Thanks @Starlight Serenade, I really appreciate the advice, which is far more thorough and insightful than my doctor gave me! I looked up cognitive behavior therapy which gave me a lot more to think about than the group chat/AA meeting style that always expected such therapy to be. Typically I’m very analytical and pick things apart to find root causes, effects and remedies, and I’ve done so most of my life with mixed results. I never thought anyone else could do better than me, since I know myself better than anyone else. But after reading up on it, there may be some possibilities and I’m going to talk with the doc about therapy on my next visit.

Meds are probably fine if you get the right ones, but the Zoloft I was prescribed was giving me brain fog and was threatening to kick-start a previous heart condition that I’d finally gotten under control, so different meds and probably a combo with therapy will be my next step.

Thanks again for your help, for me and everypony reading your post. I’m sorry for all you’ve gone through with your own painful experiences, but you’ve used them to make a positive difference for others and that’s a great gift. Many, many thanks indeed.

Thanks also to @TheRockARooster, @Snoopy Fan, @Tropical Melody, @Dawnshine Wonder and all you lovely ponies.

Spoiler

You're welcome@Dreambiscuit

I'm glad to help and provide any insight that I can for others.

CBT has helped me in several ways during the past few months with some previous trauma, it has been pretty effective in several areas. There are other types of therapy as well, but it all usually depends on a case by case basis. I'm also trying another form of therapy...as I had something else horrifying happen a few weeks ago, but that's an extreme and sensitive topic so I won't discuss it further here.

Antidepressants usually have a slew of side effects as they typically conduct neurochemical changes(raising your serotonin levels; serotonin is what regulates your mood, sleep, and several other things physiologically) and doctors usually prescribe it for several months at a time. I was informed by my doctor that it takes months for antidepressants to be fully effective. I tried Zoloft before and it does give brain fog as it's a common side effect, however it shortly counteracted with another prescription I was taking for something else, so I had to stop it. There's also meds such as Prozac, Celexa, Paxil, Wellbutrin, and Valerian that I've tried as well, but again they are all dependent on how they interact with any other meds and especially how your body takes them. For example, Prozac helped me initially however I had huge weight gain as one of it's side effects despite having a healthy diet and doing daily exercise.

This is why it's very important to monitor symptoms and make notes of any changes to your body.

Anyway, I don't wish to take anymore space from the other ponies posting on this thread!

I wish for you and your loved ones good health and if you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Terrible, cannot sleep, up early hours of the morning and sleep deprived, again.

I've been there. Insomnia is a roommate I know only too well.

I'm doing quite alright. I was called a lot of terrible things in PE by the overly competitive boys while playing kickball (which is why I don't like sports) and I almost got hit by a car as soon as I stepped off the bus. Other than that, I had a lovely day. ^^

Once again, awesome to see how supportive people are of each other here. I feel hopeful that there are people who maintain solidarity no matter what life throws at them.

It’s good that we’re all supportive of each other here. I know I’ve already said this, but like the show says, friendship is magic.

Aww, haha, that's kind of you to want to get revenge, but it's alright. It did surprise me, but it's no big deal. ^^

I am feeling rather blessed. In a state of disbelief and gratitude. Very grateful for every little thing in my life that one can easily overlook and take for granted. Even something as simple as having internet and a roof to get cozy under while relaxing at home is such an easily overlooked blessing.

Relieved.

My time is slowly coming to an end and I'm very thankful for all the experiences and people that I have met during this time.

No matter what happens next, I will never ever be the same.

I should be scared, but I can't stop smiling.

This is what it means to be a Champion.

Spoiler

My emotions are warring and I'm so, so, so tired. I'm struggling with being positive and I have been for the past few days. A lot of bad things have been said and done to me this week and a recurring topic is constantly being brought up which only makes another one of my deep-rooted traumas reawaken. U ´꓃ ` U

Please don't read if you don't want to see anything negative right now. 🫰

Trying to calm down, I am feeling emotionally out of balance right now. A cup of tea would help, which I am about to drink soon. When somebody else posted a link regarding controversial MLP episodes I was reminded about something I am not too happy about, brings back some moments of irritation, shall we say.

As a fan of DH character myself, my annoyance stems from two things, how out of context people took this character, and the fact some people are claiming to represent the entirety of people with disabilities, then want to shove their opinions down other peoples throats within that same group. I never found DH upsetting at all, and I know several other people on the spectrum who don't either. I always thought of DH as a cute happy go lucky character who doesn't quite have the coordination skills as everypony else does, but she is still loveable regardless.
