Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy?

When I first started watching MLP (I started last week, I'm really new to the show and the fandom, but I'm absolutely hooked) I was drawn to Fluttershy. Her extreme shyness and anxiety was something I could relate. Just like Fluttershy, I really dislike being in large groups, being the center of attention, yelling (or raising my voice), looking at people in the eye or standing up for myself. So when I saw her placed into tough situations, I fully understood her reactions, the way she pulled away from everything. But just like Fluttershy, when really pushed I can become a bit unhinged (not angry, I mean really paranoid/anxious like she was during the galloping gala at the end of season 1). By the time I finished season 1 I was absolutely in love with Fluttershy.

 

However, things changed during season 2. I started noticing Pinkie and her unflappable happy nature. Further, her hilarious non-sequiturs, songs and craziness began to remind me of how I was as a kid, before my life went to hell. There was a time when I was constantly happy- working hard to be everyone's friend while constantly shooting random quotes, verses and nonsensical babble. It was a time when life was simple, uncomplicated and "fun." Last night I watched A Friend in Deed and I realized that Pinkie Pie was my favorite pony and someone I would love to have as a friend (well, it would just be nice to have friends ) and role model.

 

So as I stated above, Pinkie Pie is better than Fluttershy in my opinion.

Pinkie Pie is very funny and successful as a comic relief character, but gets annoying at times when we're constantly reminded she's random...it's a similar situation to the CMC.

 

Fluttershy has a similar personality to me (I'm a guy), so this may be biased, but I just find Fluttershy more appealing than Pinkie Pie, no offense to Pinkie Pie fans. But I feel like that Fluttershy is much more realistic and is an example of many people in real life who are the result of bullying from childhood, whereas Pinkie Pie seems to always be happy, which is why she can get annoying at times.

 

I don't know about you, but I never get emotionally involved with Pinkie Pie's situations. Granted I never have extreme emotions (crying, yelling in anger, etc.) towards the show, the show has the ability to get me and the rest of the audience emotionally involved (i.e Twilight loses all her friends and turns grey in S2E2, Fluttershy gets scared she might be bullied for her 0.5 score; Hurricane Fluttershy.) During Baby Cakes I never felt bad for Pinkie Pie, as it seemed like it was all a joke.

 

To summarize, I like Fluttershy more than Pinkie Pie slightly.

Gah! This is hard! While I easily relate a lot to Fluttershy's introvertive behavior and love her adorable look, I absolutely adore Pinkie's antics and rather dangerously unstable mind.

They're both my 2 favorites, Pinkie was my original fav then I eventually realized Fluttershy was my true favorite. I switched Fluttershy to my favorite and Pinkie Pie to my second fav because I find Fluttershy far more relatable, more serious and more interesting. I generally prefer the more serious, introverted types, and Fluttershy is no exception. Pinkie still has a special place in my heart though . I'm surprised that Fluttershy isn't winning this poll since on our other favorite pony polls she's number 1, odd.

I have to say Flutters is the best of these two ponies. Pinkie, ugh, she didn't really strike me as more than a one dimensional character until the Baby Cakes episode. Until then I liked her less than Rarity.
