outbreak. It didn't pass directly overhead thankfully, but the roof... well... it did not fare well. Down to the bare wood.

My little brother locked us out the house and my dad was stuck on the balcony because he locked that too so I had to punch the window and climb in that’s probably the most that ever happened
