Hello Everypony,

 

I've been working with many signatures and avatars I thought I'd head over into making some wallpapers for the community.

 

These are the wallpapers I've created, I'll try to keep this page updated with new and fresh wallpapers every week!

Paint.NET is the best alternative to Photoshop in my opinion.

Gimp is really powerful. It's no wonder that a lot of the Photoshop developers are ex-Gimp devs. Adobe has hired quite a few former Gimp devs to re-implement Gimp features into Photoshop. That said, it takes some getting used to, and to be honest, I think the Gimp experience is much better under it's native Linux environment than under Windows or Mac OS X.

 

That said, anyone serious about using Gimp should be using at least version 2.8 (which was released just a couple months ago), because it adds the single window mode. I've been using Gimp for years (and programming scripts for it), and I have to admit, at least for me, the single window mode is an absolute must.

With the current development branch, 2.9, there are a lot of really cool features, so I think it would be best to be compiling your own version from source.

 

Paint.NET is a lot of fun, but it's missing a lot of features.

 

Gimp is terrible for painting btw. It's purely a photo editing tool. For painting, MyPaint and Krita are both excellent choices. Or if you want to spend a bit of money, a lot of people swear by Paint Tool Sai.
