How do you deal with stuff created by haters and creepers?

 

Until season 5, I only had good moments with mlp and fan-content. Yeah, there always had been wierd, dark, bloody or otherwise bad stuff but I usually was always able to ignore it. During season 5, I saw a pic, can't remember everything but it seemed harmless, and made the mistake to google google the source of it.

I'll spare you the details, but it caused two main things:

 

1. It made me hate Starlight (and Discord) for years and ruined the season 5 finale. Even know, I still hate/despise broken horns and Sombra's slavery plan (I celebrated his and the Storm Kings death)

2. I was very close to leave the fandom because of it

 

Took me years to more or less recover from it, despite a remake of the same stuff, now with zebras being the bad guys (yeah, I hate most zebra ocs since that time, Sorry to all zebra owners) and luckily I never quit the fandom. However, even know that trauma sometimes returns

 

So back to topic; how do you deal with that kind of stuff?

Ignore it and, depending on what sites you’re using, block them. Honestly the best you’re gonna get

I am a hateful creep, but I have not assumed it yet, which is why I react negatively when I see creepy and hateful content. It is a reflection, basically. And the answer is to learn to love yourself to the point where you are at peace with that which the outer world reveals about the inner world. About yourself.
