Are you ever afraid of saying the wrong thing?

All the time, and usually for good reason! God nerfed me because if I were not reserved in the shit I say most of the time I would be saying some real garbage without thinking. Happens 9 times out of 10 when I run my mouth :pinkie:

Of course, I think everyone is afraid of that to some extent.

I think it’s important to give others the benefit of the doubt and assume they have the right intentions. Most people don’t want to actively hurt others and probably don’t want to hurt you either. People just have different ways of showing things…

I’m sometimes afraid of saying the wrong thing, both in real life and on the forums, even though nothing I say is with bad intentions, I’m afraid others will view it that way.

i feel this way all the time, afraid to say something wrong; or where it lands wrong. Intentions are always good but the receiver can see it as bad. I try to add emoji's to my post sometimes to give way to what i meant, though even that can go wrong..+ i also read things wrong sometimes myself as english isn't my native language and i'm hypersensitive, so.. I'm afraid of it but I also need to learn not to think the worst when others write to me? if that makes any sense at all

I feel that way all the time due to personal issues. It makes me feel like I need to overexplain myself—and when I explain too much it makes me overthink more

I also tend to overexplain, to the point where people around me find me a right chatterbox......

I used to be very afraid of saying the wrong thing, but I am entirely over that by now.

Unfortunately, due to my profession, I often have to say the "wrong" thing.

But really, I would submit that the concept of "right" and "wrong" things to say doesn't set us up for success ahead of time.

Life is tricky and messy, and if you're doing right by people, you're going to have to tell them all kinds of things they don't want to hear.

That doesn't mean you said the "wrong" thing.

Then people come at you with, it's not what you're saying but how you're saying it.

People don't always know you well enough to know how you prefer to be told things.

And even if they do, they have needs and boundaries of their own.

They may have a duty to tell you a certain thing, a certain way.

Sometimes the news is good, often it isn't.

It's a careful proceedure, to be sure, talking to people, and it should be.

But it's on everyone, and I mean everyone, no exceptions, to remember that none of us are flawless.

We've got dents and we've got quirks, so the fit ain't factory tolerances...

mmmmm sometimes :3

i think that's natural though? i dont rlly let it limit or inhibit me, though. i try to say what's on my mind, but if there's a degree of filter required then i'll try to tone it down a little uwu for the most part though, no i try not to hesitate or overthink the things i say ^~^

a caveat to this is it only really applies if i say anything at all >:3c i tend to be a bit more shy, and so generally i don't really say much to feel self conscious about in the first place

I've gone and said the wrong thing way too many times to the point where I don't even remember how many times I have done so. At times, I am afraid of doing this because I know that my brain isn't working quite right thanks to my disability. Other times, I just accept the consequences there and then.
