An idea for a tumblr blog

I've just started an art hobby, mainly drawing and painting ponies. I've been thinking of starting a new "ask-a-pony" tumblr blog (once my skills are at a reasonable level). I'd like to have people's opinions on my idea first.

 

It's about Twilight participating in a project started by Princess Celestia, to study Equestrian history by time-travelling. Her partner is Pinkie Pie, however, so things don't usually go quite as planned with her fooling around. They have a time machine with a computer, on which they receive commands from the scientists leading the project... except those are actually messages from the readers. It's (naturally) a humorous blog, with joke subjects ranging from events occuring in Equestria to actual history to inter-dimensional shenanigans (time-travelling is very experimental and may not keep you in your own universe).

 

Is this too much of a' Dr Whooves blog without Dr Whooves' or would you actually follow it? (If it was good-looking and well executed, that is.) Any additional thoughts?

I as a Tumblr user don't follow Ask Blogs anymore. Sure they were funny and new, but they were a fad. In my opinion only a few are still worthy to follow. Perhaps yours can be one of them I don't know.

 

But one thing is sure, you would only differentiate yourself by the way you react to the questions or decisions, perhaps even your drawing style, but that's it. In the end it will still be an amalgam of pictures where the author tried to force a joke onto depending on a random user input.

 

Perhaps keep the blog part, and be original? Only draw things you believe would make a funny story, don't inspire yourself from other's questions and have something unique to offer.

 

Perhaps I'm just saying a lot of bs, but that is how I see it right now. I see too many Ask-Blogs and too few original blogs.

Yeah, I think being original would be important. I follow a few ask blogs, and I'm not sure what the general opinion on them is these days. Perhaps most bronies are as tired of them as you are, or maybe not.

 

If I'm actually going to go ahead with this, I'll be sure to plan the thing thoroughly and try to make it as interesting as possible.
