Eenohay 318 January 23, 2012 Share January 23, 2012 I always think about all of the mane 6 jobs, some are obvious, like Rarity's and Applejack's, but the rest aren't. Rarity: Dress Maker/Seller. Applejack: Apple farmer/seller. Rainbow Dash: Something weather. Fluttershy: She takes care of animals, but I don't see how that could make her any money. There is a vet in ponyville, and it's not her, and she doesn't seem to sell them either, so I guess it all comes down on her chickens. Pinkie Pie: We see her baking and making parties all the time. Since apparently she lives in sugarcube corner, she probably pays them, baking for the store. Also there's the party thing: Usually it seems she does parties cause she wants to, but she was the host of Diamond Tiara's cuteceañera, so party planner might also be her job. Twilight Sparkle: Librarian? She lives in a library, but we barely ever see her lending any books, and it's not like she was just lending it as a friend. She doesn't really seem to be a librarian. I think it's probable that Princess Celestia pays for her. So what do you think about the last 3? joeyh3 153 January 23, 2012 Share January 23, 2012 It seems very likely that Pinkie Pie does work for Sugarcube Corner, with a portion of her pay going to cover renting a room there. She probably does do party planning on the side, but I think that's her working independently of Sugarcube corner, and it's not actually part of her employment there. Fluttershy seems to be more focused on wild, unowned animals instead of pets (thus why she had so many choices to offer Rainbow - non of the animals there had owners). Since vets usually only take care of pets with owners, Fluttershy is technically in a different line of business from the vets (Opal seems to be the exception to this rule, due to her friendship with Rarity). As for how she makes money, the best explanation I've seen came from a fanfic named "Fluttershy's Poem", which says that she receives a grant for what she does - Ponyville pays her to care for the wild animals, while pet owners pay the vets to take care of their pets. I don't think Twilight is a librarian at all. Keep in mind that there was never any mention of their being a librarian before she arrived in Ponyville, so my guess is that Ponyville's library works more on an honors system (if you take a book, you're simply trusted to bring it back, with nopony actually keeping track of active circulation). Instead, she probably is receiving an allowance from Princess Celestia so that she can focus on her studies instead of worrying about making money otherwise. Really, other than food, she probably doesn't even need much money - she's getting to live in the library for free, and being a bookworm, she doesn't need to spend any money on entertainment as she's surrounded by thousands of books. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Changing the weather is probably a government program as well, so Rainbowdash would also get paid by the government. Pinkiepie would get a wage by working Mr. and Mrs. Cake. As for Twilight Sparkle, I would think the government or Celestia herself would support her since she is basically Celesta's apprentice. Pinkiepie gets work making cupcakes. Fluttershy doesn't really seem like the type of person who needs money. Most likely she gets it through a flower boutique or picking herbs. Rarity is obvious. Some grad students get stipends for their research and Twilight is doing research so Celestia is probably paying her Fluttershy: wild animal management/ care and animal trainer/ care consultant. She's probably paid by the Mayor. Pinkie Pie: baking apprentice, paid by the Cakes Rainbow: weather assistant? I've never really seen her go to work. Probably paid by the Mayor. Rainbow Dash is a weathermare, possibly chief weathermare in Ponyville if her role in the Summer Sun Celebration is any indication. Fluttershy's job is much harder to pin down, but she appears to run an animal shelter out of her home for a small government stipend. She may also do pet adoptions on the side. Applejack of course works for and may even be the owner of Sweet Apple Acres, taking over from Granny Smith and so on. Rarity works as a dressmaker and creator of fine clothes. She might also have a business as a general tailor, patching clothes and such for ponies in town. Pinkie Pie is a pastry chef working at Sugarcube Corner, though I'm guessing she doesn't earn as much as she might, because she also works for room and board. Rarity - Proprietor and main employee of the Carousel Boutique, also commission fashion designer. Pinkie Pie - Baker and tenant of Sugarcube Corner. She clearly keeps the Library organised and orderly, and appears to lend a hand in giving books to those who need them. I'm assuming that the books are free to use to anypony in Ponyville, as the CMC rents a book in "The Show Stoppers" and they likely wouldn't have any bits. I'd assume she is probably payed to do this, but remember she is still also a student under the wing of Princess Celestia, Rainbow Dash - She works controling the Weather for Ponyville, and must be one of the higher-up members, as she is both the leader of the Weather team in "Winter Wrap-Up" and the one chosen to clear the sky of all clouds for the Summer Sun Celebration in the first Episode. I'd assume she gets payed a rather decent amount for this. Fluttershy - She cares for, and raises animals. Both domestic and wild, it would seem. She likely does not get payed for this, as I'm fairly confident Fluttershy would be too kind to accept money for aiding any pets that are brought to her. Especially since it is something she truly enjoys doing. Applejack - Not much to say here, everypony knows she manages and maintains Sweet Apple Acres. As well as sells apple goods the to wonderful pony folk of Ponyville! Rarity - Proprieter of the Carousel boutique, where she creates and sells custom dresses of her own design. The place to go for the best of dresses, and the most spectacular of suits! Pinkie Pie - She is employed by Mr. and Mrs. cake to help with the baking of the most delicious snack in all of Equestria, at Sugarcube Corner in Ponyville! She is supplied residence for working there, it would seem, and I'm sure she gets a few bits for her excellent baked goods as well! And lets not forget, she is also the go-to babysitter for the Cakes, since she is the bestest friend of Pound Cake and Carrot Cake! Keep in mind, a lot of this is just speculation. Based simply on observation and done completely from memory, cause I'm a bit too lazy to do any reasearch. TL;DR Version. Yeah, I can't see Rainbow Dash sitting behind a desk or anything for more than a few seconds, but I definitely believe she's in charge of Ponyville's weather team in general. It's a rather cushy job for her too, since it seems to leave her with plenty of free time to do whatever she wants and still have a large house. Granted, we've not seen its interior...
