"If that was something I'd see at an art auction, then I'd make sure to outbid anyone for that." Pinkie giggled with a wink as she awaited the arrival of the next participants.

With @ComanderZhabikKlavik Anarchylight and Commander Zhabik Klavik taking the stage, Pinkie's eyes wideneed as a table and chair spawned in out of nowhere. "Has someone else learned of my trade secret?" Pinkie gasped in both surprise and awe as the stage changed to an office setting. Upon hearing that jokes were to be told, Pinkie slowly disappeared behind the curtain. Only to end up slowly rising out from the crowd to sitting on a chair that was out of nowhere. "It looks like we got some more jokes to be told. So, go right ahead, you two! Hit me with your best shot~! Fire away~!" She responded in a sing song-like tone. As she listened to the joke, Pinkie's mind raced as she recalled a particular duck. "I still hope that he got the grapes he wanted when he went to his lemonade stand." She whispered to herself with a giggle. As she listened to the end of the first joke, Pinkie giggled as she she got the joke immediately. "How does the duck not know how talented he is? The circus would love a duck like that. He's such a quack up." She wiped a tear from her eye as she laughed at her pun, before the next joke began. "Awww! That's so sweet and cool! You'd think that the semi truck driver owned a part of the zoo. I hope he and those penguins had a great time visiting the zoo." She giggled, catching her breath as the next joke followed up from the previous. 

"Oooooh~! I see what he did there in the third joke! Very clever! Even the dog is a funny play on words. Yay for puns~!" Pinkie's giggles felt infectious as more and more of the crowd got into the puns and jokes from the duo. Once the duo's performance was complete, Pinkie cheered as loudly as she could, before hopping with a pep in her step back onto the stage. "What did you think of that folks? Looks like Anarchylight and Commander Zhabik gave us a rapid flurry of jokes left and right. I'm left in stitches from each joke they had. I also need to learn of your trade secret. It sounds like you and I have the same ideas in mind and I think we could set up an amazing party together." She responded to the two, before turning back towards the crowd. "Let's give them another round of applause!" She cheered as she applauded the retreating duo. "Up next we have another duo, or from what I've heard, an incredible team. Please put your hooves together for @ChrysalisM Cimex, Ellery Quinn and The Official Unofficial Equestrian Commedia Company!" She announced, hopping back stage behind the curtain in preparation for the next group.

The stage lights dim. Shortly after, a spotlight shines on the stage, and Cimex is standing in the center. 

 

"Fillies and Gentlecolts! I have arranged for you tonight to experience a theatrical experience such as-"

Suddenly, Ellery bursts onto the stage panting. "Message from the tech crew!"'

"What could it possibly be? I'm on stage right now!"

"I don't know! They said it was urgent though."

They open the letter and begin to read it out loud.

Dear Mr/s Cimex,

We are very sorry to interrupt the performance in this way, but we needed to inform you that we accidently dropped a 30 pound weight from up in the Grid. Based on our calculations, you will have roughly 3 seconds to dodge out of the way of it before it hits the stage.

Cimex looks up, and shrieks as she dives out of the way of a very large weight that drops from the ceiling, breaking a hole in the stage.

 

''Thank the gods! Now as I was saying-"

 

An earth pony dressed in black ran onto the stage from the other side.

 

"Another message for you!"

 

Cimex magically grabbed the second note from the techie, and opens it up.

 

Dear Mr/s Cimex,

Apologies, but we dropped another one. Think fast.

Cimex didn't even wait to dodge out of the way of the next one.

 

"You know what, let's just get on with the show... I present to you, with the help of the Unofficial Official Equestrian Commedia Company- Hold on..."

Suddenly, the techie ran back on-stage!

 

"Message from Arlecchino! The Commedia Company'll be here in a couple performance posts, but they've been delayed by traffic!"

 

"OH COME ON!!! Sorry folks, but we'll be back in a little bit..."

The changeling and the techie both quickly exit stage right, before quickly dashing back on with a sheet of plywood that they place over the two holes in the stage, and promptly departing again.

[Pinkie Pie 590]

As Cimex arrived on stage, Pinkie bounced on her hooves in excitement as to what the next performance would be like. "Ooooh~! I hope for songs, or dancing, or funny shenanigans. Maybe some more jokes. Oh! Maybe..." She stopped as Ellery made their way onto the stage to deliver what looked like a message. Suddenly and without warning, the party pony's tail started to twitch sporadically, signaling her Pinkie Sense. "Uh oh. A twitchy tail can only mean." She didn't have time to think as she quickly grabbed Dynamo and rushed off stage in a blur. As she zigged, zagged and slid into a giant pile of cake batter to protect her and the gaming unicorn. "Take cover, everypony!" Her voice was muffled by the cake batter, but the message was loud and clear as a giant weight had dropped onto the stage. Poking her eyes through the cake batter, Pinkie looked around to see that others had either backed away, did the same strategy she did or ran for the hills. Poking her head up from the batter, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Whew! That was close. I guess whoever dropped the weight couldn't weight for the performance to start." She giggled, before feeling her tail twitch once more, while her body began to shake and shiver. "Uh oh. Looks like we got ourselves a huge doozy coming on." She ducked back down into the batter as another thirty pound weight had dropped onto the stage. 

Just as soon as the weight had landed on stage, so too did her Pinkie sense cease. Looking up once more, Pinkie was glad to see that Cimex was safe from harm. Just as the performance was about to get back on track, another guest had stepped up on stage to deliver another message. Blinking in surprise from the outburst, it looked like Cimex had to postpone the peformace due to a traffic delay. "I hope it's not that traffic of sheep. I can't begin to tell anypony how horrible it was to get to YakYakitstan that one time." Ducking back down, Pinkie shook the batter off of her and Dynamo, while getting a bit of a treat from said cake batter. With a hum in delight, the party pony had placed a hoof upon her chin in thought. Contemplating on an idea of what to do next, before making a snap of her same hoof with an idea coming to mind. Leaping onto the stage, Pinkie took the spare microphone as she got the crowd's attention. "No need to panic, everypony! Unless we should all scream and panic, then that sounds like fun! At any rate, it looks like that was a part of  @ChrysalisM's performance! Although, it looks like there seems to be a delay, so we'll save their performance for later." Giving thanks to the changeling's help on fixing the stage, Pinkie used her tail to grab the weights as she walked them backstage. Looking back at the list of names, it looked as if everyone had already gone. Humming in thought, Pinkie smiled as she would improvise.

Taking notice of a purple earth pony mare with a pink and cyan mane, a pink tail and green eyes, Pinkie pointed to her in the audience. "Hello~! We're looking for anypony that would like to come on stage and show what they've got. Bringing their 'A' Game and have fun and share in the laughter. Would you like to give it a try? Would anypony also like to give it a go?" For those that would come up on stage, she and Dynamo would make sure to have them form a line so that everypony would get their turn to shine.

Emerald Heart waves a hoof somewhat sarcastically and walks on stage. She takes the microphone and let's out a deep breath. "So, as I was saying to my new friend back there- I wasn't supposed to be part of the show. Me? Emerald Heart? Comedian? No,  no, no babe. They keep me back there working tech for a reason. The reason being that all these lights make my mane fuzzy and highlight my natural beauty." Emerald Heart winks and strikes an exaggerated pose. "Five of my lovely friends are out here in the audience tonight I see. Mariposa, Fable, Hot Cocoa, and Conch Shell- amazing and interesting jobs they have. Not much compared to a simple mailpony like me. I'm not even gonna bother making jokes about them since they've already made one out of me! Just kidding, just kidding. They're the best. Now for the end of my show I would like to share something that has been weighing on me for years. Something deep and emotional." Emerald places a hoof on her heart and fake tears spill out of her twinkling green eyes, "The hay sandwiches in Ponyville just don't taste as good as they used to be."  Her final words come out in an a wobbly tone of voice. Emerald is out of ideas and not very good at improv. She returns the microphone to it's stand and takes a sarcastic bow before exiting the stage.

"Ah!! ... Good gravy!!" Trilby nearly has a panic attack as each weight falls from on high, shielding himself from any danger. But his mouth is left a big gap when the act suddenly leaves. "Ah- I-- Ee-- WAT?!" Trilby is beside himself with a derped expression on his face (). He takes a look around before holding up his microphone.

"Uh... Sorry folks, technical difficulties. ...I think... Cimex will return to continue their performance later, maybe? I haven't been this confused since a customer kept calling Trilby Hatter's Headwear Emporium to order 20 pizzas. Turns out, they were using an old phone book from three years ago. We'll take a moment to get this sorted, so hang tight, everypony!" Trilby says.

Putting his mic down, he takes a moment to look around and survey the crowd, making sure no one in the audience and none of the talent was harmed either. He notices Emerald Heart, and wants to say something to her, but...

Trilby is instantly taken a back when her lack of confidence quickly shifts into a hilarious stand-up routine! Trilby ends up laughing to the point of having to gnaw his hoof to keep form laughing too much. He lets the audience have their reaction, then he collects himself and holds up his microphone once more.

"Now that was a masterclass in misdirection! And with a little bit of self-deprecation humor mixed in? I felt bad for laughing, but as the old saying goes; if you can't laugh at yourself~. Reminds me of the time I accidentally double-banded a fedora. When I couldn't secure it properly, the second band came undone and became a floppy tail. I may have been red in the face that day, but the costumer got a free replacement band out of it! Point is, that was a fantastic comedy routine. She came out and owned that stage, and I'll take her joke delivery over a delivery of bills any day. Everypony, let's give another round of applause to Emerald Heart!" Trilby exclaims.

As @Emerald Heart Emerald took the stage, Pinkie Pie hopped off stage in order to get a good spot to enjoy the performance. "I've got to say that this year's Goof Off has been a blast! There's been weights that have dropped, cake being launched, standup comedy and so much more! This easily takes the cake for best Goof Off Ever~! Oh, I can't wait to see what Emerald has for us." She grinned eagerly as the lavender mare took the microphone. As she listened to Emerald mention that she wasn't a comedian, Pinkie blinked in confusion. "Not a comedian, or is that way to say that they are a comedian, but then not a comedian, but then secretly a super comedian?" She whispered to herself, while only the crowd around her could hear. "Oooooh~! I did notice that! Her mane looks really bright and fluffy!" She exclaimed, looking around as she noticed the friends that Emerald had been talking about. It was always heartwarming to see the support from friends supporting a friend. Gasping in surprise at Emerald's final comment, a moment of realization dawned upon Pinkie. "You're right! I knew something seemed off about the hay sandwiches! I always thought to add some ketchup, mustard and other condiments, but mostly to get back that delicious flavor. Sounds like we need to find that old recipe." Pinkie responded, knowing now she had a goal in sight. However, that goal would have to wait as she gave a round of applause alongside the crowd at Emerald's performance. "Let's give it up for Emerald Heart, everypony!" She exclaimed, hopping back onto the stage as Emerald gave her bow, before taking her exit.

As she was about to ask if anypony else wanted to take part in the Goof Off, she looked over to @Dynamo Pad Dynamo, who had previously exited the cake batter she and him had hidden in. All for a lightbulb to appear above her that lit up as an idea took form. With a dash, she had appeared by him in a flash, while wearing an ecstatic grin on her face. "Dynamo! I just had the best idea!" She exclaimed, before whispering to the gaming unicorn. Taking glances at Trilby from time to time, before turning back towards Dynamo. "Soooooo~? What do you think?" She asks with a sly smile.

As the gaming unicorn had made his way out of the cake batter, he shook his head to remove any excess cake batter on him. It was honestly all a blur for the unicorn as he tried to process what had happened. The one moment, he was back on stage making sure that everything was running smoothly. The next, Pinkie was right by him, before she grabbed his hoof. He didn't even had a chance to speak as she pulled him across the stage, before taking a giant leap. It was as if Dynamo's hooves were lighter than air as she swept him off his hooves. The next thing he knew he was diving headfirst into the pile of cake batter. Followed by the sound of something crashing onto the stage. Upon his exit, he had seen that it was a number of weights, but from where, he wasn't entirely certain. "I will admit that I knew that Goof Off's tend to get become over the top, but I think this year's Goof Off really outdid itself." He says, before Pinkie appeared by him once more. He was surprised at first from the sudden appearance, but he soon took notice of Pinkie's sly expression. As she leaned towards his left ear, the gaming unicorn glanced over to @Samurai Equine Trilby, before his eyes glanced back towards the pink party mare. "Hmmm...I know there might still be some participants, but I think that's a really good idea. Thanks for the suggestion, Pinkie!" He grinned, before heading towards Trilby. "Hey, Trilby! Pinkie and I are about to head back on stage, but the moment we give the signal, it's halftime show time." He smiled with a wink, before heading towards the steps that lead to the stage.

Once he made it towards the center, he levitated the microphone over towards him as he grabbed the audience's attention. "Hello, everypony! I hope that you're all enjoying this year's Goof Off, so far! We're still taking any and all participants that would love to show what they've got! However, if you do, please form a line at the steps and we can add you to the list! In the meantime, I think a little halftime show is in order! In which case, please give it up for your halftime show guest, @Samurai Equine Trilby Hatter!!!" Dynamo exclaimed, giving the signal by pointing to Trilby to join both Dynamo and Pinkie on stage.

Trilby nods, half-paying attention to what Dynamo is saying as he looks forward to whatever is next. However, when Dynamo makes the announcement, he nearly drops his own microphone from surprise. "Guh?! What?! ME?! Right now? Uh... Okay, I guess we're doing this!! Just... Give me a sec, okay?"

Trilby makes his way to the stage, but when he does, he magically teleports a few other stallions to the stage with him. They seem upset and confused, but he pulls them into a huddle. Only whispers of their conversation can be heard.
...Something about how he'll pay them...
...Something about how they practiced for this...
...Something about how it's just this one time...
But soon, the conversation seems to resolve. The stallions put on matching straw boater hats, and they each receive a microphone. They all line up into position, side-by-side, with Trilby standing in the middle.

"Fillies and Gentlecolts! Trilby Hatter's Headwear Emporium is proud to present... Trilby Hatter and the Ragtime Jukebox. Please enjoy this halftime show while the staff makes necessary repairs and maintenance. Ready, gang? A 1, a 2, a 1-2-3~!" Trilby starts them off with a countdown.

With a little bit of a flare and some light dancing, the 5-pony group begin to sing an accapella song that quickly turns into a doo-wop!
But in the middle of it, some of Trilby's fellow singers playfully start to push him around. It's all fun and games until Trilby starts to slip and slide on some leftover cake still on the stage.
He does his best to recover and sing along with the group. However, the other singers soon smirk with a devious idea. As the song draws to a close, they make Trilby trip and fall. Thus, the song ends with Trilby landing face-first in a pile of cake. When he lifts his cake-covered face, he smiles and bows with his fellow singers.
"Thank you! Thank you. Enjoy the rest of the Goof Off, and don't forget to shop at Trilby's Headwear Emporium for all your hat needs!"

After letting the audience applaud or react however they want, Trilby teleports his fellow singers back home, walks off the stage, and starts cleaning himself off. Thankfully, his hat somehow remains unharmed.

@Samurai Equine Emerald Heart is still backstage and a bit frazzled. She offers Trilby a nod and a proud smile for his performance.

Shiny : "For somepony who pretends to not be a comedian, you've done fairly good at entertaining us! Isn't that right, my fellow pastry friend made of non-edible materials?" *The unicorn with a silver mane merrily praised her.*

"Fillies and Gentlecolts! Trilby Hatter's Headwear Emporium is proud to present... Trilby Hatter and the Ragtime Jukebox. Please enjoy this halftime show while the staff makes necessary repairs and maintenance. Ready, gang? A 1, a 2, a 1-2-3~!" Trilby starts them off with a countdown.

With a little bit of a flare and some light dancing, the 5-pony group begin to sing an accapella song that quickly turns into a doo-wop!
But in the middle of it, some of Trilby's fellow singers playfully start to push him around. It's all fun and games until Trilby starts to slip and slide on some leftover cake still on the stage.
He does his best to recover and sing along with the group. However, the other singers soon smirk with a devious idea. As the song draws to a close, they make Trilby trip and fall. Thus, the song ends with Trilby landing face-first in a pile of cake. When he lifts his cake-covered face, he smiles and bows with his fellow singers.
"Thank you! Thank you. Enjoy the rest of the Goof Off, and don't forget to shop at Trilby's Headwear Emporium for all your hat needs!"

After letting the audience applaud or react however they want, Trilby teleports his fellow singers back home, walks off the stage, and starts cleaning himself off. Thankfully, his hat somehow remains unharmed.

*Once @Samurai Equine Trilby and the Ragtime Jukebox finished their performance, Shiny Silvermoon set Croissanto aside to have both of her front hooves free. She then vigorously applauded them.*

Shiny : "Woohoo! That was amazing! Encore! Encore!" *The uncorn cheerfully beamed.*

Upon taking notice of @Samurai Equine Trilby's microphone nearly, Dynamo gave a kind and sincere smile. "Eeyup! No worries and no rush. You've got this!" He says, before the gaming unicorn turned his attention towards the crowd. "As Trilby's halftime performance is happening, I still want to address this to the crowd. For anyone that wishes to take part in the Goof Off and hasn't happened to write their name down, please feel free to make your way towards the stage. Please, make a line at the steps over here as Pinkie and I will write your name down and we'll bring you up on stage." Dynamo explained, Trilby making his way onto the stage. As a few other stallions were being teleported onto the stage, Dynamo had to blink and do a double take to make sure he wasn't seeing things. "Wait...were they always here, or did Trilby teleport other ponies? Unless he did the similo duplexes spell that Starlight had told me about." He pondered as Trilby pulled the stallions into a group huddle. He didn't have time to question anything further as Trilby began the halftime performance.

As the doo-wop song began to play, Dynamo found himself tapping his hoof to the beat. He slowly smiled, but that smile morphed into a grin as he found the song to be really catchy. His eyes glanced over to Pinkie, who was dancing and jamming to the song, as well. Dancing over towards her, he offered her his hoof. "May I have this dance?" He asks, before being spun around as the two danced to the beat. He and Pinkie danced away on stage, as well as other audience members in the crowd joining in the dance off stage. However, the dancing had stopped briefly as the sound of someone slamming into cake batter could be heard. Looking around to see what was happening, Dynamo soon learned that Trilby had tripped, fell and landed face-first in a pile of cake. "Oooooh~! That looked like it had to hurt. Are you okay, Trilby!?" He winced slightly, before seeing Trilby standing up, teleporting the singers back and walked off stage. "In that case, let's give it up for Trilby Hatter, everyone!" Dynamo applauded, while hoping that the hat salespony was doing okay.

With Trilby taking the stage and Dynamo taking on any names for the Goof Off, Pinkie was feeling ecstatic at what the hat salespony had in mind. "I don't think we've had a halftime show before. This could very well be the first and best halftime performance of any Goof Off ever~!" Pinkie grinned in glee, before watching as Trilby had teleported more stallions onto the stage. "A group performance!? Even better! I wonder if they need instruments. Thank Celestia I got a number of those when I had to take care of that parasprite invasion." She giggled as she recalled the memory, before watching as the group broke out into a doo-wop performance. "Ooooooh~! Now this is my jam!" Pinkie hopped around in place as she broke out into a dance. She felt that her dancing was in the zone as the song was music to her ears. She had momentarily stopped dancing as Dynamo had made his way over towards her, offering his hoof to her in a dance. "I thought you'd never ask!" She grinned, accepting his hoof as she spun him around. Only for the two of them to dance together on stage, while the audience members began to slowly join in on the dance along with them. As Pinkie was enjoying the fun dancing, she had stopped as she too had heard the sound of someone slammed into cake batter. Looking to the source, she had seen that @Samurai Equine Trilby had been the one to land headfirst into the cake batter that was on stage. "Huh. I thought all the cake batter that I jumped out of had landed outside of the stage. I guess I must have missed a piece or two of batter, but I was going to save that cake for later. Oh, well." She giggled, applauding Trilby's song, slip and sliding to the cake to finish the halftime show. 

"Woohoo!!! Bravo! Encore! Encore! Bravo!" She applauded as Trilby had taken his leave of the stage. "I hope we get to see many more halftime performances in every and all future Goof Off's! That was so super duper fun! At any rate, the time has come to see if anyone else wants to step into the ring in this year's Goof Off!"

Trilby overhears Emerald. Turning to her, he puts a hoof on her shoulder. "Sister, take it from an old salespony. I've been all over this crazy land of Equestria. I've been to the barren lands of Dodge City, the hustling big city of Fillydelphia, and just about every place in between. I've also been to some town that friendship forgot for a long while, but there's no point in talking about that... Point is, I've been everywhere and seen everything; including the shows of talented ponies. And you? You're talented. There's no pony holding you back except yourself. Don't be like me... No friends, no customers, and no adventures to show for it. You can dream big all you want, but it won't happen unless you make it happen. You do that, and you'll go far. I just know it. I believe in ya, sister." Trilby bows.

Trilby winks and points at Dynamo. "Thank you tons, grandmaster of ceremonies." He says in honor of the support. But Trilby stops and examines Dynamo a little harder. He scratches his chin as he ponders. "I swear, I've seen that blue pony around somewhere... McDaffodil's? A fabric supplier? Jazz club? Hmmm... Oh well. I'm sure it will come to me." Trilby thinks to himself before shrugging it off.

Emerald Heart smiles at Trilby and nods. She then returns to her usual self- a kind pony with a bit of sarcasm mixed in. "Wow. A stallion like you with no friends? You must have been only been talking to the..." Emerald sticks her tongue out and twirls her hoof next to her head, "... The crazies.  Y'know? You seem like a nice dude. I can name six ponies who would love to be your friend. Hint hint, pal, one of them is me." Emerald nudges Trilby's shoulder playfully. "My name's Emerald Heart. I like your hat. It suits you."
