Just hopping on now, actually. Finally once again in a good mood to get Tribal with things. I'm not sated with my Raider until I get m hands on the grenade launcher. As much as I like the Arx Buster, it is way too situational to be used effectively, especially for a novice like myself.

 

As for the Clan Tags, we should really decide so I can apply mine, [Poni]..? [MLPF]..? We need some sort of general consensus here.

[Poni] Sounds good to me, then other bronies would also see that, rather than MLPF, which would be harder to figure out for a non-member.

Has anyone else used the twinfusors at all? So far I'm not really digging them - the two disc capacity is nice, but the damage output is low enough that I'm not sure it's worth it at all.

 

... then again, I mostly act as a midfield brawler, so it's probably just a matter of being ill suited to my needs.

Unless you're accurate enough, the Twinfusor is probably best used indoors, where it's easier to land hits.

When fighting outside, you might not be able to fire off 2 discs when the enemy is on the ground before he flies off again.

 

So it's probably the best choice to just go for the higher burst damage when you actually can get it, rather than waste all shots on airborn targets.

They'll probably come at some point, it probably takes longer to implement new skins/models than voices.

 

Ugh, i really wish i had Paypal to buy the new Spectre skin when i can play again :/

 

Hopefully they'll make it possible to pay with mobile.

Wow, Tribes is an awesome game, had my first go at it today, and it is really good. Especially like the large environments, and the fact that your kills are all skill based.

I can't believe that I neglected to post in this thread for so long. I play as a fully loaded Technician or Doombringer. (Mostly as a Doombringer… Heavy on flag is a nasty job, but someone has to do it.)

 

Big thanks to the Zoop for introducing me to this game. I played some of the predecessors of Tribes Ascend back in the day, and I was totally freaked out when I discovered that Tribes was back and better than ever.

 

Due to a wrist injury, I haven't been able to play in a bit of a while. However, I look forward to making an awesome comeback within the next few months. (Wrist injuries take a ridiculous amount of time to recover from.)

I know that the decision has already been made, but I just wanted to add that I vouch for [Poni] as well. I look forward to seeing you guys out on the field before too much more time has passed!

Well, my enjoyment of Tribes Ascend was short lived. It has started crashing before map loads, tried repair... did not work. Reinstalled it, it has immediately started repairing and has been stuck on 7.3% for the last hour, oh well

I'm finally back from my vacation and played some Tribes for the first time in a few weeks. I bought the starter pack on steam a while back, when it was on sale, so I tried to play as the pathfinder since I got some new items for him. Turns out I'm a terrible capper. Never going to touch the pathfinder again. (maybe..) I had some spare credits, so I bought the doombringer. Played one round and wasn't very impressed with the class. Then I bought the heavy bolt launcher and enjoyed the class a ton.

Pathfinder isn't all about capping. The spinfusor/shotty combo works remarkably well in TDM - pelting heavies with the shotgun at close range is pretty satisfying.

None of the heavy classes really appeal to me a whole lot, I must admit. On the rare occasion that I do play as a heavy I stick to the brute - the heavy spinfusor is good for knocking people around, and the shotgun works pretty well for close range anti-air. I feel dirty every time I toss out disco grandes, though.

I guess you're right, but I have never been a huge fan of the light classes anyways. I like being big and durable.

but if you're big and durable, you are slow. which isn't super fun. That's why I play tech and soldier most of the time. you're still fairly durable with upgrades, and you can move very quickly. I can get my soldier to 200 km/h on a few maps.

I agree that I might me a bit slower than the lighter classes, but It's not really that slow. When I'm attacking I can use the spinfusor to boost myself thrice and then generate all the health back before reaching the enemy base as fast as any other class.

It definitely takes a bit of getting used to before you're able to really get into the swing of things, but I think it's well worth the effort to be honest.

I tried it out when it was in beta.

I really loved it. I mainly played as scout because of how good their mobility was. The bigger guys was way to big of a target and a little to slow for my taste.

I'd say it has improved dramatically since beta - there are far more features, weapon options, and all manner of other fancy shtuff available these days.

 

As stated previously, I'd like to eventually get some forum folks together and get a server rented (it's pretty cheap!) for some private games at some point. :3
