  1. It's almost been five years but I am working on My Little Dashie again. Sorry for the wait.

    Stay tuned.

  2. I hated hated hated hated hated hated hated Pinkie Pie. She annoyed me to no end. After the Gilda episode, I started to like her more. I'd have to say that she's my 2nd favorite now next to Fluttershy. I also really didn't like Rarity at first since she seemed so "girly" because she likes fashion and boys. But her characters grown on me. She's the best singer, and a lot of my favorite episodes revolve around her. Especially "Suited for Success" which is great for people who are artists. When I started seeing Rarity as an artist, and not some girl who was obsessed with dresses, I like her and connected with her a lot more.
  3. 1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs 2. Crystal Castles 3. The Beatles 4. David Bowie 5. The White Stripes I'm also fond of TV on the Radio, Gorillaz, NIN, Beck and though they aren't really a band I listen to a lot of Daft Punk.
  4. I just recently saw an action movie called The Raid: Redemption. Not the *most* violent or gory film I've seen, not by a longshot... but it's still pretty darn violent. Highly recommended. It's one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Also the movie Drive has a few short bursts of violence, but when it gets gory it really gets gory. Regardless of how violent it is, it's one of my favorite movies ever!
  5. Lauren Faust didn't give them a specific age for a reason. They're ponies. They have completely different maturity from humans. It's like my cat. She's probably almost 30 in cat years(it's that look in her eyes)... and sometimes that really shows... but other times she acts like a pampered 6 year old. The ponies don't age like people. In my mind, they're probably 18-24, but can be mature as someone in their 30s(like Rarity can be) but also as temperamental as a 16 year-old(like Rarity can be) or as immature as an 8 year-old(like Rarity can be). I'd put Shining Armor and Big Mac in their late 20s/early 30s. And they actually sort of act their age(Though I think Shining Armor sounds too young, and Big Mac plays with dolls lol)
  6. A. Superman hand down. I'm just thinking of how fast and easily Celestia was taken down during the Royal Wedding. B. I did not even know Superman had powerful weapons. I never thought he'd need them. I don't even know what the Elements of Harmony really do... they just glow really bright and solve problems... I guess the edge goes to Celestia. C. Celestia hands down. Equestria is... a utopia. There are very few conflicts(no crime, no hunger, no prejudice, no war), and the biggest problems are related to... friendship. Superman is a great protector and all but he isn't powerful enough to change human nature...
  7. I think she was. But not all Mary Sues are bad. I only dislike Mary Sue's when they are the main character. They can work very well as supporting characters (Celestia) My problem with Cadence is that Shining Armor is also "perfect" and their wedding is also so royal and perfect and magical... and I just got a little bit sick from how girly and frilly everything was getting before Chrysallis came and things became bada** again.
  8. I really don't see it happening. Too much controversy. Just in the fandom alone. I liked the Derpy name. I liked her eyes. I personally didn't like her original voice. But I would've loved an episode with Derpy as the main character, I think she had a lot of potential since at her core, she's just aclumsy pony. I would've watched an episode about a pony who can't do anything right, but I don't see it happening now unfortunately.
  9. Irreversible and Enter the Void. I've seen people get their heads chopped off and whatever... but stuff like Saw or Battle Royale are so unrealistic that they don't affect me that much. For Irreversible and Enter the Void... the violence is just too real, and their placement in the story just make them too emotionally taxing for me. They're great films IMO. But definitely not for younger people. Seriously, this isn't Pulp Fiction... these two movies might just scar you for life. Not only are they extremely violent and messed up... but their messages are just super depressing. Like y'know how they say Jaws makes you afraid to go back into the water? Those two movies just make you afraid to continue living. Kill Bill, Battle Royale, The Thing, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil... Those movies are all very violent, but fun to watch. If you don't want to be severely depressed, avoid the other two films I recommended, and check out these other ones. These ones are gory but fun. Also, there's a French horror movie called Eyes Without A Face. It's pretty old(1960s?) but it was very controversial when it came out and I think the effects hold up very well. It definitely made me squeamish, and it's hard for movies that old(or even recent ones) to do that. OK I just remembered another few really good gory movies: OLDBOY It's a Korean revenge movie. Really really good story, and some pretty intense violence. One of my favorite films of all time. Let the Right One In It's a Swedish vampire movie. They had a remake a few years ago(Let Me In) but the Swedish one's more violent(though LMI was really good for a remake).
  10. Season 5 of Breaking Bad. Nothing like watching a dark gritty drama about cooking meth in between seasons of my favorite colorful pony cartoon.
  11. I actually think Adventure Time is better than My Little Pony. I hope I don't get crucified for that, I love MLP, but Adventure Time is one of my favorite shows ever. It's not very plot-based, but most cartoons aren't. It's about as plot-based as MLP IMO, which is juuuust right for a cartoon. I think all of the characters are great, the show is very imaginative. There's some brilliant creature designs and I personally really like the music score. Every once in a while there are some more plot-based/character-driven episodes that you can really get into emotionally. But at the same time, the show never takes itself too seriously. I don't watch the new Dr. Who, but I loved the show when it was on a few years ago. I never know when it's on, and it might be hard to catch up. But I loved the show because it was just so imaginative at times. Like Adventure Time, it doesn't take itself too seriously, but knows how to make you emotionally invested. There's a lot of quirky designs and some thought-provoking ideas sprinkled throughout. The acting as I remember was pretty good, but I think they've changed actors once or twice since I last watched the show. I think with both shows... they just have to *click* with their audience. There's tiny little details in them that win you over, but they're easily missed. I think beyond all the acting, animation, comedy, action, writing, etc. there's something that people just subconsciously connect to. Like MLP, it can be a show you become hooked to immediately, or several episodes. I got really into AT and DW after seeing just one episode, but with MLP I watched it from the beginning and didn't see what was so special and then I just gradually fell in love with the characters.
  12. THE LAST F***ING AIRBENDER I didn't think it was possible for a project with so many people and so much time and so much money to turn out like... like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RpgbZcHk_A&feature=related Also Dragonball: Evolution. I've heard a lot of people mention Rubber. The movie isn't actually that "dumb." At least not in the way The Last Airbender is. The guy was clearly trying to send a message about storytelling... but the message was still pretty shallow and stupid. From the trailers, I felt like the movie was going to be surprisingly deep, like there was a really strong subtext. But I thought the movie ended up being obnoxious and way too long. The director just flat out said what the movie was about at the beginning... that it was about nothing... and then I felt like he was just stroking his own ego by making the story go on and on and on. If it was 15 minutes long and was just of the tire blowing stuff up... it would've been deep and powerful filmmaking(seriously)... but it was so convoluted and overblown that it collapsed on itself. It was more disappointing than dumb. A dumb movie that's actually really fun to watch is The Room. Check that one out.
  13. Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. Don't want to give away too many details, but it's an extremely beautifully written book and it's also very very sad. It makes you think about how delicate all the relationships in your life are, and how delicate everything in general is. I think the story will make you appreciate all of the time that you've got in the world though. I have a pretty strong heart, but The Giving Tree is always effective. I was in a bookstore when I saw that book in the kids section. I remembered it from when I was like 5, so I picked it up, sat down and started reading it right there in the store, but I got kinda embarrassed because I started crying, and there were little kids all over the place since it was the kid's section.
  14. I remember the first time I watched Adventure Time. I hadn't seen Cartoon Network in years (No Samurai Jack... also My Gym Partner's A Monkey and Johnny Test just sort of made me hate watching cartoons) So one day I flipped on the TV and they played an episode and the music just reminded me of playing my gameboy as a kid, and then the whole boy with his magic dog thing just made me super nostalgic... and it was the one where there were a bunch of princesses, and as soon as they introduced LSP in that episode I became hooked onto the show. Since then I've been watching a lot more cartoons. I think if it wasn't for Adventure Time, I wouldn't have discovered Regular Show, The Legend of Korra and My Little Pony. So the show's super meaningful to me.
  15. Hell Yeah Sex Bob-Omb! If you like their music, maybe you'd like Beck. Unless you already know his music. But he wrote all of the music that Sex Bob-Omb played in the movie. He hasn't released an album in a while... but he's got a huge catalog and his style's changed a lot over the years, but maybe you could find something that sort of sounds like Sex Bob-Omb. Maybe Mellow Gold or Odelay?
  16. I love the Beatles, but everyone loves them... My favorite singer is... Karen O - I just love her voice and her style. Her band, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, are amazing and they manage their radically change their style with each album. Their debut was very art-punk, but they became a bit more mellow and "indie" with their second, and their most recent one integrated more digital sounds. Here's a track from the YYY's debut. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcjPFAV1foU She's also done a lot of collab/soundtrack work. She did a cover of Immigrant Song with NIN for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie and she also did a bunch of songs for the Where the Wild Things Are movie. I heard that she wrote a song for the new Tim Burton movie as well. Next to Karen O and the YYY's... my favorite band would have to be Crystal Castles with Alice Glass on vocals They're an acquired taste, but I think they're the best thing to happen to music in a long time.
  17. The ultimate nostalgia overload for me has gotta be... when Cartoon Network would play movies. A lot of the time they were movies I'd never heard of, but they always had a really bittersweet quality to them and I always get nostalgic just thinking about them because some of the films were so confusing to me as a child... they were wacky but always seemed kind of sad. - I remember seeing "An American Tail" through this - I also saw "The Iron Giant" through this, and that's probably my favorite animated film - "We're Back, A Dinosaur's Story" I just remember this film being particularly odd. I never finished it and I still don't remember what exactly happened. - And there was one film that I only saw 3 minutes of... But I think it was about this boy who could travel between the stories in books... something like that. I think the title may have had "-master" or "-wizard" in it's title. I think the boy had glasses. I always wanted to know *what* this movie's title was because I was dying to finish it. if someone could help me with this, it'd be greatly appreciated. But yeah you guys remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHiOro0rRDo&feature=related
  18. I prefer playing games alone... mostly because I play for FUN. When I play anything multiplayer... all anyone cares about is skill skill skill. I used to have a friend who would always rub it in my face about just how great he was at video games... But I didn't care because his skills amounted to nothing in the real world, and he'd get so worked up that no one else around his could have any fun. I can get competitive(like with fighting games) but I don't make it a goal to train to be better than everyone else. I know some people are into that, but I just like to not get stressed out when I'm taking a break from everything. I can see how playing for skill can become playing for fun. It does feel good to be at the top. But I'm too lazy to really get there.
  19. I used to love The Lion King, but I dunno I didn't like it as much as I did as a kid when I rewatched it a while back. As far as more recent 2D ones go my top 3 would be: 1. Lilo and Stitch 2. Mulan (that music man...) 3. Atlantis (seriously underrated) I started watching some of the older classic Disney films on Blu-ray... and I had no idea how incredibly good they are! When I was a kid, they were just cartoons, but watching them now, I really appreciate how revolutionary these were when they came out. The animation in them are better than a lot of the 90s Disney movies TBH. Fantasia - I'm surprised this is Disney. It just makes you fall in love with music and animation. Bambi - I always thought this was a kid's movie... but it's hella deep Snow White - what a gorgeous looking film! When I was 4, my favorite Disney movies were probably The Jungle Book and Tarzan. But I haven't seen either in over 10 years.
  20. Harvey Dent - The Dark Knight His story in TDK is just so tragic. It's my favorite version of his origin in any form, because you really feel a lot of sympathy for him, partially because his loss is almost like a collective loss since it completely changes Batman's life and the way people live in that entire city. You saw a man who really was pure of heart and had a belief that he could save the world and bring society to new highs... and then he was pushed over the edge and everybody had to suffer for it. Clu 2.0 - Tron: Legacy I think a lot of people didn't "get" his character, but I always thought his character was really tragic. He's basically someone with extremely high expectations. He is supposed to be an "exact, perfect" clone of his creator, Kevin Flynn. Flynn was the creator and basically God of his world, and Clu was created to help him perfect this world that was created. Flynn created Clu to create "perfection" and so it was built into his programming. Because he wasn't human, like Flynn, he was permanently in this state of mind. Of finding perfection. But while Flynn realized that you couldn't really "create perfection" Clu was unable to learn this and stop obsessing over "perfection." He really just wanted to make his "father" happy. So when a bunch of "imperfections"(people not created/designed by Flynn) wandered into the world, he committed genocide against them, because he was trying to keep the world clean and organized. He became a villain and he was basically disowned by his own creator for doing what he was told/"programmed". Lotso-Huggin' Bear - Toy Story 3 Pretty simple setup, but you've gotta feel sorry for him. He started off as that cute cuddly pink teddy bear... But he lost all faith in children because he got replaced by his original owner. The only reason was because she really thought she lost him... but he never forgave her, and he stopped trusting others. Roy Batty - Blade Runner He's an android with a built in "expiration date." He's lived most of his life as a slave for other humans, and as he feels the clock ticking, he goes on a rampage trying to find a way to give himself and his friends "more life" He just loved living, even through all the hardships, there were enough good moments that he knew he wanted more. ????? - Watchmen The identity of the villain is sort of a enormous spoiler, but he/she is definitely someone you can sort of feel sorry for. You sort of feel sorry for every single character in that story, they all have super depressing lives from the main characters, to smaller villains, to random people on the street. If the villain isn't pitiable... well there's like another 36 anti-heros you can pity. Dracula - Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) I don't know why... I hate Dracula throughout the whole movie... I see him as just the most terrible and evil type of man... but at the very end... I kind of tear up and feel pity for the guy. Maybe it's because he's played by Gary Oldman, one of the best actors alive. Bill (and his brother) - Kill Bill Vol. 2 These guys are way too cool for you to not feel at least a little pity for them. You're on The Bride's side the whole time, and you know she should have her revenge because they both did something terrible to her... but you sort of don't want them to die because you know they're both normally pretty nice guys. Kong - King Kong (2005) Well if Kong is the villain then I felt pretty bad for the guy. If it's people, then I really don't care for them because they really slowed down the movie lol. How can he not be pitiful when he came out of a pit! ok lame joke. I sort of felt sorry for him, I was reading about some deleted scenes and it seems like the guy went through a lot.
  21. My favorite graphic novel/comic book, and one of my favorite novels period, is Alan Moore's Watchmen. I just think it's one of the most well-written pieces of fiction I've ever read. It manages to be extremely philosophical and political while never leaning too hard in any direction, and it creates extremely well-developed and human characters. It's also got a very well thought out "What if super heroes were real" storyline that cleverly fuses them into an alternate history that spans from the 1930s to the height of the Cold War. It's also a story that its author wrote specifically for a comic book, and because of that it takes advantage of everything that makes a comic book a comic book, from the panels to the pages and layouts to the manipulation of time and speech bubbles, etc. tl;dr Watchmen is awesome. Being a huge fan of the book, I wanted to make up a username related to it. Dr. Mane-hattan was an easy pun.
  22. I don't think they'd do a thing to the show. They're already doing a new Craig McCracken/Lauren Faust show on their channel, so I'm sure they'd be fans of Faust's style. If anything, we'd see a massive amount of new merchandise, which I wouldn't mind. And I'm sure Disney wouldn't try to mess with us bronies, if anything they'd use MLP as a model for all their other programs and films. They've been trying for years to get guys to watch their "girly" princess movies like "Tangled" but have failed miserably at tapping that market. Though Tangled was pretty awesome. If Disney bought MLP that'd probably mean that they bought Hasbro or at least made a huge deal with them. I'd be more curious about what they'd do with Monopoly and Transformers tbh. Well Lauren Faust actually doesn't have that much power over the show. She has even less with Season 3 than she did with Season 2 and she didn't really have that much to begin with. The show and its characters belong to Hasbro essentially. Besides she's basically working on new projects nowadays. I think she might still be trying to sell that Galaxy Girls thing(which is what she originally wanted to pitch to Hasbro). I'm pretty sure Faust doesn't have a problem with Disney though. She went to CalArts which was founded by Disney. There's tons of Disney references in FIM. And she's working on a show for Disney Channel right now. Regardless of all that, the rights belong to Hasbro and most likely always will. They could give the license to Disney or sell FIM to Disney, but I don't think Disney would really do that much harm. Hasbro probably wouldn't mind giving their show to another channel. FIM and TF: Prime are designed to help sell Hasbro's toys but also to promote their channel, The Hub. But if the Hub failed(which I hope it doesn't), then the next best thing would be to have your show played on one of the most widely watched family tv networks.
  23. I used to love these(not the Pony kind, the DBZ kind) as a kid, so I bought a few boxes. Plus they were on sale(Buying 4 boxes of these was actually only a few cents more expensive than one box of Spongebob fruit snacks) They're really chalky and dry, but that's exactly why I like them. My only gripe is that they're just repackaged G3 Pony snacks. So all of the gummies look creepy as hell and I can't even tell what some of these are... I'm not expecting BettyCrocker to spend the time and money on creating new molds and more accurate colors/flavors... Hasbro barely does that themselves.
  24. Certainly not. Slender is a really awesome independent game though. For such a small project, it's very impressive. However, the gameplay is simple and repetitive. But it works. Amnesia has so many different features and all of them are extremely effective. It's a full game and it has enough content to last me a lifetime(since I rarely finish scary games like that anyways) Basically, I could imagine Slender as a level in Amnesia, it'd fit right in, but it's not one of the best levels.
