For me it's the 2009, though purely because of personal reasons.

911, war in Iraq, Indian Ocean tsunami in '04, hurricane Katrina etc... It wasn't perfect, but all in all it was pretty great decade. At least when looking back now in 2020 :P No clue what might have been objectively_the_best_year

I was born in 2002, so I was quite young when this decade ended. But based on what I've read about and remember from the 2000s, I would probably say 2006 was the best year. No major disasters, and everything was going pretty well.

I've got sports memories from this.  Super Bowl XLII, the underdog New York Giants upsetting the undefeated New England Patriots.  New York and Boston getting everything they want at the top in the sports world is :unamused:always a bad thing.  Chicago White Sox defeating the Houston Astros in the 2005 World Series.  Those :eww:2 teams have a very bad past.  2002 Anaheim Angels winning their only World Series title.  2008 Philadelphia Phillies winning the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.  And I'm sure you :secret:remember that Fatboy Slim song when :mlp_xJpg51C:these guys took the football field.  The 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers winning their :twi:last championship in Super Bowl XLIII down to the wire:wau:  The pirate loaded :fabulous:Super Bowl XXXVII, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, coached by Jon Gruden, defeating the :mlp_yeehaa:idiotic Bill Callahan coached Oakland Raiders.  Let's not forget the :sunbutt:awesome Super Bowl XXXV halftime show.  Two awesome Super Bowls in Miami:yay:  2003 Florida Marlins winning the World Series against the New York Yankees:mlp_icwudt:  But the most awesome accomplishment in sports that decade was the underdog Arizona Diamondbacks, armed with Randy Johnson, winning the 2001 World Series against the New York Yankees in a seven game matchup, denying the :-PEvil Empire a 4peat :sneer:down to the wire:sneer:

I picked 2000. I remember how everypony was afraid that computers would die and planes would fall out of the sky during Y2K! I also remember how I advanced the date on my computer, and absolutely nothing happened but the date was a few days off.

Fun times!

I still have a book somewhere, sealed in plastic, never opened. "How to Survive Y2K"!

LOL!

It's difficult to explain, but 2007 seems to light up in my head for when things just seemed brighter in my childhood? I was young enough to have little responsibility but old enough to be somewhat independent. The time I spent reading was at its peak and we had a good winter.
