gaming I have found a reason to get a Vita

I learned the other day that the Vita will have a goodly amount of PSP games available for download right off of PSN. I've wanted a PSP for a long time but haven't had the money and it was gonna be the first thing I got with whatever money I got from whatever job I get (Yeah, still jobless)

Now I may not even need to get a PSP at all since everything will be available for Vita. Though there may be some things I will need an actual PSP for (I hear Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep actually isn't on the downloadable list) there's still a lot of games on the confirmed list that I want. That's not even counting whatever the Vita has available for it. I don't really know anything the Vita has on it but the whole PSP backwards compatibility and downloadable thing is a done-did sale for me and I love to play games I know nothing about so just randomly going in and buying Vita games I know nothing about will be fun.

I've had a PS3 for over two years now I think. I don't know much about the PSP crowd regardless though. The whole scene from the community to the games is pretty unknown to me. I just knew there were a lot of PSP games I wanted.

I don't mod my consoles. If I wanna play any of those systems I will get the systems themselves or any other system that plays those games such as Wii for NES, SNES and N64 games and such.

It feels almost like defiling my console if I were to mod it, legal or not.

Eh, seems promising. I've never been one for console gaming, though.

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

Oh believe me, I have plenty of reasons for wanting a 3DS too but between the two the Vita sold me with the PSP stuff. There's a whole lot more games I want on PSP than I want on DS and 3DS and the Vita's library is relatively unknown to me but also new so it'll have a lot of life left in it. (3DS does too, of course, but I'm sold on the Vita)

I'll get both eventually but a Vita comes first.

You're right, some PSP games weren't on the PSN Store the last I saw. When I had a PSP Go, I used other ways to get games that weren't on the Store. (OF course, I owned the actual games, but had no way to play them.)

If you want to see what there is, download Media Go from Sony, and create a PSN account. You'll get access to the PSP version of the store on your PC.

I don't need to see what there is, really. I've seen a confirmed list (confirmed by Sony, that is) of what there is and that's enough. If there's anything else or if anything is added by the time I actually get the Vita that's all the better for me.

Different people have their own reasons to get certain consoles, and for the most part, their respective list of reasons can be endless.

That said, I'm a person who enjoys all types of gaming, ergo I buy ever single system out there to experience it from all perspectives, and I'm indifferent to things such as console wars. So, in my mind, there's a perfect reason to buy, and to not buy, any console out there (that way, I won't sounds biased! lol :P).

I think the Vita's backwards compatibility is bad. It's way too inconvenient. For the first part, you can't even playuse physical UMD's of original PSP software, so that REALLY sucks. You can buy full PSP games digitally on the PS Store, but only the ones that you've bought using the PS3/PSP versions of the PS Store, because the PSV store lacks content! Even more annoyingly, you can download PSP games that you've bought using the other two stores, so at least you can play PSP software in the first place.

But still, in that sense, the 3DS is way better and supportive when it comes to backwards compatibility gaming, but not in every single factor. I really hope that they make a peripheral (extremely unlikely) that allows you to run UMD's, but then again, the Vita itself doesn't even run that kind of software, so I have no idea what they'll do for that.

Those aren't terrible inconveniences (though inconveniences nonetheless) and as long as it can be done that's all that really matters to me. I may have to get a PSP for some games anyway so if there's any point where I get tired of having to do the work-around then I'll have the PSP.

I am a totally unbiased gamer as far as consoles and companies go. I am no fan or hater of any company so I don't say things like "It's Nintendo so I'll buy it first"

I would buy all the consoles each generation had I the money for it but I don't so I kinda have to pick and choose. For now I'm choosing the Vita though for the reasons I've already posted.

  • 3 weeks later...

I wish the Vita had a bigger library... because if it did it'd easily be one of my favorite consoles. When I got my Vita, it was like the first time I got a Gameboy. It was unreal. It's super comfortable to hold and it was the perfect weight, the screen is enormous, and there's so many controls. Dual. analog. sticks.

Still there's only one seriously original game on there: Gravity Rush

But it's a must play. Instant classic in my book.

Lumines is also awesome. Uncharted is ok. Katamari is... Katamari. I hope we see more new IPs on the system this year. The system has so much potential.

Plus, the way the apps and games are arranged(kinda like an iPhone) you can have a custom wallpaper for each page of apps. And I have six pages of apps... (hint: Mane 6 wallpapers)

Crisis Core FFVIII and Birth by Sleep are the only big omissions I say for the PSN downloads.

However they're so good that getting a PSP still might not be a bad thing (Your psp downloads can be put onto the vita)

Aside from that the VIta is one hell of an awesome portable.

It does so much and to me is like having a PS3 in your pocket.

I can't wait to see what the future brings in terms of games.

The only reason I'd get one. Big yet portable screen for porn!

I'm not a Sony fan at all, and the Vita is of no concern to me. It is cool though!

Ubisoft will be releasing a paralell assasin's creed game exclusively for the vita when AC 3 comes out for major consoles. It will take place in New Orleans and you will play as a female, creole, assassin. It takes place during a revolt that happened when the New Orleanians found out their colony had been handed over to Spain.

further reason to own a Vita.

I'm pretty cool. I think.

Also, new OC (it has a cutie mark this time!).

Gravity Rush is a big reason for buying a Vita. it's a fun game. I'd probably wait just a bit still before getting one, however. Rock Band unplugged still isn't on the PSN download list, and it's the only PSP game I played a lot. If the new Rock Band Blitz is on Vita, that would sell it for me. that and importing the new Project Diva game.
