I guess maybe they didnt want adults to enjoy what small kids like. Which i feel is what Generation 5 is going more back to. Its not attracting the adult crowd as much as Generation 4 did.

But here it is.

Its on Switch and PC.

But yeah. My theory is. No adults allowed. Since they probably saw it as too weird, so they waited til Gen 5 happend, and now its officially for kids again.

But whats your view?

If they really gave one iota about adults enjoying what small kids like, they wouldn't have made MLP G4 toys targeting bronies (Guardians of Harmony). No, it's simply because times have changed and companies need to push for a presence in the world of electronics more than ever with the growing popularity of digital toys.

I think I remember someone here mentioning that Gameloft had exclusive rights for G4 video games and that was the reason why there were no console games for that generation. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe it has something to do with the time, G4 had games, but it was in a time where one dead genre was still very popular and other genre was growing in popularity, G4 had plenty of browse and flash games, these games were still very popular back then, and Magic Princess came out during the boom of mobile games when stuff like gacha still wasn't a thing. I Believe what happened is that Hasbro at the time knew that a console games that would probably cost them a lot of money to develop weren't necessary for the IP to be a success in the video game area, so I think G4 was stuck in browse games and Magic Princess because that was how Hasbro learned to get money without wasting much, but maybe what KPackratt said about Gameloft owning the rights to develop games of the franchise could be a reason for it too, if it's true of course, I don't know if it is, then that contract ended in 2016 as since then Budge has been developing new MLP games for mobile (also, what the hell happened to Pocket Ponies? Can't find it on the store anymore)

G5 arrived in a time where browse games are pretty much extinct (or almost, I'm not completely sure, I know that Flash is dead, and well, that just killed it), but mobile is still very popular, so Hasbro decided to change things for the former, making now Console games for the new generation, as it was necessary to promote the series in the times we are currently living as Misty Shadow said, and keeping the production of mobile games. ~☆

I never thought of it that way before, but I think you might be right.

It makes me think of this old parody by CollegeHumor.

2011 was a very exploding time for this back then

On the other hoof. Friendship is Magic is far ahead of G5 in terms of tabletop gaming. Leaving board games alone (for now), we have the Tails of Equestria TTRPB from River Horse; and Renegade Game Studios as published the My Little Pony Roleplaying Game, My Little Pony Deck-Building Game and the upcoming My Little Pony: Festival of Lanterns tile-placing game. And there is also EnterPLAY's My Little Pony Collectible Card Game

There are a few kids' board games for MLP G5, and the video games that have already been brought up, but that's about it.
