planning An ambitious idea to start a moderately large AU

Hello! I had an idea to try and start a larger scale roleplaying server for advanced literate roleplayers in a T1 MLP AU set in the distant future of an alien world. Unfortunately, I seem to lack the skills and/or patience to properly advertise, so I'm taking another approach to this little project of mine: picking up players little by little.

The ultimate goal is to piece together my world from the perspectives of multiple people in small, isolated sections of my world. When everything is to my liking, I'd merge all the seperate roleplays together into a single shard, then see how things go from there.

For now, though, I need feedback. I need to find a working hook and a dedicated playerbase. Don't worry, I have [a] competent mod on my team rn that can handle some of the more technical stuff, although more professional help is not discouraged.

I am somewhat experienced in larger scale RPs and in building large worlds, as such I'm intrigued by your proposal.

What platform are you looking to do this on?

What specifics have you pounded out for the world in terms of location, technology, races, and magic? You say distant future and alien world, so I assume some nation of Equis has achieved interstellar transport by some means. If you're open to some suggestions, here's an idea of how I might approach the plot hook you've given:

A buck wearing a worn bomber jacket and shades despite being indoors shrugged as he got up from the wall he had been leaning on, he snorted non-comittaly, "Sure, why not?" Ma and Pa saw something in this Rotted Commission. Gone and went missing for it. Maybe they were right after all. "Just cut the act and talk straight. If we're going to die out there, we may as well know."
