Are you excited for the next Nintendo console ?

This really takes me back of the days before the Switch and we were all hyped to see what Nintendo would make. I'm so glad it's that time again! I imagine it won't compete in power as much, because I imagine they want to keep the portability. But I sure hope we'll get banging games on release! Really hoping for a new pokemon, since we haven't gotten anything announced yet. I imagine we will get a new Mario, since the last 100% freshly new Mario game was 7 years ago. Here's hoping for a launch Metroid title! Maybe now Nintendo appreciates the sales of a game not beloved by their veteran devs.

Seems like there will be a Direct in June, as confirmed by Nintendo of Japan. I'm very excited to watch it, and can't wait to see what everyone here will think!

Most definitely! I can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store, especially in terms of games. I remember being super impressed by the Nintendo Switch; Before I got one myself I always used to beg my brother to use his. The mainline games for the Switch were all fantastic, I'm excited to see what else Nintendo can come up with for new games! I'm especially looking forward to seeing new games for Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Mario. I'm also hoping for sequels to Tomodachi Life & Miitopia, two of my favorite DS games. Overall, I'm just really excited for this and I look forward to hearing more about the new console. :pinkie:

Switch was one of the best consoles they made so I’d imagine they want to keep the momentum going. Just for the love of god give me a new Star Fox, and I mean a real new Star Fox, no more remakes of 64 for goodness sake;😭

Oh man, Animal Crossing! I forgot about it. I was pretty let down by Horizons after a while so I'm really hoping for a new one with so much more content!!! It's going to be great! I'm very positive for this new console.

There are things I really like about the Switch, but Nintendo showed some of their anti-consumer hand with this newfound success and honestly, I don't think I can bring myself to care about what they do next anymore.

I'm excited for the console and new games, but seriously hoping for better support for their retro titles. I'll never stop pirating with how their retro services are.

I’m not that excited for the new console as much as the Switch’s final games. I have taken the cautious habit to wait at least a year for each new console, instead of a day one purchase I used to do :fluttershy:

I am! Be interesting to see just how much more powerful it is. There's a lot more competition in the handheld market now with stuff like the Steam Deck so I'm expecting it'll probably be around the same level of performance. I'm also really hoping we get more 3rd party ports with the Switch 2, I'd die if we finally get Dark Souls 3 or the Fallout games on there.

Will it take cartridges? Some of the Switch games don't even have the entire game on the cart. I guess that's the way it is now. I mostly buy games to collect, and there is no point in colleting a downloaded game.

I wouldn't call myself, "excited", since I'm no big Nintendo fanatic and I don't find the Switch to be a very good piece of hardware. It's fun to play games on it, but I think it's put on way too high of a pedestal. I'll get the Switch 2 if there's some good stuff on there that interests me and I can get a good deal for it.

That would be awesome!!! It's sad the switch lacks such memorable titles of this past generation, unless they have a low settings :(

I kind of have a hard time getting excited for new consoles... To me, it's just an expensive thing I have to buy if I want new games. I love my Switch but I didn't get it until it had been out for years. And of course they won't fully drop support until it's about time for whatever comes after the Switch 2, so I can't even look forward to being able to hack mine yet. I do hope this causes prices to drop on first-gen Switches so I can hack one of those.

Apropos of nothing, I wish I could afford a Steam Deck! I do really really love portable consoles.

I'm broke, can't be excited for what I can't afford. I'm sure there will be games to buy and subscriptions to purchase, so initial cost of the console itself is not the total cost I would need to pay to have fun. It's ok though, I can find other ways to have fun like sticking to one console. :eager:

I only have a laptop, and it can't run many games. To get a PC fit for gaming would be too much money for me to spend, I can't afford many PCs.

When will it start getting exciting games? That's the question I have. The Switch had quite a few pretty dry years, with lots of focus on ports. Now it has a solid library, but boy was it painful there at times.

Although there's also the fact I won't likely be able to get this console for the foreseeable future with my financial situation changing moving to a much more pricey state. So right now I'm just hoping that games I'm looking forward to don't get put only on it and not the Switch 1 (like the Pokemon Legends Kalos game).

Not really as it's kind of just an expense in upgrading to it although I will inevitably end up doing so because there will be games I want to play on it. I'd rather just stick with the Switch and there be new games be released for that, the Switch's age and graphical capabilities aren't really a problem for me, as long as the gameplay's good it's adequate.

I'm really curious to see what it is. One of my friends on Discord says it'll be a brand-new model, considering the Nintendo Switch has been out since 2017. GameXplain says it'll be the switch 2. if it's a brand-new console, I look forward to it. if it's just an up-graded version of the Nintendo Switch......I hope it's a lot cheaper and it has better battery life than the current model. that's partially the reason WHY I've never bought a Nintendo Switch and I had to settle for the Nintendo Switch Lite. here in Australia, the regular Nintendo switch is $470 and the OLED is $530. yeah...no. that's way too much. as for the Switch Lite, it's $330, but if you look hard enough, you can get it for $300, BUT I highly doubt that it's gonna be cheaper than the current / regular Nintendo Switch. If anything, I'm expecting it to be A LOT more expensive. So long story short, I'm kinda interested to see what it is. :twi:

Switch never had dry years nearly as bad as WII :scoots:. MAY I REMIND EVERYONE OF E3 2008 :eww:?

I mean 2008 wasn't that bad in retrospect for the Wii. It had Mega Man 9 so by default it had a solid year, and even then, Brawl, Wario Land Shake It, MK Wii, De Blob, World of Goo, House of the Dead 2&3 Return, so I can't hate it. The E3 show that year sucked but they made up for with that Fall Conference a couple months later where they showed Sin and Punishment Star Successor and Punch-Out which was great

I wouldn't say the Switch had any in the way of dry spells either, they've been pretty consistent with releases. At worst you could say this year and late last year has been a bit too reliant on remasters, remakes and too many Mario Spin-offs

You want real dry spells, look to the Wii U, which had exactly one decent year and fuck all any other year

WIIU was DOA. That’s why ports and remasters on the Switch shouldn’t count to contribute to dry years for Switch, because that’s the first chance for most of us to play them.

but WII only had many dry years. At times it only had up to four worthwhile games per year, and even less in 08 and 09 if I recall. Still, it’s a whole can of worms and belongs to a more dedicated thread how WII was ruining Nintendo in the long run, being one of the main factors for WIIU’s failure
