Lunastep 34 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 I have been on these forums a lot and on a lot of other sites and people keep saying that rainbowdash has a crush on pinkie pie. Why do people think this? Was it just because they hung out for 1 day and pranked people? Or was it a hidden message? Im really curious why. Bari 7,023 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 It's just shipping. Don't worry about it. I like that ship, and maybe I can explain it to you. It might have started because of that episode (Griffon the Brush Off). To me, they look adorable together. Their personalities are similar, I guess. So perhaps they have fun together. And that's my two bits.

Yellow Diamond 7,574 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 (edited) Blame it on "Griffon the Brush Off." The episode revolves around Pinkie Pie vying for Rainbow Dash's attention, becoming jealous when Gilda enters the picture and begins to hang out with Rainbow. Although the welcome party which eventually leads to everypony---including Rainbow---turning on Gilda appeared to be a matter of happenstance (Rainbow claims to have set up the pranks, not Pinkie), it is Pinkie who ends up effectively getting what she always wanted: Rainbow Dash's undivided attention. There is speculation that Pinkie more or less set up Gilda so that she could humiliate her in front of Dashie. As it turned out, that is exactly what transpired. There is also the added "bonus" of Pinkie calling Rainbow Dash "Dashie", a nickname no other character uses for Rainbow. Because it is uttered in an endearing fashion, it sounds a lot like a pet name one might use with a more intimate partner. Combine "Dashie" with Pinkie's sudden obsession to hang out with Rainbow and you'll have a lot of fans shipping them the next day. In short, Pinkie Pie comes off like a possessive girlfriend. Take Rainbow being practically compatible with anyone in the the eyes of shippers, it is easy for a number of fans to make the dots and connect them. As the series has progressed, both Pinkie and Dash displayed rather fragile psyches: Pinkie is desperate to keep her friends; Rainbow Dash has a self-confidence issues. Shippers tend to be attracted to "damaged goods," so to speak, and shipping them together can allow for a variety of stories. It never feels like too much of a stretch for Pinkie Dash to exist. They clearly have a common interest in one another, and both are capable of either acting in a vulnerable or supportive capacity. Shankveld 4,949 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 All joking aside, people(for the majority) don't really believe they love eachother. It's just fun to pretend and create, especially when it's so cute . No harm done. non-bronies often couldn't help but to think that everyone in the show are lesbians No wonder there are so many guys in this fandom amirite? ~ What's wrong with shipping? My friend and I had a discussion about where the fillies come from and why they don't look like their parents. Birth mothers. The dumbest fillies are sent away to just be inseminated and give birth until they become too old (where then they become a labor). Sort of like the book, The Giver. ~

This is the exact reason people are in the fandom. No if's and's or plot's. >I felt disgusted writing that xD On earth, you just need one Stallion to go around to impregnate ten to twenty mares. Dunno if this was applicable on Equestria http://en.wikipedia....lions_and_mares Stallions have a LOT of work to do then ;-; Edited July 30, 2012 by Nico Removed a quote from a hidden post.

JhonHipster 124 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 Honestly its not just pinkie pie. Any character in the show has probably been shipped with RD. even if it's not a character she's still probably been shipped with it. I've seen her get shipped with watermelons, kitchen sinks, rocks. Etc. If it exsists rainbow dash has been shipped with it. Why? Becuase a majority of are communitys favorite pony is rainbow dash, so the first pony to come to mind in shipping is RD. 1 lets hope this works

Ferret Girl 2,642 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 Here is my two bits about shipping and clopping. Shipping can be a harmless and even fun thing however I prefer when shippers make a pair with two different genders. Maybe this is just because I was raised up to believe that homosexual marriage and...other things, are very wrong, But I just hate seeing shipping of two ponies of the same sex... as for cloppers...no I just cant do it. CLOPPING IS WRONG! sorry, Thats just my moral standpoint, but how can you look at their eyes in the show afterwords and not feel horrible. Again sorry if I offend anyone whatsoever in this post... please believe that I did not mean it if i did.
L-PinkVsD-Pink327 177 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 I used to be part of the shipping game (Another fanbas) and here's one of my ideas from my time in it: Shippers tend to take the pair of characters that spend time with each other, (Such as go through an adventure, and not have many clashing whatever(Sometimes the opposite, they are different in every whatever) ) and, if enough of that happens for that romance seaperson's likings, they will see it as a very possible relationship. They will then usually proceed to making fanfics, fanart, and other stuff I don't really know/care about.
Twi Rubix 726 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 In terms of Canon, I think none of the ponies "love" each other. Terms of Fandom, I think I can see why there would be shipping between the 2. Probably has something to do with "Griffon the Brush Off" because they were getting along and hanging out together. They also have similar interests, I think. You're not responsible for how a bunch of strangers might feel about your personal beliefs. You articulated your opinion, and if somebody gets "offended" or disagrees in any way, then their options are simple: 1) ignore it 2) articulately why they feel differently, or 3) cry about it Regarding the rest of your post, today I'm going to go with option 1. As for the OP, I think the "damaged goods" explanation offered earlier pretty much hits the nail on the head.
