What do you think is the darkest villain in the show?

Sombra according to me is the darkest villain who doesn't deserve to live in equestria 
He had exploited equestria so much that that guy doesn't deserve any punishment only banishment to some place from where he cannot trouble them again

Definitely King Sombra, he wants the ponies to suffer and enslave them. He is the most darkest villain in the show.

Hmm... there are a few ways to approach this question.

"Darkest" makes me think, "How less than G-rated was it?"

Maybe the darkest individual instance I can think of is when Chrysalis was ready to pluck off Spike's wings.

As for who was the most dangerous? Who did the most destruction? Sombra had the biggest impact I think, even when the Crystal Ponies remembered him, it was just utter fear. Then he enslaved the whole of Ponyville and Canterlot with mind control magic!

Tempest was the most effective, and set herself up as a serious threat and an ever present super menacing force.

And although we didn't see much of the Pony of Shadows, his potential could possibly be stronger than anyone. All the phrases they used, things like shrouding the world in darkness,and the comic, where Shadow Lock learned he was its descendant and was desperate to make sure it wouldn't come back... we may not have seen it DO much, but it seems like what it could have done would be quite massive, whatever it is.

I've seen saturday morning cartoon villains in MLP, I've seen fairy tail archetypal villains in MLP. But a character based on real life cult leaders, fascist leaders, socio-psychopaths? No thanks.

I personally think that King Sombra is the darkest villain because he hid the Crystal Heart, kidnapped Flurry Heart, destroyed the Tree of Harmony, almost defeated Discord, and took control of the Crystal Empire! He ought to be the darkest villain there is.
